(p. 167) uyyala or ఉయ్యాల or ఉయ్యెల uyyala. [Tel.] n. A swing. ఉయ్యాలతొట్టి, ఉయ్యాల మంచము a cradle, a swinging bed. ఉయ్యాలో జంపాలో (Dasav. ix. 243.) Lullabies. ఉయ్యాల జిట్ల uyyāla-jiṭṭa. The wagtail ఉయ్యాల పులుగు. See. జిట్ట, సారసపక్షి.

(p. 181) ekku ekku. [Tel.] v. a. & n. To rise, increase, swell. To appear (by its effects as wine, water, poison, or medicine.) To affect the mind. To prevail as a report; to come to notice వాని తలకు మదము ఎక్కినది he is beside himself with pride or lust. వానికి మత్తెక్కినది he is intoxicated. వడ్డియెక్కినది interest has accrued. ఎక్కినవడ్డి the interest that accrued. వాని దుష్టగుణములు నీకు ఎక్కినవి you have caught his bad habits, or, followed his example. వార్తకెక్కు to become the theme or topic of discourse. వన్నెకెక్కినాడు he became celebrated, rose to distinction. వాసికెక్కిన celebrated, honoured. ఎన్నికకెక్కినాడు one who has risen to reputation. పది గంటలపొద్దు ఎక్కిన వేళ when it was ten o'clock, lit. when the sun has mounted (to) ten hours. ఆ పనికి ఎవరును ఎక్కలేదు no one came forward, or volunteered for the business. అతని మాట యెక్కదు his word will not do, or avail. తలకు నీళ్లెక్కి ౛లుబుగానున్నది the water has got into the head and I have a cold. To mount on, get upon. మంచమెక్కు to take to one's bed. ఎక్కుకొను ekku-konu. v. a. To mount on ఆరోహించు.

(p. 222) kaṅkaṭi kankaṭi. [Tel.] n. A couch or bedstead. మంచము. కంకటిరజ్జు ticken or bedcord used as a noose. See నులక.

(p. 223) kaṅgāḷī kangāḷī. [H.] adj. Wretched, miserable దిక్కుమాలిన, కంగాళీ మంచము a wretched bed. కంగాళీబత్తెము paltry batta, a wretched pittance.

(p. 369) gilaka or గిలుక gilaka. [Tel.] n. A child's rattle, the wheel of a pulley, a capstan. A small handmill for cleaning cotton. The name of the letter ్. గిలకకర్ర gilaka-karra. n. A rattle. గిలకతాడి gilaka-tāḍi. n. The male palmyra. గిలకబండి gilaka-banḍi. n. A low built dray, a creaking cart. గిలకల కోళ్లమంచము a cot with small bells hung on the legs. గిలకచెట్టు gilaka-cheṭṭu. n. A tree with rattling pods and a yellow papilionaceous flower, called Crotolaria juncea: సంకలీ వృక్షము. నూనెగిలక (Rox. ii. 357.) the tree called Cœalpinia Oleosperma.

(p. 442) capparamu or చప్రము ṭsapparamu. [Tel.] n. A frame. చట్టము. A canopy, a thatched roof, a shed, a covered seat in which a god is carried about: the tilt of a cot, canopy of a bed, the roof of a bower. పందిరి, గుడారము. ద్రాక్షచప్పరము a trellice of vines. చలువచప్పరకోళ్లమంచము a bed of state. (T. iii. 131.) i.e., a bed, with tester and pillars.

(p. 444) caluva or చలవ ṭsaluva. [Tel.] n. Coolness, coldness, cold, శైత్యము. Any thing of a cooling or refreshing nature, such as beneficence, liberality, benignity. Bleaching, a bleaching green. Clothes newly washed. ఉదికినబట్ట. adj. Cold, cooling, comfortable, bleached. white. చలువచేయు ṭsaluva-chēyu. v. t. To bleach, as cloth. To cool the body. చలువడి ṭsaluvaḍi. n. Coolness, cool air. శైత్యము. చలువమిరియము ṭsaluva-miriya-mu. n. Long pepper, cubebs. తోకమిరియము. చలువరాయి ṭsaluva-rāyi. n. White marble, alabaster. చంద్రకాంతము. చలువరేడు ṭsaluva-rēḍu. n. The moon చల్ది ṭsaldi. See చలి. వానికి చలువలు కమ్మినవి a chill came over him, i.e., he is deadly cold or in the extremity of death. చలవపందిలి ṭsalava-pandili. n. A canopy, or triumphal arch, an ornamented booth for an idol. చలువచప్పరపుకోళ్లమంచము a comfortable bed decked out with a coverlet, tilt and pillars. చలువజ్యోతి ṭsaluva-jyōti. n. A poetical word for the moon.

(p. 516) talayampi tala-y-ampi. [Tel.] n. The head of a bedstead. తలాపి, మంచమునకు తలవైపు. A pillow తలకిందనుంచుకొను దిండు.

(p. 542) tūgu tūgu. [Tel.] v. n. To nod. To bow down, to be weighed down. To weigh తూనికపడు. To move or rock backwards and forwards. ఊగు, చలించు. To be paid or got. To sleep. కూరు. To be carried on నడచు. సరితూగు to be equal in weight, to rival in excellence. పచ్చిమిరపకాయలకన్న ఎండుమిరపకాయలు నిండా తూగును dried chillies weigh heavier than the green ones. ఆ రూకలు తూగిరాక as he could not obtain payment. పనితూగకపోయె the work was not carried through. n. Nodding: moving backwards and forwards; equipoise. ఊగుట. Weight. బరువు. To accomplish, to carry through. తూగుముంచము or తూగుటుయ్యెల tūgu-manṭsamu. n. A swinging cot, a cradle, ఉయ్యాలమంచము. తూగువాడు or తూగుడు the animal called a sloth.

(p. 559) toḍugara or తొడుగర్ర toḍu-gara. (తొడుగు+కర్ర.) n. A bundle of thorny brushwood. ముండ్లలకంపమోపు. 'మంచపు తొడుగరలైరట్టె.' మంచమునకంటుకొనిపోయిరి. Swa. iii. 166.

(p. 609) doṅga donga. [Tel. √ తీ to take lit. One who takes.] n. A thief or robber. A rogue. cheat, or hypocrite. A wretch, or miscreant: a culprit or felon. Any injurious substance as a thief in a candle or a hand core in the heart of a palmyra or plantain shoot. adj. False, delusive, sly, feigned, pretended, hypocritical, dishonest, dishonourable, mischievous, stolen, wicked, sinful. దొంగనేల land unjustly got, మోసముచేసి అపహరించిన నేల. దొంగ యిసుక a quicksand, క్రిందినీళ్లు తెలియకుండ మీదనుండు ఇసుక. దొంగనిద్ర feigned sleep. దొంగసొమ్ములు stolen goods, దొంగిలించిన సొమ్ము. దొంగికూడు food obtained fraudulently, ఇతరులెరుగకుండ మోసముచేసి తిను కూడు. దొంగగొడ్డు a curst cow, a beast, that strays into other's fields to graze there, దొంగమేత మేయుపశువు. దొంగబీగము a false key, మారుబీగము. దొంగరేయి that part of the midnight which is most favourable for robbers to go about. దొంగ భక్తి hypocrisy. దొంగమాట a deceitful word. a lie. 'దొంగవాకిట మంచమువేసినరీతిగా' a proverb implying 'make friends for the purpose of runing one.' దొంగతనము, దొంగపని or దొంగరికము donga-tanamu. n. Theft, robbery, roguery, cunning, craft, a trick, a fraud. దొంగతనంబు లీవగలు this is mere pretence. దొంగతనముగా donga-tanamu-gā. adv. Secretly, by stealth, unawares. దొంగిలించు or దొంగిలు dongilinṭsu. v. a. To steal. అపహరించు.

(p. 639) navāru navāru. [H.] n. A broad tape. మంచములకు వేసే పెద్దటేపు.

(p. 671) nulaka or నుల్క nulaka. n. A cord, woven of three strands and used in lacing the bottoms of cots, like ticken. మంచమల్గుడారము. నులకమంచము a bed the bottom of which is made of such ticken.
