(p. 55) anunayamu anu-nayamu. [Skt.] n. Conciliation, consoling, entreaty, begging. సాంత్వనము, ఓదార్చడము, అడుగుకోవడము, మంచిమాటలాడడము, ఊరట. అనునయించు anu-nayinṭsu. [Skt.] v. a. To conciliate, console; to entreat, beg. ఓదార్చు, అడుగుకొను, మంచిమాటలాడు.

(p. 826) praṇayamu pra-nayamu. [Skt.] n. Affection, love, friendship, friendly or fond regard, acquaintance. ప్రణయకలహము lover's quarrels, discord between man and wife. స్నేహము, ప్రేమము, మంచిమాటలాడడము, వినయము. ప్రణయించు praṇayinṭsu. v. a. To kindle, to make a fire burn. ప్రజ్వలింపజేయు. 'అలరగసోమయాజులరుణాస్తమయంబుల నుల్లసిల్లనగ్నుల ప్రణయింపనూదగను. గంపునచొప్పుడు ధూమాజాలముల్ కలయగ బర్వెనోయన.' Bmj. ii.23. ప్రణయిని praṇayini. n. A beloved woman. ప్రియురాలు.

(p. 932) mañci manchi. [Tel.] n. Good, మేలు, మంచి చెబ్బరలు good and evil. adj. Good, excellent, best; sound, fine, fair; much, great, severe (as a blow, a fever,) heavy (as rain.) adv. Very, మిక్కిలి. వాడు మంచివాడు he is a good man. మంచివారితో చెలిమిచేయుము seek the company of good men. మంచిపేరు a good name, i.e., reputation, character. వాడు మంచిపేరెత్తినాడు he gained good repute. మంచినీళ్లు good or drinkable water. వానితో మంచిమాటలాడి ఆ పుస్తకమును తెస్తిని. I spoke him fair, and brought the book. దీవియొక్క మంచి చెడుగులు వానికి నిమిత్తములేదు, లేక. దీని మంచి చెడ్డలతో వానికి ప్రసక్తిలేదు he has nothing to do with its good or evil fortune. మంచిగందము sandal, శ్రీచందనము. మంచిగాయము a severe wound. మంచిచేయి the right hand. మంచిదెబ్బ a sound or severe blow. మంచినిద్ర sound sleep. మంచినూనె sesamum oil. మంచిపాము a venomous snake, i.e., the cobra. మంచిపగడము real coral. మంచిపాలు pure milk, i.e., unmixed with water. మంచిముత్తెము a true pearl. మంచివాన heavy rain. ఇది మంచిబంగారా, కాకిబంగారా is this real gold or tinsel? ఒకటి మంచికుక్క ఒకటి వెర్రికుక్క one dog is sound, the other is mad. వానిమీద మంచితప్పు మోపినారు they have brought a serious charge against him. మంచిది పో well, you may go! మంచిది కానీ well, be it so! మంచితనము manchi-tanamu. n. Goodness, friendliness, gentleness. వానిని మంచితనము చేసికొన్నారు they spoke him fair or got him over. మంచితనాన అయ్యేది చెడుతనాన కాదు you may do that by fair means, which you cannot do by violence.

(p. 933) mañjulamu manjulamu. [Skt.] adj. Sweet, delicious, pleasing. Pretty, మనోజ్ఞమైన. మంజువు manjuvu. adj. Beautiful, pleasing, agreeable. మనోజ్ఞమైన. మంజుభాషిణి or మంజువాణి a sweet voiced girl. మంచిమాటలాడేస్త్రీ.

(p. 970) māṭa māṭa. [Tel.] n. A word, పదము. A promise, వాగ్దత్తము, ప్రతిజ్ఞావచనము. Slander, నింద. Opinion, rumour, వృత్తాంతము. అతడు నీ మాట చెప్పలేదు he did not speak of you. ఇది వేరే మాట this is another affair, another thing. వానిమాటకాదు this is not about him, I am not talking about him. గడియకు ఒకమాట చెప్పినాడు he changed his mind every hour. మంచిమాట (interj.) Very well. దాన్ని గురించి రెండో మాటలేదు there is no alternative. వారివిద్ద మాటలుపడినాడు he was reproached or reprimanded by them. In some phrases the word మాట need not be translated. Thus, ఆమె తిరిగీ వస్తున్నదనేమాట తెలిసి knowing that she would return. నేను దానిని కొన్నమాట రూఢి it is very true I bought it. ఆమాటే యెరుగను I know nothing of it. ఇందుచేత మాటవచ్చును by this you will get into disgrace. అతడు మాటతప్పలేదు he did not fail in his promise. మాట తప్పినవాడు మాలవాడు a promise breaker is a pariah, i.e., is a mean wretch. నేను పోయినమాట వానికి ఎట్లా తెలిసినది how did he know that I was gone? అతడు పోయేమాట ఉండేమాటా does he propose to go or stay? వాడు ఉండేమాట యింకా తెలియలేదు I do not as yet know that he will remain. మాటకుమాట word for word, literally. నా మాట అడుగుదాటకు transgress not my command. తనమీద మాటరాకుండా ఇట్లా చేసెను he did this to avoid blame. మాటవినుట to obey. ఎంతమాట what nonsense! వానిమాట వాని ఒడిలో వేసినాను I acted as he desired. నీకు మాట నాకు మూట a command is easy to give but hard to perform, or a word from you will make me rich. వెయ్యిమాటలేల why discuss it at length, in a word. ఆ పెండ్లి మాట యీ గ్రంథములో లేదు there is no mention of the marriage in this book నామాటవేరు, నీమాట వేరు I say one thing you say another, my opinion is different from yours, my case is quite different from yours. వానికి నాకు మాటలు లేవు he and I are not on speaking terms. వానితో నీకేమిమాటలు why do you speak with him? ఈమాట వింటే ఆయన యేమనును if he hears of this what will he say? కడపటిమాటయేమి what was the upshot of the business? ఇప్పట్లో వాని మాట సాగదు he has now no influence. కడకు వానిమాటే ముందరికివచ్చినది at last his words proved true. దానిని గురించి ఇంకా యేమాటా తెలియలేదు I do not yet know the result. మాటలకు పట్టుకొంటే విడవడు if he begins talking he will never stop. అదెక్కడిమాట what nonsense! such a thing is impossible. మాటలు మంచివే కాణి మనసు మంచిదికాదు he talks well but has a bad heart. ఇంకా మాటలు రాని బిడ్డ a child that cannot yet speak. వానికి ఆ ఊరిలో మాట వాసికద్దు లేక మాట సాగుతుంది he has influence in the town. ఆయన మాటకు ఎదురులేదు his word is law. మాటలకుమాత్రము పేదరికములేదు as far as words go he is rich enough. ఒక మాట యిచ్చి పదిమాటలు తీసుకొన్నాడు his reproaches were returned ten-fold. మాటకాడు māṭa-kāḍu. n. A good public speaker, సభయందు భయములేక మాటాడువాడు, వక్త. మాటకారి māṭa-kāri. n. A skilful speaker, యుక్తిగా మాటాడువాడు. A talkative person, వాచాలుడు. మాటలమారి māṭala-māri. n. A talkative person, మిక్కిలి మాటాడువాడు. మాటలాడు, మాటాడు or మాట్లాడు māṭa-l-āḍu. v. n. To speak, talk, converse, to reproach. నన్నెందుకు ఊరికె మాటలాడుతావు why reproach me for nothing? S. iii. 41.

(p. 981) māvu māvu. [Tel.] n. A horse. గుర్రము. The covering a mare. అశ్వసంగమము. A snare for fish. పల్లెవాడు చేపలుపట్టు సాధనము. A numerical fraction, one twentieth. మంచిమావును ఇస్తే మంచిపిల్లపుట్టును if the sire is good the foal will be good. R. i. 8. పాలునునీరు నేరుపరుపంగలమావులు vehicles that can separate water from milk, that is, swans. క్షీరనీరములను వీడదీయు శక్తిగలవాహములు, అనగా, హంసలు. మావుపిడిబాకు a sort of dagger. మావుమోమువాడు māvu-mōmu-vāḍu. n. Lit: 'Horse faced.' A kind of mythological being. కింపురుషుడు.

(p. 1324) sāmamu sāmamu. [Skt.] n. The third of the Vedas. తృతీయవేదము. సామగానము the chanting of this Veda. Conciliation, pacification, gentle methods, fair means. శత్రువులను మంచిమాటాడడము, శాంతము, మంచితనము. 'సామ దానములగాని పనుల్.' T. iv. 187. Gymnastics such as sword play or wrestling. సాము. Much, very much, thoroughly, మిక్కిలి. సుకరము easy. సుకర్మము a good deed, సత్కార్యము, మంచి పని. సుకృతము a good or righteous deed, righteousness, పుణ్యము. సుకుమారము happy. సుగంధి or సుగంధసాల su-gandhi. n. A perfume. fragrance, మంచి పరిమళముగల వస్తువు. సుగుణము an amiable disposition, a virtue or good quality. వానియందు ఒక సుగుణమున్నది he has one good point or quality. సుగుణుడు or సుగుణి a good man, మంచివాడు, సరసుడు. సుచరిత్రుడు a man of a good character, మంచిశీలముగలవాడు. సుచరిత్ర a woman of a good character. సుజనుడు a good man, మంచివాడు. సుతనువు a handsome woman, చక్కనిస్త్రీ. సుతనుడు a handsome or well proportioned man, అవయవసౌష్టవముగలవాడు. సురాత a liberal man, దానశీలుడు. సుదారుణము terrible, horrible, భయంకరమైన. సుదూరము very far, మిక్కిలిదూరమైన. సునిశితము acute, very sharp, అతితీక్ష్ణమైన. సునీతుడు a virtuous man, పుణ్యాత్ముడు. సుపధము a path easy to travel, a good road, మంచిదోవ, సత్పథము. సుపర్ణుడు an epithet of Garaḍa, గరుత్మంతుడు. సుప్రలాపము a good word, మంచిమాట; eloquence, elegant discourse, సువచనము. సుప్రసన్నము well pleased, favourable, clear, clean, కృపాన్వితమైన, నిర్మలమైన, స్వచ్ఛమైన. సుప్రసన్నత delight, clearness, ఉల్లాసము, తేట. 'మనసు సుప్రసన్నత నొందెన్.' Vish. i. 5. సుప్రసిద్ధముగా most celebrated, లోకరూఢిగా. సుబద్ధము correct, true, free from error, నిజమైన; truth, fact, right, నిజము. సుభటుడు a champion, a warrior, రౌతు. సుభాషితము a good word, eloquence an eloquent word, మంచివాక్కు. 'ఆలవిప్రుడాద్విజులోన సుభాషితముంబఠింపగన్.' సుభిక్షము plenty; prosperous, plentiful, (the opposite is దుర్భిక్షము scarcity.) సుభిక్షముగానుండుకాలము a time of plenty. సుమతి good sense, a sound mind: a wise heart, మంచిబుద్ధి, సుద్భుద్ధి. సుమనస్కుడు a good hearted or benevolent man, మంచిమనస్సుగలవాడు. సుమహితము most excellent, దివ్యమైన, సురసము sweet, well favoured, elegant, మధురమైన, సుందరమైన. సురక్షితము well guarded, secure, safe, comfortable, క్షేమమైన, హాయిగానుండే. సురక్షితముగా happily, safely, in a flourishing state, క్షేమముగా, హాయిగా. సురుచిరము beautiful, lovely, engaging, సుందరమైన, రమణీయమైన, మనోజ్ఞమైన. సురూపము handsome well formed. మనోహరమైన. సురూపుడు a handsome looking man. సువచనము a good word, మంచిమాట. M. XVI. i. 107. సువాణి a sweet-voiced lady, మంచినోము. గలన్త్ర నుప్రతను a good vow, మంచినోము సుశ్రావ్యము melodious, చెవులకు మిక్కిలి యింపుగానుండే. సుశ్లోకుడు a celebrated man, సత్కీర్తివంతుడు. M. XIII. iii. 276. సుసంగము good company or society, సత్సహవాసము. సుస్థిరము firm, steady, stable, దృఢమైన, నిలుకడైన. సుస్నాతుడు one who has bathed, స్నానముచేసినవాడు. సుప్నాతుడై having bathed. సుస్నిగ్ధము smooth and soft. మిక్కిలి నున్నని.
