(p. 56) anupānamu anu-pānamu. [Skt.] n. A vehicle in medicine, anything taken with medicine to make it less nauseous. మందుతో కూడా తీసుకొనే మధురమైన వస్తువు. 'తద్వచనౌషధంబు ప్రియానుపాన సహితంబై.' Anir. ii 108. యీ మందుకు పాలును అనుపానము చేసి పుచ్చుకో you must take milk as a vehicle to this medicine, you must take this medicine in milk.

(p. 88) alasaṭa alasaṭa. [Tel. from అలయు q. v.] n. Exhaustion, weariness. ఆయాసము, అలపు. అలసత alasata. [Skt.] n. Inactivity, laziness, idleness. జడత్వము, మాంద్యము. Delay. ఆలస్యము. అలసము alasamu. (p. 109) āgu āgu. [Tel.] v. n. To stop, to stay, asbtain, refrain. To bear (as a cord does a weight.) To be confined, set aside, or reserved. ఆయింటను ఆగబడి యున్నదేవకి (B. X. 75.) Devaki who was kept in restraint. తల్లిదండ్రులులెని బాలురు ఆగ నీవు దిక్కు thou art the refuge of the helpless. పశువులకు ఆరినబీడు land set aside or reserved for pasture. ఇది లేనిది నాకు ఆగదు I cannot get on without this. నా నోటిలో ఆ మాట ఆగదు I cannot keep that word a secret. ఆగు, ఆగించు, ఆచు, ఆపు the causal of ఆగు: āgu. [Tel.] v. t. To stop, check, hinder. To keep, tend. To look to, superintend, guard, protect, preserve. To fold or gather as a flock. నోరాచి మాట్లాడిరి they spoke cautiously. చెయ్యి ఆపక (T. v. 22.) without intermission. నిద్ర ఆచుట to refrain from sleep, keep away drowsiness. రాత్రిళ్లు ఇక్కడ మందులు ఆచుకొని యుండేవారు they used to keep cattle here at nights.

(p. 188) enamandumu ena-man-dumu. [Tel. ఎనిమిది+తూము] n. The measure of eight tooms.

(p. 220) ōṣadhi ōshadhi. [Skt.] n. An annual plant or herb, one that dies immediately after it seeds. ఫలించినతోడనే నశించుచెట్టు. A medicinal plant మందుచెట్టు. ఓషధీశుడు ōshadh-īṣuḍu. n. The lord or plants, i.e., the moon.

(p. 240) kanikaramu kanikaramu. [Tel.] n. Kindness, compassion. దయ. Sorrow దుఃఖము. క 'తనకుందనయులులేమికి, గనికరమందుచును.' భల్లా. iii. కనికరముంచు to be kind to, or favour.

(p. 268) kāṭuka kāṭuka [Tel.] n. Lampblack. Mildew in grain. Eyesalve, or sulphuret of antimony. Collyrium, a paste made of lampback and oil and applied to the eyes to increase their brilliancy. It is also supposed to assist in conjuring and giving second sight. అంజనము. కాటుక is listre or dark brown. లక్ష్మీకాటుకలు a species of grain. మందుకాటుక love powders or eyesalve. భూతకాటుక magic powder. కాటుకవలె నూరినాడు he beat it to the consistency of paste. adj. Dark. deep in colour, dark brown, but distinct from black నల్ల. కాటుకపచ్చ dark green విడిపచ్చ light green. కాటుకకన్నులు bright black eyes. కాటుకపట్టు kaṭuka-paṭṭu v. n. To become black నలుపు పారు. కాటుకపిట్ట kāṭuka-piṭṭa. n. A wagtail see జిట్టంగి and దాసరిపిట్ట. కాటుకరాయి kāṭuka-rāyi. n. Sulphuret of antimony సౌవీరాంజనము. కాటుక రేకులపొడ or వులివెంజర kāṭuka-rēkula-poḍ a. n. A certain venomous snake.
