(p. 341) kṣēmamu kshēmamu. [Skt.] adj. Happy, well, in good health, prosperous, safe. కుశలమైన, శుభమైన, ఆరోగ్యమైన, శ్రేయస్కరమైన, భద్రమైన. n. Good fortune, welfare, happiness, health, safety. Bliss. A safe for money. శుభము, కుశలము, భద్రము, కలిగినది చెడకుండుట. యోగక్షేమములు విచారించుట to enquire after a person's welfare. క్షేమముగా నుండు to be happy or well. క్షేమంకరుడు or క్షేమకారి kshēmankaruḍu. n. A benefactor మేలుచేయువాడు. క్షేమకరము kshēa-karamu. adj. Auspicious, salutary, beneficial, advantageous. శుభకరమైన, శ్రేయస్కరమైన. క్షేమతండులము kshēma-tanḍulama. n. The rice provided for a journey. రోవకుకట్టినబియ్యము. 'ఎసటిపోతలుగాగ నేర్చినించిన. చిరంతనాపుశాలి క్షేమతండులములు.' A. ii. 111.

(p. 674) negaḍu or నపడు negaḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To increase; to extend, to spread. వర్ధిల్లు, వెలయు. ఆ గ్రామము నెగడి కసుబా అయినది the village has enlarged and become a town. n. A polypus, or marine animal (మకరము), supposed to entangle swimmers. జలగ్రహము. The red sea weed, (tangle or dulse.) తంతునాగము. నెగడుపడిన clogged, trammelled. నెగడు కొట్టినట్టు ఉన్నారు they appeared to be astounded. నెగడించు negaḍinṭsu. v. a. To spread, to extend, as fame, &c.

(p. 938) makaramu makaramu. [Skt.] n. An alligator. మొసలి. The sign of the Zodiac called Capricorn, రాశిభేదము. మకరసంక్రమణము or మకరసంక్రాంతి the passing of the sun into Capricon. This is observed as the Pongul feast. పొంగలిపండుగ. మకరకంఠి makara-kanṭhi. n. A necklace shaped like an alligator. మొసలిమూతులుగల కంఠాభరణము. మకరకుండలము makara-kunḍalamu. n. An earring bearing the figure of a crocodile's head. మొసలిముఖము గల కర్ణభూషణము. మకరతోరణము makara-tōranamu. n. A festoon of cloth shaped like a crocodile, మొసలి మొదలైన రూపములను చిత్రవిచిత్రముగా కుట్టి వీధులలో కట్టే తోరణము. మకరాంకుడు, మకరకేతనుడు or మకరధ్వజుడు makarān-kuḍu. n. An epithet of Manmadha, whose banner is an alligator. మన్మథుడు. మకరాలయము ma-kar-ālayamu. n. The sea. సముద్రము. మకరి makari. n. A crocodile, or alligator. మొసలి. మకరిక or మకరికాపత్రము maka-rika. n. Figures of crocodiles drawn in gold dust on the cheeks or breasts of women, చెక్కిళ్లమీదను రొమ్ములమీదను వ్రాసే మొసలిఆకారము. 'మకరీమయరేఖ లురస్థలంబునన్ భావజచిహ్న ముద్రలయిభాసిల.' Vij. Vil. xi. 97. మకరివల makari-vala. n. A snare to catch crocodiles.

(p. 1043) mosali mosali. [Tel.] n. A crocodile. మకరము, నక్రము. A monster. Capricorn in the Zodiac. మొసలికట్టు, మొసలిచేదు or మొసలిరాష్టి mosali-katṭu. n. The liver of a crocodile. మొసలిరాసి the sign of the zodiac called Capricorn, మకరరాశి. మొసలివాపోగు mosali-vā-pōgu. n. An earring with the face of a crocodile engraved on it. మొసలివా, మొసలివాయి or మొసలికాటు mosali-vā. n. The hilt of a sword shaped like a crocodile, మకరముఖాకృతిగల త్సర్వగ్రము.

(p. 1077) rāśi or రాసి rāṣi. [Skt.] n. A heap, pile; a collection, quantity, multitude, mass. ధాన్యాదులప్రోగు. A constellation or sign of the Zodiac, మేషాదిరాసులు. These are మేషము (Aries), వృషభము (Taurus), మిథునము (Gemini), కర్కటకము (Cancer), సింహము (Leo), కన్య (Virgo), తుల (Libra), వృశ్చికము (Scorpio), ధనుస్తు (Sagittarius), మకరము (Capricornus), కుంభము (Aquarius,) and మీనము (Pisces). Plu. రాసులు, జలరాశి or అంబురాశి the collection of waters, i.e., the ocean. జీవరాశి or జీవకోటి the animal kingdom, animated nature. ఉభయరాశిధాన్యము the gross produce of a field before the Government share is deducted. మేలురాశి a heap of winnowed grain. బూగరరాసి a heap of unwinnowed grain. రాశిఅడుగు a small quantity of grain remaining after a heap has been measured. త్రైరాశికము the rule of three. పంచరాశికము the double rule of three. బహురాశికము, compound proportion. రాశిపోయు rāsi-pōụu. v. a. To heap or pile up. పోగుగా పోయు.

(p. 1153) vāmamu vāmamu. [Skt.] adj. Left, not right. సవ్యము, ఎడమ. Charming, lovely. రమ్యమైన. Crooked, వక్రము. Short, పొట్టి, హ్రస్వము. వామ vāma. n. A lovely woman, సుందరమైనస్త్రీ. వామకరము vāma-karamu. The left hand. ఎడమచెయ్యి. వామలోచన vāma-lōchana. n. Lit: the bright eyed, or fine eyed, i.e., a beautiful eyed woman. మంచికన్నులుగలస్త్రీ. వామాన్యకరము the right hand; lit. the hand which is different from the left, కుడిచెయ్యి. KP. vi. 33.

(p. 1271) saṅkramamu san-kramamu. [Skt.] n. Difficult progress, advance through difficulties. The transit of a planetary body through the zodiac, గమనము, గతి, సూర్యాదిగ్రహములు ఒకరాశినుండి మరియొకరాశికి పోవడము. A causeway, a bridge, వంతెన. సంక్రమణము san-kramaṇamu. n. The passage of the sun or planetary body from one sign of the zodiac into another. సూర్యాది గ్రహములు ఒకరాశిని విడిచి మరియొక రాశికి పోవడము. సంక్రమించు san-kraminṭsu. v. a. To encroach on, ఆక్రమించు. To enter, ప్రవేశించు. సంక్రాంతి san-krānti. n. The transit of the sun or a planetary body from one sing of the zodiac into another; particularly applied to the passage of the sun from Sagittarius to Capricornus in January when the Hindus celebrate the Pongal (పొంగలి) feast సూర్యాదిగ్రహములు ఒక రాశిలోనుండి మరియొక రాశికి పోవడము, ముఖ్యముగా సూర్యుడు మకరములో ప్రవేశించేది మకరసంక్రాంతి.
