(p. 358) gariṭe gariṭe. [Tel.] n. A spoon, ladle. మణిగాజుగరిటె a trowel. పొరుగరిటె a huge ladle borne in processions. ముద్రగరిటె a long ladle, with a bell at the end.

(p. 497) ṇ ṇa. The letter N sounded as a palatal. No Telugu word begins with this letter. In some words డ changes into ణ. Elsewhere ణ Ṇ and ళ Ḷ are accounted the same: thus మళిగె or మణిగె. Sometimes ణ changes into న N as చెణకు or చెనకు.

'ఆ విభుడు రాజ్య సుఖలీలావిముఖత వెడలిబంధులం దొరగియధే, ష్టావాసత బ్రుంగుడుపడిపోవగ నెచ్చోట కడుపు బ్రోతునొయంచున్.' M. IV. i. 249. బ్రుంగుడుపాటు brunguḍu-pāṭu. n. Concealment, బ్రుంగుడుపడుట. బ్రుంచు brunṭsu. v. a. To cause to sink, to submerge, బ్రుంగజేయు. బ్రుయ్యు bruyyu. v. n. To perish, నశించు.

(p. 946) maṇigāsanamu maṇi-gāsanamu. [Tel.] n. A thin coating of whitewash or lime, సన్ననిసున్నపు పూత.

(p. 946) maṇīvamu or మణిగము maṇi-vamu. [Tel.] n. Authority. అధికారము. మణివకాడు maṇiva-kāḍu. n. One who is in authority or power, a superior officer, అధికారి.

(p. 948) madamu madamu. [Skt.] n. Fat, కొవ్వు. Pride, arrogance, lust, frenzy, madness. గర్వము. Musk, కస్తూరి. మదాంధతి the blindness of pride, haughtiness. విద్యామదము the pride of learning. ధనమదము the pride of wealth. ధనదాంధుడు he who is blinded by riches. కులమదము the pride of caste or birth. ఉద్యోగమదము the pride of office. రూపమదము the pride of beauty. యౌవన మదము the pride of youth. అన్నమదము the pride of plenty. స్త్రీమదము the pride of passion. మదాలస indolent, heavy as with tipsiness or lust. అతని మదమణిగినది his lustful arrogance has gone, he has sown his wild oats. adj. Proud. మదగజము an elephant in rut. 'మదవైరిద్విపసింహముర్తి.' G. viii. 4. మదించు madinṭsu. v. n. To become fat, proud, or arrogant, to be in rut. కొవ్వు, అహంకరించు, మత్తిలు. మదపుటేనుడు madapu-ṭ-ēnugu. n. An elephant in rut. (The ట is inserted to prevent elision.) మదమడచు madam-aḍaṭsu. v. n. To put down pride, to kill. చంపు. మడవతి madavati. n. A wanton woman. మదావళము, మదహస్తి, మదహత్తి or మదకలము madāvaḷamu. n. An elephant in its prime.

Often, every now and then, అడుగడుగునకు. మాటిమాటికి māṭī-māṭi-ki. n. Time after time, again and again, frequently. మాటుగొయ్యి māṭu-goyyi. n. A hidden pitfall. మాటుపడు māṭu-paḍu. v. n. To disappear, vanish, అగుపడక పోవు, మరుగుపడు. Also, to get entangled, to get caught, తగులుపడు. మాటుమణుగు or మాటుమడుగు māṭu-maṇugu. v. n. To be hushed, still or silent. ౛ం౛ాటము ఉడిగి నిశ్శబ్దమగు. ఊరంతా మాటుమణిగి ఉండినది the whole town was in dead silence. మాటుమణిగిన తర్వాత in the dead of the night.
