(p. 35) aḍavi aḍavi. [Tel. from Skt. అటవి.] n. A forest, wilderness. కాననము. adj. Wild, of the forest, or desert. వవసంబంధమైన. (All wild species of plants or animals are distinguished by prefixing అడవి to their names. e. g., అడవికంద, అడవికాకర, అడవికోడి, అడవిచెరుకు, అడవిపంది, అడవిమామిడి, అడవిమేక, &c.) అడవి అవిసె aḍavi-avise [Tel.] n. A tree, the Bauhinia parviflora. అడవి ఆముదపుచెట్టు aḍaviAmudapu-cheṭṭu. [Tel.] n. A shrub, the Jatropha curcas. కొండాముదపుచెట్టు. అడవి కుక్క aḍavi-kukka. [Tel.] n. The wild dog. అడవి కోడి aḍavi-kōḍi. [Tel.] n. The jungle fowl. అడవిచిక్కుడు aḍavi-chikkuḍu. [Tel.] n. A kind of beans which grow wild. Dolichos tetraspermus. అడవినెల్లికూరచెట్టు aḍavi-nellikūra-cheṭṭu. [Tel.] n. A shrub, croton repandum. అడవిటిర aḍāvi-bīra. [Tel.] n. A plant, a sort of Ghosha with white flowers. అడవిమల్లె aḍavi-malle. [Tel.] n. Jasminum auguzti-folium. అడవిమునగ aḍavi-munaga. [Tel.] n. A plant, Hedysarum sennoides. అడవి మొల్ల aḍavi-molla. [Tel.] n. A sort of jasmine (Jasminum auriculatum.) Globe amaranth.

(p. 74) amalu amalu. [H.] Authority, reign, sway, government. An office or post, a public charge. Execution, fulfilment, the period of one ruler's government. ఏలుబడి, దొరతనము, హయాము. అతని అమలులో in his reign or sway. ఆ కలెక్టరు గారి అమలులో in that Collector's days. ఆ తీర్పు అమలులోకి తేబడిన తరువాత after the decision was executed. వాని మీద అమలుచేసినారు they took steps against him, they put in force against him. అమల్దారుడు an Amildar, i.e., one who exercises authority. One who puts government orders into force. A Tahsildar or revenue officer in charge of Taluq.

(p. 75) amma amma. [Tel. cf. Aryan root 'Ma.'] n. Mother. తల్లి. Madam. అమ్మక్కచెల్ల, అమ్మచెల్ల alas! ah! oho! అమ్మణ్ని, అమ్మద్యు or అమ్మా or అమ్మల్ల interj. My dear, my love. అమ్మవారు amma-vāru. goddess. The small pox. బ్రాహ్మణస్త్రీ, పోలేరు, మశూచికము. ఆ సత్రములో వుండే అమ్మవారిని పిలువు call the Brahmin woman who is in the lodge. అమ్మవారికి పొంగలి పెట్టినారు they offered a sacrifice to the village goddess. వానికి అమ్మవారు పోసినది he has got the small pox. అమ్మవారి చుక్కలు, అమ్మ చుక్కలు pock marks. అమ్మవారి చుక్కలగల or అమ్మచుక్కలుగల pitted with the small pox. అమ్మవారు పోయించు to inoculate. అమ్మవారిధూము an outbreak of cholera. అమ్మాయి ammāyi. (p. 90) allāḍu or అల్లలాడు allāḍu. [Tel. అల్ల+ఆడు] v. n. To shake, move, wave, toss about, to wander about, to be in distress. ఆడు, గాలికి కొట్టుకొను, తిరుగు, సంచరించు, కడగండ్లబడు. 'ధరాచక్రమల్లాడె.' N. iv. 288. ధ్వజపటము గాలికి అల్లాడుచున్నది the flag flutters in the wind. కూటి అల్లాడుతాడు he is in want of bread. కొలువుకు అల్లాడుతాడు he is in trouble for want of employment. అల్లాటము allāṭamu [Tel.] n. A to-andfro movement, wandering about. అల్లారుదు or అల్లార్చు allāruṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To shake, move, vibrate, agitate, wag, wave. ఆడించు, విసురు. 'ఘనవాలమల్లార్చు.' N. i. 144. అల్లారుముద్దు allāru-muddu. [Tel. అల్ల+ఆరు+ముద్దు.] Prettiness, agreeableness, sweetness. జనసమ్మతి, అతిప్రేమాస్పదము. అల్లారుముద్దుగా ad. Prettily, agreeably, sweetly, pleasantly. జనసమ్మతిగా, అందరికి సంతోషముగా, ముచ్చటగా. 'పడుచుదనమున వేడుకపడుచున్నాడు ముద్దరాండ్రకు నల్లారు ముద్దుగాను.' N. ix. 102.
