(p. 62) aparamu a-paramu. [Skt.] adj. Other, another, latter. అన్యము, ఉత్తరము. అపరక్రియలు n. Obsequies, funeral rites. దినవారాలు, కర్మాంతరము. అపరధాన్యములు or అపరాలు or అపరదినుసులు other kinds of grain, miscellaneous grains, all sorts of grain in pods, such as beans, &c. కాయధాన్యములు. One verse says. 'ఉత్తరే పూర్వసస్యాని అపరస్యానిరేవతౌ.' అపరనామము n. A second name. రెండో పేరు. అపర భాగము n. The hind part, వెనుకటి భాగము. అపరమంత్రములు n. Funeral prayers. అపరరాత్రి midnight, the latter half of the night. అపరలోకము another world. అపరవారధి the western ocean. వాడు పూర్వాపరములు చేయించగలడు he is qualified as priest to solemnize both the marriage and funeral rites. అపరాహ్నము or అపరాహ్ణము [Skt. అపర+అహ్నము.] n. The afternoon. రెండు ఝాములకు మీదికాలము.

To plait, braid, weave, wattle rods or twigs, &c., together. గంపలల్లు to weave baskets. చాపలల్లుతాడు he plaits mats. పద్యములల్లు to compose verses. అబద్ధాలల్లు to fabricate lies. తీగెలు చెట్టు మీదికి అల్లినవి the creepers have crept over the tree. కసవు అల్లిన భూమి land overgrown with grass. n. అల్లిక (q.v.)

'కులగిరిపైనుండి కుంభిని మీదికసమున నురుకు సింహంబుచందమున.' H. D. ii. 2069. తన పనివాండ్లకు అసము ఇచ్చియున్నాడు he has given all his authority to his servants, he has given up the reins to them. మొగుడు అసమిచ్చినందున అది యింత త్రుళ్లుచున్నది she is so conceited as her husband has given the management of things into her hands.

In palmistry, the name of a certain line in the palm. గొడుగుకామలు or గొడుగు కాడలు goḍugu-kāmalu. n. Staves foor umbrellas. గొడుగుబల్ల goḍugu-ballu. n. A piece of wood in which the upper hinge of a door turns. తలుపుమీదికుబుసముతిరిగేపట్టె.

(p. 420) cilaka or చిలుక chilaka. n. [Tel.] n. A parrot. ముద్దులచిలక my darling! my pet! చిలకపలుకులు Sweet accents. తెల్లచిలక a cockatoo. పంచరంగుచిలక the maccaw. మైనాచిలక the maina. పుట్టలచిలక or అడివిచిలక the Sirkeer Cuckoo. Jerdon. No. 230. రామచిలక. The Rose-ringed Paroquet, Palaeornis torquatus (so called because taught to reiterate the name of Rāma.) అకుచిలక the Western Blossom-headed Paroquet, Palacornis cyanōecphalus. The name is given to some insects, as a moth, thus, ఆకుచిలక, వడ్లచిలక a moth. గడ్డిచిలక, సీతాకోకచిలక a butterfly. A padlock. The bolt or hasp of a door, because these originally had parrot's heads on them. చిలుకల కొలికి a bright-eyed girl or woman. చక్కని స్త్రీ. చిలకకూర or చిలకతోటకూర chilaka-kūra. n. A kind of pot-herb, Amarantus fasciatus. (Watts.) చిలక, చిలకట or చిలుకడ chilaka. n. A saddle buckle: a ring at the end of the rope used as a girth of the bullock saddle through which the other end is passed to fasten the saddle. కొలికిముడి. చిలకడతాడు chilakada-tāḍu. n. A girth. ఎద్దుమీదికందళము, గంతబిగించేతాడు. చిలకకొయ్య or చిలుకకొయ్య chilaka-koyya. n. A wooden pin fixed in the wall, on which articles are suspended. చిలగడ chilagaḍa. (చిలుక+గడ.) n. The cord that fastens a dagger, to prevent its falling out of the sheath. చిలకతాళము chilaka-tāḷamu. n. A padlock. చిలకతాళి or చిలుకతాళి chilaka-tāḷi. n. A gold buckle in the form of a pair of parrots. చిలుకదుదుడి chilaka-duduḍi. n. The name of a certain tree. చిలకపచ్చ chilaka-paṭsṭsa. n. Bright green, parrot green. చిలకమొక్క or చిలకముక్కు chilaka-mokka. n. (lit. Parrot's bill.) A plant called crotolaria. శుకాననము, శుకనాస. Heyne, 130. The purple red and white scentless flower called Balsam. చిలకరౌతు chilaka-rautu. n. Lit: He whose steed is the parrot: an epithet of మన్మథ the god of love. చిలుక కోణము chiluka-kōṃamu. n. A 'T bandage,' or clout.

(p. 708) pannāgamu pannāgamu. [Tel.] n. The hood or canopy over an open palanquin, usually made of scarlet cloth, అమదలము మీదికప్పు.

(p. 764) puṭamu puṭamu. [Skt.] n. A fold, a doubling. The cup or hollow formed by a fold, as in a flower or leaf or in any roll or in the joined hands, దొప్ప. A flower basket, పూలబుట్ట. A horse's hoof, గుర్రపు కాలిగొర౛. Burning or refining a metal, calcining a medicinal drug. A kind of horse's pace, అశ్వగతిభేదము. నాసికాపుటము the calix of the nose, i.e., the nose. పుటముపెట్టు or పుటమువేయు to heat metal in the fire, to calcine a drug. 'పనివిని తీవెగుంపనక, పాండురసైకత నిర్ఘరీతటం బనక, దరీపుటం బనక, నన్నియు నారసి.' Vasu. ii. 46. పుటముబ్బ puṭam-ubbu. (పుటము+ఉబ్బు.) v. n. To swell upwards, మీదికుబ్బు. పుటమొగయు puṭam-cgayu. v. n. (p. 798) pai or పయి pai. [Tel.] n. The upper part of any thing, the outer part or exterior మీదు, ఉపరిభాగము. adj. Upper, higher superior. External. Extra. పైచుంగుడి petty sums that remain over. వానిపైబట్ట the garment he had on. ఆపైయేడు the next year, either before or after, ముందుఏడు. పైవిరోధము seeming enmity. పైపనులు the further acts; also, out-door work. వాడు నాకు పైచెయ్యిగానుండును he is my superior. వట్టిపైమాటలు this is mere talk. పైమినుకు mere external beauty. పైవెల్లువ freshes in a river. దానికి అందరును పైబడుదురు all are eager to get it. పైకొను or పయికొను pai-konu. v. n. and a. To exceed మీరు ఆ గుర్రమునకు అందరును పైబడుచున్నారు all of them are contending for the horse. M. x. i. 145. పైపాటు pai-pāṭu. n. An attack or encounter, కవియుట. పైపైగా pai-pai-gā. adv. Easily, superficially, cursorily, సులభముగా. పైయెద్దు or పైవన్నెయెద్దు pai-y-eddu. n. An ox with the belly alone white, called a sheeted ox. పైవిలాసము pai-vilāsamu. n. (p. 845) prāṇamu prāṇamu. [Skt.] n. Air, wind, breath, life, vitality, the living soul. గాలి, హృదయమందలి గాలి, హృదయమందలిగాలి, ఉసురు. In Grammar, a vowel. ప్రాణముతోనున్నవాడు one who is yet living. కొనప్రాణముతోనున్నాడు he is nearly dead. ప్రాణమువిడిచెను he breathed his last, gave up the ghost. పంచప్రాణములు pancha-prāṇamulu. n. The five vital airs, called ప్రాణము, అపానము, సమాణము, ఉదానము, వ్యాసము. అతడు దానిమీద ప్రాణములు విడుస్తున్నాడు or వానికి దానిమీద పంచప్రాణములు he loves her very dearly. ప్రాణముమీదకువచ్చేపని a most perilous affair. వానిప్రాణము మీదికి వచ్చినది he is in danger of his life. ప్రాణముతో పట్టుకొనిరి they caught him alive. నా ప్రాణముపోయినా ఇట్లు చెప్పుదునా I will not say so even if it should cost me my life. వాడు పిడికిట ప్రాణములు పట్టుకొని వచ్చినాడు he arrived half dead. వానికి నేర్పుట ప్రాణసంకటమవును it would cost immense labour to teach him. ఆ విగ్రహమునకు ప్రాణప్రతిష్ఠచేసినారు literally, they gave life to the image, i.e., they performed the ceremony by which the god is supposed to be lodged in the image. ప్రాణత్యాగము suicide, ఆత్మహత్య. ప్రాణాతురము or ప్రాణసంకటము deadly peril. 'ప్రాణాతురమైనచో పరిణయంబులయందును బల్కుబొంకు సత్యాతిశయంబు.' M. III. v. 67. ప్రాణాపాయము mortal danger. ప్రానావనము saving the life. ప్రాణావసానకాలమున in his last moments. ప్రాణాహుతి the five morsels offered to the five vital principles. ప్రాణస్నేహము intimate friendship. ప్రాణదానముచేసినాడు he gave them their lives, he spared their lives. నా ప్రాణము ఉండేమట్టుకు as long as I live. ప్రాణగొడ్డము prāṇa-goḍḍamu. n. XII. ii. 208. ప్రాణదుడు prāṇa-duḍu. n. The giver of life, the creator. బ్రహ్మ. ప్రాణనాధుడు or ప్రాణేశుడు prāna-nādhuḍu. n. The lord of (her) life, i.e., a husband or lover, మగడు. Yama, యమధర్మరాజు. ప్రాణవాయువు prāṇa-vāyuvu. n. Oxygen gas. ప్రాణాచారము prāṇā-chāramu. See ప్రాయోపవేశము. ప్రాణాయామము prāṇā-yāmamu. n. A ritual mode of breathing, while mentally reciting certain prayers, stopping one nostril and inhaling or exhaling with the other: నాసికారంధ్రము లవద్ధనుండు వాయువును మంత్రపూర్వకముగా నిరోధించుట. A. iii. 88. ప్రాణి prāṇi. n. A being, or living creature. జంతువు.

(p. 989) mīḍu mīdu. [Tel.] n. The upper surface; top, head. ఉపరిభాగము, ఊర్ధ్వము. Futurity. భవిష్యత్కాలము. What is vowed, or set aside for sacrifice, దేవతకు నియమించిన ముడుపు. (infl. of మీదు) adj.
