(p. 260) kalpamu kalpamu. [Skt.] n. An age. A religious rule. A code or description of religious rites. A legend or pious tale. Thus; వరలక్ష్మీవ్రతకల్పము the legend or book regarding this observance బ్రహ్మకల్పము an age of Brahma equal to many millions of years. A series of publications as of a journal; as ప్రథమకల్పము first series, ద్వితీయకల్పము second series, &c. adj. That which equivalent to or that which is almost the same as. సమానమైనది. A word (like ish, in blackish, whitish) denoting similarity. ద్వీపకల్పము a peninsula. కరకల్పము like a hand. తటిత్కల్పమైన resembling lighting కల్పాంతము kalp-āntamu. n. The destruction of the world. The end of time. ప్రళయము. A Brahma's day. బ్రహ్మదినము. కల్పుడు kalpuṭn. One who is similar to, or equal to. విద్వత్కల్పుడు almost a scholar. అగ్నికల్పుడు he who is similar (in excellence) to the god of fire. M. XIII. ii. 332.

(p. 302) kūṭamu or కూటాము kūṭamu. [Tel. from కూడు. n. An assembly, or court. A hall. కొలువుకూటము, చావడి. కూటము kūṭamu. [Skt.] n. The peak or top of a hill. కొండకొమ్ము. A heap of grain. ప్రోగు. Fraud, trick. కపటము. Conspiracy. కుట్ర. కూటహర్మ్యము kūṭa-harmyamu. n. The hall of audience. రాజనగరులో లక్ష్మీవిలాసము అనే కూటము. 'హరిహయమణి వలయకూట హర్మ్య విహారీ' Manu. iii. 177. కూటస్థానము kūṭa-sthānamu. n. A focus, centre, place of meeting. See కూటమి. కూటముత్యము n. A dead pearl: meaning one without brilliancy. Also, an artificial pearl. మనుష్యులచేత చేయ బడునట్టి ఒక విధమైన ముత్యము. కూతసాక్ష్యము kūṭa-sākshyamu. n. False evidence.

(p. 384) geṇṭasamu genṭasamu. [Tel.] n. A cross or abusive speech: harshness, crossness. పరుషవచనము. 'ఉ నిష్కంటకమైననాపలుకు గైకొనవేనిహితంబుగూడదీ, గెట సమేలమీదబలు కీడు సుమీవివరించి చూడగన్.' HK. iii. 247.

(p. 799) paidali or పయిదలి paidali. [Tel. from పయ్యెద, lit: పయ్యెదగలది.] n. A woman. స్త్రీ. 'పడుచులు పైదలులుమేముం, బడిబాయక వెంట తొంటి పనులను మీవెంబడి.' R. ii. 7.

(p. 958) marulu marulu. [from Skt. స్మర.] n. Love, desire, lust, మోహము, కామము. A demon, పిశాచము, మరులెత్తినకైనడి as if love stricken. మరులుకొను maralu-konu. v. n. To fall in love, మోహించు, మరులుకొలుపు marulu-kolupu. v. a. To allure, enamour, to cause to love, మోహింపజేయు మరులు౛డ మరులుతీగె or మరులుమాతంగి marulu-dzaḍa. n. A creeper or plant which, as soon as touched, makes one fall in love with another, Orris root: a kind of bent grass. 'మరులుతీగెమెట్టియిరులన్ననో యని యెడు, తమిస్ర గాడుపడి.' A. vi. 11. మరులు మందు or మరులమందు a love potion. ముట్టిన తోడనే మరులుపుట్టించు ఓషధి. భూతికేశము, లోమీవృక్షము. మరులురేడు the lord of the demons, పిశాచములరాజు. ఉ. హరి. ii.

(p. 989) mī mī. [Tel. Contracted for మీది or మీదు.] adj. Upper, above. మీగడ or మీవడ mīgaḍa. (మీదు + వడ.) n. Cream, కాగినపాల మీది తెట్టె. మీగడకట్టినది the cream has formed. పాలమీగడలు a name given to a fine sort of rice. H. iv. 156. మీడగపెరుగు curds with the cream on it. మీగాలు mī-gālu. (మీదు + కాలు.) n. The upper part of the foot, పాదముమిది పైభాగము. మీ జెయ్యి mī-jeyyi. (మీదు + చెయ్యి.) n. The back of the hand. కరపృష్ఠము, చేతిమిది పై భాగము.

(p. 1095) lakṣmī lakshmi. [Skt.] n. Lakshmi, the wife of Vishṇu, the goddess of prosperity. Wealth, fortune, సంపద. Beauty, splendour. శోభ. Turmeric. పసపు. 'శుభశాశ్వత లక్ష్ములునీకుగలిగెడును.' A man of wealth. భాగ్యవంతుడు, సంపదగలవాడు. లక్ష్మీవారము lakshmī-vāramu. n. Thursday, గురువారము, బృహస్పతివారము, బేసవారము.

(p. 1137) valati or వలంతి valati. [Tel.] n. A genius, a skilful person. నేర్పరి. A woman, ఆడుది A place, చోటు. 'నీవడవికరుగ నొడబడి, నీవెను కనెవచ్చినపుడ నిందింతురుమమ్మీవెర్రులితనిమాన్పం గావలతులుగారెయని జగజ్జనులధిపా.' M. XIII. i. 79. 'భాషాకృతిజెప్పవలతులప్ప ద్మముఖులు.' A. i. 13. adj. Obtained, got, పొందబడిన, అధీనమైన. Handsome, elegant, అందమైన. Agreeable. హితమైన, అనుకూలమైన. 'మరకరంద మధుపాన మత్తరోలంబనికరారంబైన నీరజాకరము, వలతియైయాసరోవర సమిపమున నొలసిన యొప్పుతో నొకతపోవనము.' DRU. 1104. వలచితనము valati-tanamu. n. Cleverness, skilfulness. నేర్పు, గట్టితనము. 'వలతి తనం బెలయగనాచెలి కానికినుత్తరంబు చెప్పుచు.' Rasica. v. 132.

(p. 1157) vāru vāru. [Tel. plu. of వాడు. he.] pron. They, వాండ్రు. It is also thus used, as equivalent to people folk. నావారు my people. మీవారు your people. ఈ యూరివారు the people of this village. నేను చూచినవారు the people whom I saw. Added to some nouns it has an honorific sense, as దేవరవారు, దొరవారు your honor. Infl. వారి their. వారు v. n. To flow down, or drain off, as water from boiled rice, వడియు, గంజిమొదలైనదికారు. To be lessened or diminished, ఉడుగు. v. a. To pare or cut thin, as the ends of a palm leaf. తాటాకు ఓరచివ్వు. వారుకొను vāru-konu. v. a. To take up by the handful. Metaphorically, to get, gain, possess oneself of. పిడికిళ్లాదిగా ఎత్తుకొను, పొందు; చెందు. నన్ను మోసము చేసి వాడేమి వారుకొన్నాడు has he gained any thing by cheating me? వారుచు or వార్చు vāruṭsu. (causal of వారు) v. a. To touch water with the lips and cast it away. ఆచమించు. To cause to flow, వారజేయు. గంజివార్చు to pour off the water from boiled rice by inclining the vessel, వారు నట్టుచేయు. To expect, ప్రతీక్షించు, ఉద్దేశించు. సంధ్యవార్చు to offer up prayers: (because while uttering the prayer called సంథ్య they let water run through their hungers.) 'హేమకుంభ జలములనొగివార్చి జలకంబుదీర్చి.' DRU. 774. 'సంధ్యవార్చువేళ.' G. vi. 17. వారుపు or వార్పు vārupu. n. The act of straining water or letting it flow, ఆచమనము. Water poured off from boiling rice, గంజి.
