(p. 127) āvēśamu āvēṣamu. [Skt.] n. Possession. Inspiration (by the deity), possession (by evil spirits), fury, demoniac frenzy. అతనికి ఆవేశము వచ్చినది he is possessed. ఆవేశనము āvēsanamu. n. A manufactory or workshop పట్టడ. ఆవేశించు āvēṣinṭsu. v. a. To enter in, to possess (as a demon does.) ప్రవేశించు, చొచ్చు. ఆవేష్టకము āvēshṭakamu. n. A hedge, fence or enclosure. ముండ్లకంచె.

(p. 198) ēdu or ఏదువంది ēdu. [Tel.] n. A procupine. ముండ్లపంది. One species is called కోడియేదు but in the south it is called ఒంటరికాడు. HD. i. 512. ఏదుపెరికినట్లు or ఏదుపంది ముండ్లు తీసినట్లు like pulling out the porcupines quills. ఏదువాసన a disgusting smell like that of a porcupine. cf. 'It stinks like a badger.' ఏదుకర్రలవంకెలు (H. iv. 159.) a sort of grain. ఏదుగడ్డి ēdu-gaḍḍi. n. Andropagon contortus, or the Spear grass. (Watts.) ఏదువేట ēdu-vēṭa. n. (p. 559) toḍugara or తొడుగర్ర toḍu-gara. (తొడుగు+కర్ర.) n. A bundle of thorny brushwood. ముండ్లలకంపమోపు. 'మంచపు తొడుగరలైరట్టె.' మంచమునకంటుకొనిపోయిరి. Swa. iii. 166.

(p. 559) toḍugu , తొడగు, తొడ్గు, తొడవు or తొడువు toḍugu. [Tel.] v. a. To put on or wear (dress, jewels, a shape, &c.) To place an arrow on the bowstring. To prepare. To begin. M. XII. v. 88. యత్నపడు, ధరించు, ఆరంభించు, బాణమును ధనుస్సునందు సంధానముచేయు. 'తొడవింటివాడు' One who has drawn his bow. ఎక్కుపెట్టినబిల్లు తోడ నదలించుకొనిపోవువాడు. A. vi. 102. n. An ornament. ఆభరణము. (p. 689) pandi pandi. [Tel.] n. A hog. ఊరపంది the domesticated pig. అడవిపంది the wild hog. a boar. ఏదుపంది or ముండ్లపంది a porcupine. నీరుపంది a porpoise. పందికొక్కు pandi-kokku. [Lit. The pig-rat. The Eng. n. 'Bandicoot,' is a corruption of this word.] n. A Bandicoot. The Bandicoot-Rat. Nesocia bandi-cota. (F.B.I.) సీమపందికొక్కు a guinea pig. A proverb says వడ్లగాదెలో పందికొక్కును పెట్టినట్టు, i.e., setting a bandicoot in a granary. cf. Setting the wolf to take care of the sheep. పందిగడ్డ pandi-gaḍḍa. n. The name of a certain edible root. The pignut. శృంగాటకము, పరికెదుంప. పందిగోరు pandi-gōru. n. A boar's tusk or claw. A weapon used by boar hunters, వేటకాని సాధనవిశేషము. పందిజిట్ట or పందిపిట్ట pandi-jiṭṭa. n. The small White throated Babbler, Dumetia albigularis (F.B.I.) పందిపోటు or పందీటె pandi-pōṭu. n. A spear used to hunt boars with. పందిముక్కు, పందిమూతి or పందిపీట pandi-mukku. n. A kind of step used in old fashioned carts. గాడీమొదలైన ఎక్కుడు బండ్ల చివరను పందిమూతి వలె నమర్చిన ఒకవిధమైన ఉపకరణము.

(p. 895) būraga , బూరుగ, బూరుగు or బూరువు būraga. [Tel.] n. The silk cotton tree. Bombax heptaphylla, Rox. iii. 167. శాల్మలి. Its wood is like the poplar or sallow proverbially large and useless. వాడు వట్టి బూరగమాను he is a mere log, he is a stupid booby. One species is called కుక్కబూరగ; another is దుంకిబూరగచెట్టు. Briedelia scandens Rox. iii. 737. బూరగదూది the cotton found in these pods, which steeped in nitre, is used for tinder. ముండ్లబూరగమాను. Bombax malabaricum (Wight, plate 297 and Watts.) బూరుగు దీవి the name of an island, శాల్మలద్వీపము.

(p. 992) muṇḍlu, muṇḍulu or ముళ్లు munḍlu. [Tel. plu of ముల్లు.] n. Thorns. కంటకములు. ముండులవాన a shower of prickles (discharged by a porcupine, &c.) KP. vi. 9. ముండ్ల munḍla. adj. (ముల్లు + ఆకురాయి.) n. A rough file. ముల్లుచిత, ములుచిత or ముండ్లమునై mull-uchita. n. The name of a thorny plant. whose leaves are eaten. ఒకవిధమైన కూరాకు.

(p. 1351) sela sela. [from Skt. శిలా.] n. A fountain head. అంబుజన్మదేశము, నదీమూలము. A hill stream or torrent. సెలయేరు. A twig, బరిక. A burrow, a hole, బొరియ, బొక్క. A line or streak, జీర. The mouth or orifice of an ulcer, వ్రణమునందు చీమువ్యాపించురంధ్రము. The point of an arrow, బాణపుములికి. [from Skt. శలమ్.] n. A porcupine's quill, ఏదుపందిముల్లు. [from Skt. శల్యం.] n. A bamboo rod or stake, a slender stick. A shepherd's crook. చెయ్యీటె, చిరుతకట్టె, సన్నకర్ర, శరము, మూరెడుకట్టె చబుకుకట్టినది. 'కట్టిన నీలిదిండ్లు సెలకట్టియవిండ్లునువిండ్ల గౌసెనల్.' Swa. iv. 43. 'క మొలదట్టి చెరగుచెక్కుచు, బలుదిట్టకిరాతుడొకడు పటువగుముష్టిన్, సెలకట్టెబట్టివేరొక. సెలకట్టెంగొట్టివైచె జెమరుంగాకిన్.' Swa. iv. 83. 'కనిచేతన్ సెలగోలవట్టికొనుచున్ కానిమ్ముకానిమ్మురా.' BX. 349. సెలపంది sela-pandi. n. A porcupine, ఏదుపంది, ముండ్లపంది. సెలపారు, సెలవడు, సెలవారు or సెలవేయు sela-pāru. v. n. To fester or run into sinuses; to break into holes as a bad sore or ulcer. పుంటిలలో బొక్కలుపడి మూలమూలకు పారు. సెలబారినపుండు or సెలపుండు a sinuous ulcer which breaks into holes. ఆ పుండు సెలలుపారుచున్నది the ulcer breaks into holes.
