To demand an article over and above, or into the bargain. To be greedy. To be eager for. To hesitate. సంకోచించు. v. t. To pray ప్రార్థించు. కొసరించు kosar-inṭsu. n. To demand more; to be exorbitant. n. Eagerness, lust, greediness, pruriency, hankering, cupidity; what is demanded over and above; what is asked into the bargain. Desire, cupidity కోరిక. (p. 386) goggi goggi. [Tel.] adj. Uneven, irregular, up and down, in and cut. ఎచ్చుతక్కువైన గొగ్గిపండ్లు goggi-panḍlu. n. Uneven teeth. A proverb says. కుక్కకువచ్చేవన్ని గొగ్గిపండ్లు all a dog's teeth are crooked, i.e., all one does is wrong, he cannot do any thing properly. గొగ్గిముత్తెము goggi-muttemu. n. A pear-shaped pearl. కొసగలముత్తెము.

(p. 533) tīga , తీగె or తీవ tīga. [Tel.] n. A creeping plant or vine; a tendril or spray. లత. A wire, the string of a lute, తంతి. A necklace of gold wire, a gold or silver belt, మొల నూలు. A gold ornament worn by women, బంగారుపట్టెడ. ప్రేముతీగలు the rattan lacing in a chair. మెరుపుతీగె a flash of lightning. పాచితీగె, బంగారుతీగె, &c., are various creepers. తీగెగరక tīge-garika. n. A creeping species of bent grass, called Agrostis stolonifera. తీగబచ్చలి a creeper, Convolvuḷus repens. See బచ్చలి. తీగయిల్లు an arbour పొదరిల్లు. తీగయెలుగు a low voice హీనస్వరము. తీగబోడి tīga-bōdi. n. A slight and graceful girl. తీగమల్లె the creeping Jasmine. తీగమెరుగు tīga-merugu. n. Lightning without thunder ఉరుములేని మెరుపు. A sort of grain. తీగమోడి tīga-mōḍi. n. Patterns of flourishes or carved work in carpentry. వ్రాతపని. ముత్తెములు తీగెమోడికుట్టే పనులు embroidery in the fashion of sprigs of pearl. తీగసాగు tīga-sāgu. v. n. To increase, to prosper వర్ధిల్లు. గార బాగా తీగెలు సాగేలాగున కలిపిరి they mixed the mortar till it was of a proper consistency. తీగలుపారు to spread వ్యాపించు. తీగవిలుకాడు an epithet of Manmadha. తీగసరులు a kind of rice ధ్యాన్యవిశేషము.

(p. 560) toragu or తొరుగు toragu. [Tel.] v. n. To flow, gush, burst, out, run. కారు, స్రవించు, ప్రవహించు, జారు, రాలు. To fall, పడు. v. a. To leave, quit. వదలు, విడుచు. 'క మునుకొని కన్నీరు తొరుగ మొగి నిట్లనియెన్.' Vish. v. 237. 'తే తదభిషేకంబునను వారిధారలిట్లు, తొరగుననన్నట్లు ముత్తెముల్ దోయిలించి.' T. v. 188. తొరగుచొచ్చు or తొరగుపోవు toragu-ṭsoṭsṭsu. v. n. (p. 932) mañci manchi. [Tel.] n. Good, మేలు, మంచి చెబ్బరలు good and evil. adj. Good, excellent, best; sound, fine, fair; much, great, severe (as a blow, a fever,) heavy (as rain.) adv. Very, మిక్కిలి. వాడు మంచివాడు he is a good man. మంచివారితో చెలిమిచేయుము seek the company of good men. మంచిపేరు a good name, i.e., reputation, character. వాడు మంచిపేరెత్తినాడు he gained good repute. మంచినీళ్లు good or drinkable water. వానితో మంచిమాటలాడి ఆ పుస్తకమును తెస్తిని. I spoke him fair, and brought the book. దీవియొక్క మంచి చెడుగులు వానికి నిమిత్తములేదు, లేక. దీని మంచి చెడ్డలతో వానికి ప్రసక్తిలేదు he has nothing to do with its good or evil fortune. మంచిగందము sandal, శ్రీచందనము. మంచిగాయము a severe wound. మంచిచేయి the right hand. మంచిదెబ్బ a sound or severe blow. మంచినిద్ర sound sleep. మంచినూనె sesamum oil. మంచిపాము a venomous snake, i.e., the cobra. మంచిపగడము real coral. మంచిపాలు pure milk, i.e., unmixed with water. మంచిముత్తెము a true pearl. మంచివాన heavy rain. ఇది మంచిబంగారా, కాకిబంగారా is this real gold or tinsel? ఒకటి మంచికుక్క ఒకటి వెర్రికుక్క one dog is sound, the other is mad. వానిమీద మంచితప్పు మోపినారు they have brought a serious charge against him. మంచిది పో well, you may go! మంచిది కానీ well, be it so! మంచితనము manchi-tanamu. n. Goodness, friendliness, gentleness. వానిని మంచితనము చేసికొన్నారు they spoke him fair or got him over. మంచితనాన అయ్యేది చెడుతనాన కాదు you may do that by fair means, which you cannot do by violence.

(p. 933) mañjari manjari. [Skt.] n. A tender branch of a tree with sprouted leaves, చిగిరించిన లేతకొమ్మ. A posy, bunch of flowers or leaves, nosegay. పూగుత్తి, చిగురుగుత్తి. (Used of a collection of proverbs or poems, నీతిమంజరి.) A large pearl, పెద్దముత్తెము.)

(p. 946) maṇi maṇi. [Skt.] n. A gem, a precious stone. పచ్చరాయిలోనగునది. A pearl, ముత్తెములోనగునది. In compounds this denotes Unrivalled excellence, as నాయికామణి a woman who is a gem of her sex. వప్రమణి the noblest of Brahmins. సుందరీమణి the loveliest of women. అంగనామణులు lovely women. దినమణి the gem of day, i.e., the sun. నవమణులు nine precious stones, viz. గోమేధికము Onyx, నీలము Sapphire, పగడము Coral, పుర్యరాగము Topaz, మరకతము Emerald, మాణిక్యము Ruby, Carbuncle; ముత్యము Pearl, వైడూర్యము Cat's eye. lapis lazuli; వజ్రము Diamond. మణులుచెక్కిన సంకెళ్లు jewelled fetters, i.e., disguised difficulties. మణికంఠము maṇi-kanṭhamu. n. The Indian Roller, Corracia indica, చాషము, పాలపిట్ట మణికట్టు, మనికట్టు or మణిబంధము maṇi-kaṭtu. [Tel.] n. The wrist; మణికట్లను తెగగొట్టు to cut off the hands. మణికారుడు maṇi-kāruḍu. n. A jeweller. A lapidary, or worker in precious stones. రత్నములు సానబట్టువాడు. మణిపట్టు maṇi-paṭṭu. n. A sort of flowered silk. ఒకవిధమైనపట్టు. మణిప్రవాళము maṇi-pravāḷamu. n. A doggerel verse: or a mixed language, part Sanscrit, part Telugu or Tamil, రెండు భాషలు కలిసిన. ముణిభతు maṇi-phittu. n. A diamond. Lit. 'the ruby cutter.' కలిసిన కవిత్వము. మణిమాల, మణిమాలిక or మణిబిందుమాలికా maṇi-māla. n. An impression left by a bite. దంతక్షతవిశేషము. A necklace. హారము. 'కమనీయమణిమాలికా శశ పదచంద్రరేఖాంకమౌతనూ రేఖతోడ.' (p. 995) mukku or ముకు mukku. [Tel.] n. The nose. నాసిక. The bill or beak of a bird, పక్షిముఖము. The point or tip. చనుముక్కు a nipple. ముక్కు౛ోడనలు a double nose. ౛మిలిముక్కు. 'మునవనల్ దమిబట్టి ముంగాళ్ల ముక్కుజోడనలచీలిచి.' A. v. 122. ముక్కుడుస్సిన uncurbed, broken loose, rampant, ముక్కుతాడుతీసిన. 'వసుధేశముక్కుడుస్సిన పసరముక్రియ.' A. vi. 53. ముక్కుబంటి యైనదనుక satiating his nostrils with fragrance to the full. P. iii. 224. చిలుకముక్కులు and జీనువముక్కులు two sorts of grain. రెండుముక్కులపిట్ట (the double beaked bird) also called మూడు ముక్కలపిక్క and ఎబ్బెరపిక్క the Hornbill, or Toucan. Jerdon. No. 198. 'ముండగోష్ఠికి ముక్కు మొగమేడతనకు.' HD. ii. 1059. ముక్కు మొగము ఎగనట్టు మాట్లాడినాడు he talked as if I was a perfect stranger to him. ముక్కుపట్టనిముత్తెము a pearl not suited to the nose, i.e., a round man in a square hole. ముక్కుకమ్మిక a certain useless forest tree. ముక్కు mukku. v. n. To moan, groan. To mould or turn musty. To spoil or become half rotten. To strain or press, (as in pain.) ముక్క mukka. (Root in A of ముక్కు to be musty or mouldy, &c.) ముక్కపురుగులు weevils in spoilt grain, తవుటిపురుగులు. ముక్కకంపు a frowzy smell. తర్వాత తొండూరిగ్రామము ముక్క ఉరికినందున ఆ నెత్తము విరిచిరి a disease has appeared which is peculiar to that place. ముత్యాలు ముక్కిపోయినవి the pearls were spoiled. ముక్కుగోళ్లు, ముకుగోళ్లు, ముకుగ్రోళ్లు, ముక్కు జెరములు, ముక్కుచెరములు or ముక్కురంధ్రములు mukkugōḷḷu. n. plu. The frame in which the roller (పుల్లిరుసు) of a కపిల well rolls. ముక్కరము muk-ka-ramu. (ముక్కు + కారెము.) n. A nostril, నాసికారంధ్రము. ముక్కిడి mukkiḍi (ముక్కు + ఇడి) adj. Noseless. ముక్కులేని. ముక్కిడిరోగము caries of the bones of the nose. 'ముక్కిడి తొత్తుకు ముత్తెంపునత్తేల.' రామలింగశతకము. ముక్కిడి or కొండముక్కిడి. n. A certain large tree, Schrebera swietenoides. Rox. i. 109. ముక్కుదూలము or ముకుదూలము mukku-dūlam. n. The bridge or division of the nose. ముక్కునడిమియెముక. ముక్కుపురిడి or ముక్కుపూరేడుపిట్ట mukku-puriḍi. n. The common snipe. Lit: a crop of pearls, an epithet applied to a sugar cane, చెరకు. ముత్తెపురిక్క నెల muttepu-rikka-nela. n. An epithet applied to the month, చైత్రమాసము. ముత్తెపుసవతు muttepu-savatu. n. The lunar mansion called చిత్రానక్షత్రము. ముత్తెసరి mutte-sari. n. A pearl necklace, ముక్తాహారము. A kind of grain, ధాన్యవిశేషము.
