(p. 558) toṭṭu or తొట్టుకొను toṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To spread వ్యాపించు. To happen, come on (as thirst,) to chance ఆవిర్భవించు, పుట్టు, సంభవించు. To flow ప్రవహించు, స్రవించు. 'పిట్టవునీవు వారినిధి బెద్దలకెల్లను బెద్ద వెల్లిగా దొట్టు నొకానొకప్పుడతి దూరముతుంగ తరంగసంఘముల్ బిట్టడుచున్' P. i. 546. టీ వెలల్లిగాదొట్టు. వెల్లువగా ప్రవహించును. To stop up from flowing ఎగదట్టు. 'క ధరిత్రీవిభుడువేయిచేతుల, నావాహినినీరు తొట్టునట్లుగబట్టెన్.' V. P. vi. 199. To be filled నిండుకొను. 'చెక్కులదొట్టిన కన్నీరు వోవ దుడుచుచు బలికెన్.' Swa. iii. 52. To move జరగు. 'పొట్టలుచీలినదొట్టువారు.' రా: యు, కాం. v. t. To touch, స్పృశించు. To adopt, అవలంబించు. To begin, మొదలుపెట్టు. 'అత్తూపుగముల దుత్తురముగా దొట్టిమట్టాడి అట్టహాసంబుచేసి.' R. v. 191. తుత్తురముగా దొట్టి = తుత్తురుముచేసి. తొట్టు totṭu. n. A field within the bed of a tank. చెరువు కట్టలోపలి పొలము. A side, direction, quarter. పార్శ్వము, వైపు, దిక్కు. 'పార్థివచనుమేతొట్టున బొరలకుమనవుడు.' G. V. 257. Profit, gain. ఫలము, లాభము. Connection, relationship సంబంధము, స్పృక్కు. A sudden sound తటాలనుధ్వని. Also, same as తెట్టువ. (q. v.) తొట్టున toṭṭuna. adv. Quickly, at once. దబ్బున. తొట్టువ Same as తెట్టువ.

(p. 640) nāndi nāndi. [Skt.] n. A preliminary. The exordium, prelude, prologue dedication, or praise of a deity, recited in benedictory verses at the commencement of a religious ceremony or poem. నాందీ యాగము the opening rite. Anand. vi. 1. The opening benedictory verses in a drama. నాటకప్రథమాంగము, మొదలుపెట్టడము. నాందీకరుడు or నాందివాది nāndī-karuḍu. n. One who pronounces the benediction. ఆశీర్వాదముచేయువాడు.

(p. 940) maggamu maggamu. [Tel.] n. A loom, నేతి యంత్రము మగ్గముపెట్టు to set to work, మొదలుపెట్టు, ఆరంభించు. నా మగ్గము చెడగొట్టినాడు he baffled my efforts. మగ్గరి maggari. (మగ్గము + అరి.) n. A weaver, సాలెవాడు.

(p. 1035) moga moga. [from Skt. ముఖము.] n. The tip, point, end; the beginning, మొదలు. The mouth of a river, &c. మొన, నదీ సముద్రాదుల ముఖము. An entrance, ద్వారము. ఆ మొగను at the beginning. A blossom, మొగ్గ. మొగకొను moga-konu. v. n. To begin, commence. మొదలుపెట్టు. To meet, turn the face towards, అభిముఖమగు. 'వినుడీసుఖదుఃఖము లనిత్యములుగాన వాని యాగమకాలంబున ముదము శోకము మొగకొననీయమి యురువుశాంతి గోరుజనులకున్.' M. XII. i. 196. See మొగదల.

(p. 1039) modalu modalu. [Tel. infl. మొదటి or మొదలిటి. abl. మొదట. plu. మొదళ్లు.] n. The beginning, origin, source. అది, మూలము. The root, stock. వృక్షమూలము. Principal, capital as opposed to interest. మూలధనము, అసలు. The chief, the head; the foundation of a thing, the basis. The foot of a mountain. చెవిమొదలు the lower tip of the ear. వడ్డీమొదలు interest and principal. వాడు మొదలే మంచివాడుకాడు in fact he is not a good man. మొదల, అనగా మూలమునందు at the root. మొదలు, మొదలుగ, మొదలైన, మొదలుగా or మొదలుగాగల modalu. adv. Etcetera. భేరిమొదలుగ drums, &c. (literally, beginning with the drum.) వాడు వచ్చినది మొదలు or మొదలుగ since his arrival. మొదలుకొను or మొదలగు modalu-konu. v. a. To begin. ప్రారంభించు. ఇది మొదలుకొని henceforth, beginning from this. వాడు వచ్చినది మొదలుకొని since his arrival. మొదలుచెడు modalu-cheḍu. v. n. To be ruined, root and branch. తుట్రమరచెడు. మొదలుపెట్టు modalu-peṭṭu. v. a. To begin. ఆరంభించు. మొదట modaṭa. adv. At first, at the beginning, in the first place మొట్టమొదట moṭṭa-modaṭa. (మొదలు + మొదలు.) adv. At the very beginning, at first, first of all, ప్రప్రథమమందు. మోవదటి modaṭi. adj. First, earliest, original, primary, principal, capital, chief. వాడు అబద్ధాలకు మొదటిపాదము he is the father of lies, వాడు కలహానికి మొదటిపాదము he was the beginner of the quarrel.

(p. 1092) raulu or రవులు Same as రగులు. (q. v.) రౌలుకొను raulu-konu. v. n. To take fire. to flame forth, కాలమొదలుపెట్టు. రౌలుకొలుపు raulu-kōlupu. v. a. To set on fire. ముందునట్లుచేయు. రౌలురోలు raulukōlu. n. The act of burning. రవులుకొనుట. రౌలుచు or రవులుచు Same as రగుల్చు.

BD. v. 208. విద్దెము or విద్దియము viddemu. n. The tottering gait of an infant. నిలువ మొదలుపెట్టే బిడ్డ ఆడే ఆట. 'జనకుండయ్యలు విద్దెమేదియనకృష్ణా రామగోవిందయంచునటించు.' N. iv. 165. విద్దెలాడు vidde-l-āḍu. v. n. To juggle, గారడివిద్యలుచేయు.

The handful of grain, &c., put down as a mark of reckoning. A fee rater at 16 or 18 మానికలు to the putti, or two rupees per kuchchela (కుచ్చెల.) ధాన్యము కొలవడములో కొత్తలెక్క మొదలుపెట్టునప్పుడు అనేమాట, అప్పుడు దోసిలోతో ఎత్తి కుప్పగా పోసేధాన్యము, పుట్టికింత అని యిచ్చేరుసుము. నూటికిపొడిచి సలగంటాడు he kills one hundred and cries 'That's one lot
