(p. 744) pāru pāru. [Tel.] v. n. To run or run away. పరుగెత్తు, పారిపోవు. To purge, పాచనములగు, పారుకొను. To fly or rise in the air, ఎగరు. To flow as water, ప్రవహించు. To creep or crawl, పాకు. To grow, or become. To take effect, as a spell or medicine. To begin. n. A ledge of rock, a flat rock under earth. మడుగులు చొరబారు మహిష సంఘంబులు the buffaloes were rushing to enter the pools. కుక్కను కొట్టితే యిల్లంతా పారును if you beat the dog it will befoul the house. ఈ యెండలో పారే పక్షులు మిడిసిపడి చచ్చును in this heat birds on the wing fall down dead. ఆ తోటకు ఈ నీళ్లు పారవు this water does not reach that garden. నీళ్లుపారనియేరు the river which has ceased to flow. నేలబారే నల్లచీమ a black ant that crawls on the earth. నాలుక నల్లబారినది the tongue turned black. నా మంత్రము పారలేదు my spell did not take effect. ఆకులు పండబారుచున్నవి the leaves are turning yellow అతనిమీద నా దృష్టి పారినప్పుడు when my eye lighted on him. ఆరాతిమీద నీడ పారినప్పుడు when the shadow fell on that stone. వాని మనసు దానిమీద పారుచున్నది his thoughts run or are bent on her. అది పగుళ్లుపారుచున్నది it is splitting. ఎండబారుచున్నది it is beginning to dry up. గడుసుపారు to grow hard. బిరుసుపారు to grow stiff 'అట్లు తన చేత హేతశేషులైన జనుల బారగనుగొని రథమెక్కి పటురయమున.' M. X. i. 198. పార౛లు pāra-ḍzallu. v. a. To sprinkle, or scatter abroad. పార౛ాచు pāraḍzāṭsu. v. a. To extend, as the arms or legs. కాళ్లుపార౛ాపు to open or straddle the legs. పార౛ూచు pāra-ḍzūṭsu. v. a. To look through, go over, view, examine well, వింతవారులేరుగదా యంచు సదనంబు పారజూచి.' T. iii. 128. పారదోలు pāra-dōlu. v. a. To drive out or away, to defeat, తరుము. పారబట్టు pāra-baṭṭu. v. a. To winnow in the wind, to let down grain against the wind. భవభయంబుల పారబట్టినవారు, అనగా పాపభీతిని తూలాయమానము చేసినవారు. L. ii. 29. and ii. 1. పారబత pāra-bōta. n. The act of pouring out or throwing away. పారబోయుట. పారబోయు pāra-bōyu. v. a. To pour away, to pour off, or empty out. కుమ్మరించు. పారమి pārami. [negative verbal noun from పారు.] n. The act of not flowing or running. ప్రవహింపకపోవుట, పరుగెత్తకపోవుట. 'పరికింపనెన్నాళ్లు పారమిడస్సి.' BD. iv. 1825. అనగా దినములు సుఖముగా జరుగనందుకు విసికి. పారవేయు or పారవైచు pāra-vēyu. v. a. To fling or throw away, to lose, విసిరివేయు, వదలవిడుచు, ౛ారవిడుచు. పారాడు pār-āḍu. (పారి+ఆడు.) v. n. To creep or crawl. పారిపోవు pāri-pōvu. v. n. To run away, escape. పారుకాడు pāruk-āḍu. (పారుక+ఆడు.) v. n. To run, పరుగెత్తు. To creep, to roam, to ramble. వెంట బడి వీధులందు పారుకాడెడి మృదుపదములవలన.' Sar. D. 615. పారుటక్క or పారుత paru-ṭ-akka. n. A Brahmin woman. A. 452. బ్రాహ్మణస్త్రీ. పారుటసురుడు pāru-ṭ-aṣuruḍu. n. A demon who was formerly a Brahmin, బ్రహ్మరాక్షసుడు. A. v. i. 57. పారుటాకులు pāru-ṭ-ākulu. n. Autumnal leaves. Leaves, which have got a red tinge but are not withered. (This is the clothing of hermits.) 'మంచెలమీదనెక్కి కటిమండలిచుట్టిన పారుటాకులిం, చించుకచంచలించి.' Kālahas. iii. 12. పారుడు pāruḍu. (పారు+వాడు.) n. A Brahmin. బ్రాహ్మణుడు. M. XII. iii. 460. A motion of the bowels, పాచనము. The act of flowing, ప్రవహించుట. A stream, ప్రవాహము. పారుతెంచు or పార్తెంచు pārutenṭsu. v. n. To come running, పరుగెత్తి వచ్చు. 'వచ్చిరాహవమొనరింపవారిలోన పడతియొక్కతె మున్నాడి పారుతెంచి.' Jaimini. v. 725. పారుబోతు or పారుమోరు pāru-bōtu. n. A fugitive, a coward. పిరికివాడు. పారువేట pāru-vēṭa. n. (p. 1036) mogali or మొగిలి mogali. [Tel.] n. The Screw Pine, or Mangrove, Mandanus odoratissimus. (Rox. iii. 738.) కేతకి. మొగిలిచాప a mat made of its leaves. మొగలాకుగొడుగు an umbrella made of its leaves. మొగిలిచండ్లు the drooping tips of the branches. మొగిలిపువ్వు the fragrant flower of this tree. మొగిలినాగు a snake said to be found in its flower. మొగలిరేకు a petal of its flower, or an ornament worn by women on the head. మొగలికోడి mogali-kōḍi. n. A watercock. ఒకపక్షి. మొగలిపనస mogali-panasa. n. The pineapple, అనాసచెట్టు మొగలేరు moga-lēru. (మొగలి + ఏరు.) n. The celestial river. ఆకాశగంగ. The name of a stream, also called సువర్ణముఖి. 'మొగలేటిమడువున' Kālahas. ii. 161. BD. iii. 349. మొగలివాకిలి mogali-vākili. n. An entrance to a town, తలవాకిలి. A town hall where criminal cases are tried. కచ్చేరి, హ౛ారము. 'పణిహారులు వేగను వీరచోడునింటను వెలుగొందుగిన్నె కపటంబునగైకొని దొంగవంచు నవ్వవజిదళాక్షినింమొగలివాకిటికీడిచి చోరదండన మొనరింప జూడగ.' Valeswara. v. 85.

(p. 1065) ravamu or రవణము rapaṇamu. [Tel.] n. Festivity, joy, delight, pleasure: సంబరము, సంతోషము, ఉల్లాసము. తనరపమై or తమరవంబై tana-rapam-ai. adv. As one pleases. gladly, delightfully. తనవశంబై, యథేచ్ఛముగా. ఉల్లాసముగా. 'అవుడాకీర్తిముఖుండు. .... రవణంబుప్పతిలం .... యచ్చపలాక్షిమణికిన్ వివాహమొనరింపంగార్యమూహింపుచున్.' S. i. 412. 'గర్జించుకంఠీ రవములు, నక్కడతమరపంబైయున్నవిపుడు, పిక్కటిల్లగదొడ్డి బెట్టినయట్లు.' Navanatha, page. 56. రపాలు ridicule. అగడము, అపహాస్యము.

(p. 1068) rasamu rasamu. [Skt.] n. Juice, fluid, liquid, extract, essence. Taste, flavour, రుచి. Taste, sentiment, emotion, passion, affection, humour. Quicksilver, పాదరసము. The షడ్రసములు or six flavours are మధురము or తీసి sweet; ఆమ్లము or పులుసు sour; తిక్తము or వగరు astringent; లవణము or ఉప్పు salt; కటువు or కారము pungent; కషాయము or చేదు bitter. రసఖండమైనభూమి or రసవత్తైనభూమి strong soil, which is not exhausted. నీరసమైనభూమి land that is exhausted. కోపరసము the spirit of wrath. దయారసము the spirit of love, kind feelings. ఈ పద్యములో రసములేదు this is a tasteless verse. విరసమైనమాటలు rude language. The nine రసములు or humours produce the following స్థాయీభావములు (symptoms.) 1. శృంగారరసము (love) produces రతి enjoyement. 2. నీరసము (honour) produces ఉత్సాహము daring. 3. కరుణారసము (mercy) begets విస్మయము marvel. 5. హాస్యరసము (merriment) produces హాస్యభావము laughter. 6. భయానకరసము (timidity) leads to భయము fright. 7. బీభత్సరసము (austerity) begets జుగుప్స sarcasm. 8. రౌద్రరసము (wrath) leads to క్రోధము cruelty. 9. శాంతరసము. (gentleness) produces శమభావము calmness. రసకర్పూరము rasa-karpūramu. n. A white sublimate or muriate of mercury, కర్పూరరసము. రసగుండు rasa-gunḍu. n. A ball coated with quicksilver, రసముపూరినగుండు. రసజ్ఞు rasa-gnya. n. The tongue, నాలుక. రజజ్ఞత rasa-gnyata. n. Skill, judgement, taste, critical discernment, తెలివి. రసజ్ఞుడు rasa-gnyuḍu. n. A man of taste, a critic. గుణదోషములనెరిగినవాడు. రసదాడి or రసదాళి rasa-dāḍi. n. Sugar cane. చెరుకు. 'మమధురస్థూలదాడిమబీజములతోడ, దసరారురసదాడిగనెలతోడ.' A. ii. 85. A fine sort of plantain. అరటిలో భేదము. రసదాళిక rusa-dāḷika. n. A kind of sugar, చెరుకుదినుసు. రసన rasana. n. The tongue., నాలుక. రసనేంద్రియము rasan-ēndriyamu. n. The sense of taste. రసవతి rasa-vati. n. A kitchen. వంటఇల్లు. రసవర్గములు rasa-vargamulu. n. plu. The various condiments or ingredients such as salt, pepper, &c. సంబారములు. రసవాదము rasa-vādamu. n. Alchemy, chemistry, పాదరసమునుకట్టి బంగారుచేయువిద్య. రసవాది rasa-vādi. n. An alchemist, a chemist, రసమునుకట్టి బంగారుచేయువాడు. రససిందూరము rasa-sindūramu. n. A sort of factitious cinnabar, made with zinc, mercury, blue vitriol and nitre, ఔషధవిశేషము. రససిద్ధి rasa-siddhi. n. Alchemy, రసవాదము. 'ధమనీయఖంబున గ్రాలించిమెరుంగుపసిడి గనెరససిద్దిన్.' R. vi. 10. రసాంజనము a kind of collyrium. అంజనవిశేషము. రసాతలము rasā-talamu. n. A name of Hades. పాతాళలోకము. రసాభాసము ras-ābhāsamu. n. Bad taste, inelegance. adj. Disagreeable, disgusting. విరసమైన. ఆ శ్లోకమును దిద్ది రసాబాసము చేసినాడు in correcting the verse he has spoiled it, he showed bad taste in correcting it. రసాభాసముగా మాట్లాడినాడు he spoke coarsely. ఆయిల్లు నిండా రసాభాసముగా నున్నది that house is very disagreeable. ఊరేగుచుండగా వాన వచ్చి అంతా రసాభాసమైపోయినది when the marriage procession was going on, there was a shower and everything was upset. రసాయనము ras-āyanamu. n. A panacea, a medicine preventing old age and prolonging life, జరావ్యాధిహరౌషధము. Butter milk, sweet curds, గోరసము, చల్ల. Poison, విషము. 'తననచో మాధుర్యమెనయు నా యివి చూడుమన్నట్లు మేలిరసాయనములు, ఒప్పుగా గిన్నియలనుంచి యపచరించి.' T. iii. 18. టీ రసాయనములు, తీసిగలిగిన పదార్థములు. రసాల rasāla. n. A pudding or mess of curds, mixed up with sugar and spices. పెరుగులో ననేక ద్రవ్యములు వేసి చేసినది. రసాలము rasālamu. n. The sugar cane, చెరుకు. Also, the sweet mango tree, తియ్యమామిడి చెట్టు. రసావళ్లు ras-āvaḷḷu. n. A kind of cakes. 'తన యింటనప్పుడాయితమొనరించినకమ్మదావు లొలుకురసావళ్లునుమినుపవడలు జాపట్లునుగోదుమ పిండివంటలున్ గలవనినన్.' Vish. iii. 377. రసి or రసిక rasi. [Tel.] n. The pus, or matter of a sore, serum. పుంటిచీము. రసిక rasika. [Skt.] n. A woman of taste. రసికురాలు. రసికత or రసికత్వము rasikata. [Skt.] n. Good taste or judgement. రసజ్ఞత. రసికుడు rasikuḍu. A man of taste. శృంగారాదిరసములను గ్రహించువాడు, రసజ్ఞుడు. రసితము rasi-tamu. n. Sound noise, thunder. ధ్వని, ఉరుము.

(p. 1128) vanaru vanaru. [Tel.] v. n. To grieve, pine, sorrow. దుఃఖపడు, శోకించు. విలపించు, దీనాలాపములాడు. వనరు, వనపు or వనట vanaru. n. Grief, pining. మనోదుఃఖ రూపమైనవిచారము, దుఃఖము, శోకము, వగపు. 'అనయంబునువనటమునిగి హాహారవముల్ విను వీధిముట్టరోదనమొనరించి.' M. XV. ii. 183.

(p. 1137) valadu or వద్దు valadu. [Tel. negative aorist of the verb వలయు.] v. Ought not, must not, do not. అట్లు ఉండవలదా or ఉండవద్దా should it not be so, ought it not to be so? నాకు వలదు or నాకు వద్దు I do not want it. అట్లు వద్దండి I pray you not to do so. అట్లలు చెప్పవలదు do not say so. నేను రావలదా am I not to come? ఈ రూకలు ఇయ్యవలదా is not this money to be paid? నాతో చెప్పవలదా should you not tell me? నన్ను వలదన (i.e., వద్దని చెప్పడమునకు) నీకు న్యాయముకాదు it is not right that you should forbid me? 'వలదుమీరలిచట వాగ్వాదమొనరింప' it is not right for you to begin a quarrel.
