(p. 504) tatamu tatamu. [Skt.] n. Any stringed musical instrument. వీణెలోనగు వాద్యము. adj. Spread, diffused, expanded, stretched, extended. తతరతి tata-rati. n. Insatiable or excessive pleasure. తతరతిమ్రొక్కి delightedly saluting him.

(p. 559) toḍi toḍi. [Tel.] n. A ferrule or ring of iron round a staff. పొన్ను. Haste, త్వర, సంభ్రమము. తొడితొడి toḍi-toḍi. adv. Instantly, at once. తొడితొడిజాగిలంబడి మ్రొక్కిమ్రొక్కి. Charitr. v. 537. తొడిబడు toḍi-baḍu. (తొడిన్+పడు.) v. n. To move, shake, waver. చలించు. To haste, hurry. To be perplexed or confused. తొట్రుపడు. To be scattered చెదరు. H. i. 307. R. v. 73.

(p. 692) pagaḍamu or పపడము pagaḍamu. [from Skt. ప్రవాళము.] n. Coral. పగడంపుతీగెలు a name of a kind of rice. పగడ pagaḍa. n. An ace; one at dice. ND. iii. 573. నేను పడడమునకు పగడ తప్పినది I was within an ace of falling. I all but fell. పగడసాల pagaḍa-sāla. n. A gaming table. సాగటాల పలక. Diceplay, a particular game played with dice on a coloured cloth, సొగటాల ఆట. 'పందెములు కోరి వైచుచు పగడసాల, తారతోనాడు హరిణాంకుజేరిమ్రొక్కి.' T. iv. 79.

(p. 712) paracu or పరుచు paraṭsu. [Tel. causal of పడు.] v. a. and v. n. To cause to fall, పడజేయు. To make or cause. To spread over, as a mat. To expand or spread. To go, to run. To run away. To urge or cause to run. To flow as water. To pass as time. To make one enjoy or suffer. పాటుపడజేయు, విస్తరింపజేయు, చేయు, పోవు, పరుగెత్తు. పరుగెత్తిమచు. ప్రవహించు, గడుచు, అనుభవింపజేయు 'కొట్టితేని యముడు గొట్టుపరుచు.' Vēma. 1341. 'వినతకు మ్రొక్కి వీడ్కొని గరుడుండు నతిత్వరీతగతింబరచి.' M. I. ii. 68. 'నీపేరెరిగియును దుపనొల్లక పరుతురధోగతుల౛ాడ పద్మదళాక్ష.' B. X. 93. 'చెట్టొకడుగాగ బరచిరి చెంచులుపుడు.' Swa. iv. 143. 'నిండిపరచుదరచు సెలయేరుల.' Swa. iv. 91. It is used with nouns, adjectives, verbs, and postpositions to form verbs with a causal signification. ఆటంకపరచు to prevent. భేదపరుచు to distinguish, to effect a distinction. to separate. సమ్మతిపరుచు to persuade, to convince or to make one agree. దృఢపరుచు to make firm to establish. తెలియబరుచు to make known. తేటబరుచు to make clear. లోబరుచుకొను to subdue, to bring under one's control. దిట్టపరుచు to prepare, to make ready. వారిని లోబరుచుకొన్నాడు he has got them into his hands. దాన్ని ఫలపరిచినాడు he brought it into use. పరత, పరతి or పరద parata. n. A stream, current, ప్రవాహము, వరద. వరతెంచు para-tenṭsu. [పరచు+తెంచు.] v. n. To come running. పారివచ్చు.

(p. 899) berāna or బిరాన berāna. [Tel.] adv. At once, hurriedly. త్వరగా, వడిగా. 'అదివిని శౌరిరాధకరమల్లనబట్టి బిరానచేసరాల్.' Ila. i. 195. 'అడియన్ అనికొత్తమసాని మ్రొక్కగా కొంగుబిరానపట్టి.' Chatu. 310.

(p. 1021) meṭṭu meṭṭu. [Tel.] v. a. &n. To step, walk, tread. అడుగుపెట్టు, నడుచు, త్రొక్కు. 'మెల్ల మెల్లన మెట్టుచుదొలగి అల్లనల్లనతలుపులండకు జేరి.' BD iv. 1523. To tread on, to trample on. To kick, to thrust with the foot. To wear, as sandals. తొక్కు, కాలితోతన్ను, పాదుకలు వేసికొను. 'ఏయేతీర్థములందు గ్రుంకిడితి రేయేద్వీపముల్ మెట్టినారు.' Swa. i. 26. 'నీళ్లమునుగనేల జలధిమెట్టగనేల మొనసివేల్పులకును మ్రొక్కనేల.' Vēma. iii. 259. n. Treading, త్రొక్కుట. A step of a ladder or stair, సోపానము. A step, grade, degree, rank. A mount a hill, తిప్ప, కొండ. Curds mixed with water, as పులిమెట్టు sour curds, పుల్లనిమజ్జిగ. మెట్టు a shoe, slipper. పాదరక్ష. plu. మెట్లు. sandals, పావకోళ్లు. మెట్టించు meṭṭinṭsu. v. n. To lead to make one walk, to cause to be trampled. To suggest, to stir the mind. నడిపించు, తొక్కించు. To kill, చంపు. 'మింటన్ మ్రోసినమ్రోత తాలిమిని లో మెట్టింపమున్నీపునా యింటన్ బుట్టెదవంచుకంసుడుతొడిన్ హింసించె నీయన్నలన్.' B. X. 102. మెట్టిక meṭṭika. n. A step , మెట్టు, సోపానము. See also మెటిక. మెట్టిమల్లాడు meṭṭi-mall-āḍu. v. a. To trample down or all over, to ruin, హతముచేయు, ధ్వంసముచేయు. 'కర్మంబుల కట్టడలకులోనుగాక మాయలనుమెట్టి మల్లాడి నిర్మలలింగసేవ నెట్టిభక్తిఘటించు.' L. xvi. 229. మెట్టుకు meṭṭu-ku. adv. On the whole, altogether. In fact, in all, at the most, at least, at any rate. In short, at the best or worst, once for all, finally, at last, in the end, after all, withal, yet still. తుదకు. మెట్టుకుపోయినాడు of course he is gone. మెట్టిల్లు (మెట్టిన + ఇల్లు) the mother-in-law's house, ఆడుదాని అత్తగారిల్లు. మెట్టుబ్రాలు sacred rice, తలబ్రాలు.

(p. 1136) vala vala. [Tel. for వలను.] adj. Right, కుడి. వలచేయి or వలకేలు the right hand. 'అరుదుగావలచేతనక్షమాలికయు.' DR. Aran. 268. 'వలకేల్దలక్రింద జేర్చుకొని.' P. i. 256. వలకట్టు vala-kaṭṭu. (వలను+కట్టు.). a. To make a thing convenient, అనుకూలపరుచు వలకడ valakaḍa. (వలను+కడ.) n. The South side. దిక్షిణపుదిక్కు. వలగొను (వలను+కొను), వలచుట్టు (వలను+చుట్టు) or వలదిరుగు vala-gonu. v. n. To walk round, circumambulate. ప్రదక్షిణముచేయు, చుట్టుకొను. 'వదాన్యమహీరుహసార్వభౌమునిన్ వలగొని మ్రొక్కి.' Parij. v. 88. వలచుట్టు vala-ṭsuṭṭu. n. The act of walking round anything. వలగొనుట.

(p. 1291) satti satti. [from Skt. శక్తి.] n. Power, ability, energy, strength, force, vigour. శక్తి, బలము, బలిమి. A goddess, కాళికాదేవి, పార్వతి. 'బలిమిదార్కొని కల భాషివేనలి యొకకేల బట్టివేరొక్కకేల, నొరగత్తిబెరికినీ కొప్పనమీదె యంచు సత్తికిగత్తిచెయ్యెత్తిమ్రొక్కి.' KP. iii. 131. ఇక్కడ సత్తి అనగా దేవత. The name of Vasishtha's son, వసిష్ఠుని కొడుకు. A kind of weapon. సత్తితాలుపు satti-tālupu. n. An epithet of Kumāraswami, శక్తిధరుడు.

(p. 1306) saragu saragu. [from Skt. ప్రాక్.] n. Swiftness, speed. త్వర. సరగ or సరగున saraga. adv. Rapidly, soon, at once, quickly, with speed. శీఘ్రముగా, తెప్పున. 'సాగిమ్రొక్కి లేచిసరగున నొసలిపైకేలు దమ్మోతోయికీలుగొలిపి.' B. X. iii. 12.

(p. 1320) sāgu or చాగు sāgu. [Tel.] v. n. To go on, proceed, get on, advance, continue, be current, be usual. To lengthen, to extend, as hot iron under the hammer. To take effect. To begin, నడుచు, జరుగు, దీర్ఘమగు, నిడుపగు, ఆరంభించు. n. A spit or iron lance, a short arrow thrown from the hand, అడుగున త్రాడుకట్టినకటారి, అలుగు వంటి ఆయుధవిశేషము. Cultivation, tillage. కృషి, వ్యవసాయము. దండుసాగుచుండగా when the army was marching. పని సాగలేదు the business does not go on or proceed. అతని మాట సాగలేదు his word did not take effect. కమ్మిపాగలేదు the wire could not be drawn out or lengthened. ఆ ఉత్సవము సాగుచున్నదా is the feast still kept up? దానికోరిక కొనసాగినది her wish is fulfilled. చెప్పసాగినది she went on to say. ఇది లేకుండా నాకు సాగదు I cannot get on without this. అక్కడ సాగకవస్తిని as I could not subsist there I came away. సాగుపాటు sāgu-pāṭu. n. Means of getting on, livelihood. జరుగుపాటు. సాగుబడి sāgu-baḍi. n. Cultivation. వ్యవసాయము. plu. సాగుబళ్లు. సాగగొట్టు sāga-goṭṭu. v. a. To hammer, out, extend or draw out (by heating a rod of iron, gold, etc.) పొడుగగునట్లుగా కొట్టు, సాగదీయు sāga-dīyu. v. a. To extend, stretch out, draw out, lengthen, పొడుగగునట్టుగా లాగు. To importune, మిక్కిలి ప్రార్థించు, బతిమాలుకొను. వాణ్ని ఎంత సాగదీసినా పోనన్నాడు however much I urged him he said he would not go. సాగనంపు sāga-n-ampu. v. a. To send away, to send one on, to set a traveller on his way, to convey or accompany one for a little distance. జపించు. సాగబడు or సాగిలబడు sāga-baḍu. v. n. To fall down at full length, flat or prostrate. సాష్టాంగపడు. 'సాగబడి మ్రొక్కిన శౌరికృ పార్ద్రచిత్తుడై.' Parij. v. 48. సాగించు sāginṭsu. v. a. To conduct, carry on (a business.) To celebrate (a feast.) జరుపు. కీళ్లుసాగించినారు they performed the swinging feast.

(p. 1329) sāṣṭāṅgamu s-āshṭ-āngamu. [Skt.] n. Prostrate adoration. Literally, touching the ground with (ప) the eight (అష్ట) limbs (అంగ), i.e., the hands, knees, shoulders, breast and forehead. సాగిలబడి దండము పెట్టడము. సాష్టాంగదండ ప్రణామముచేయు to do homage. సష్టాంగదండము or సాష్టాంగ నమస్కారము prostrate homage. 'కరయుగములు చరణంబులు, నురములలాటస్థంబు నున్నతభుజముల్. సరిధరణిమోపిమ్రొక్కిన, బరువడిసాష్టాంగమండ్రు పరమమునీంద్రుల్. '
