(p. 501) tagu tagu. [Tel.] v. n. To be fit, or proper, to suit or agree, suffice. యుక్తమగు. p|| తగిన or తగ్గ, fit, proper, moderate. Neg. p|| తగని unfit, unsuitable, immoderate, vast, horrid. It is often used impersonally: Thus అట్లు చేయదగునా is it fit to do so? పోదగదు it is not right to go. తెలిసికొనదగును it is possible to discover it 'తపసులుపురమునతగదువర్తింప.' DRK. 204. తగుమాత్రమైన sufficient, some. తగుమాత్రముగా moderately, well, amply. తగుమాత్రముగొప్ప pretty large. Here తగు is used as a p|| instead of తగిన. తగిన tagina (Rel. p|| of తగు.) adj. Fitting, proper, due, right, likely, probable, pretty. తగినమాత్రము pretty well. తగినట్టుగా tagi-n-aṭṭu-gā. adv. Fitly, properly.

(p. 712) paragu paragu. [Tel.] v. n. To be, exist, remain. చెలగు, ఉండు. To be used, to be applied. ప్రయుక్తమగు. To apply, to be applicable, ప్రవర్తిల్లు. To spread, ప్రసరించు. (p. 821) pōlu pōlu. [Tel.] v. n. To be fit or agreeable. ఒప్పు, తగియుండు. To be proper, యుక్తమగు. To be possible, శక్యమగు. This word is added to infinitives. చేయబోలునె can it be done? The neg. is పోలదు; thus, అట్లా చేయపోలదు or తగదు it is not proper to do so. ఉండబోలును perhaps they are there, ఉన్నవేమో. 'తెగువయదేవేంద్రపదవియనదగు బుద్ధిజనింపబోలుతరుణీనీకున్.' H. i. 140. v. a. To resemble, to be like, సరిపోలు. n. Resemblance, similarity, సామ్యము. పోలుపొందులేకుండా మాట్లాడు or తలా తోకలేకుండా మాట్లాడు to talk without rhyme or reason. పోలె pōle. adv. Like. రామునిపోలె like Rama. పోలమి pōl-ami. n. Dissimilarity, unlikeness. పోలించు, పోలుచు or పోల్చు pōlinṭsu. v. a. To compare, or liken. పోలజేయు. పోలిక, పోలికి or పోల్కి pōlika. n. Resemblance, likeness.

(p. 1139) valayu valayu. [Tel.] v. n. To be liked, desired or wanted. ఇష్టమగు, విహితమగు. To be needful, or necessary, ఆవశ్యకమగు. To be proper, యుక్తమగు. To be surrounded, వలయతమగు. 'మృగమువలయంబారెన్.' పంచ. నా. ii. 'స్వబుద్ధిరాజుకు విశేషింపవలయు' (P. i. 391.) the use of his own judgment is much needed in a king. 'కయ్యమునకు నెయ్యమునకు వియ్యమునకు సమతవలయు.' (ib. ii. 47.) in combat, in inter-marriage, and in friendship equality is wanted; or, there should be a similarity. 'ఔగాములరయవలయు.' (ib. iv. 431.) you should look to the chances of gain or loss, of success or failure. వలె, వలెను, వలసినది or వలయును are added as auxiliaries, to the Root in the Infinitive of any verb; to give the idea of obligation or necessity; నేను ఇమటికి పోవలెను I must go home. నీవు ఇక్కడికి రావలెను you must come here, you should come here, I hope you will come here. తమదయ రావలెను మా దరిద్రము తీరవలెను I hope your favour will come and that my poverty will be removed. ఆయన రేపో ఎల్లుండో రావలెను he must be here tomorrow or the next day, i.e., we expect him here tomorrow or the next day. వాడు దానితమ్ముడుగా ఉండవలెను I suppose he must be her brother. నాకు ఆ పుస్తకము కావలెను I want that book. వాణ్ని చంపియుండవలెను they must have killed him. నీకు అట్లురావలెను this serves you right. నీవు సందేహింపవలసినదిలేదు you need not doubt it, there is no occasion to doubt it. వాణ్ని పిలువవలెనని అక్కడికి వెళ్లితిని I went there to call him. ఈ పని చేయవలెనని పోవుచుండగా as I was going there to do this. జగడమాడవలెనని వస్తివా did you come on purpose (or wanting) to quarrel? వలసి (the past p|| of వలయు.) ఇవ్వవలసి యిస్తిని I paid it, because I had to. 'నిశాచరునుద్యోగంబుచూచుకొనవలసి.' Swa. iv. 163. అట్లు చేయవలసివచ్చును it will become necessary to do so. వలసిన (past part of వలయు) is used as an affix (similar to the Latin-ibilis or endus). చెల్లింపవలసిన సొమ్ము money due, the sum payable. 'వ;సినసంపదల్ గలుగవా.' T. ii. 34. టీ వలసిన, కావలసినటువంటి. వలసె or వలసెను (the past tense of వలయు) it became necessary, or requisite. వానితో చెప్పవలసె I was obliged to tell him. 'వినిపింపరాని కార్యము వినిపింపగవలసె.' Swa. iv. 176. The negative aorist of this, వలవదు, వలదు, See under వలదు.

See also సరియ. ఆ వంశము ఇతనతో సరి that family terminates with him. సరిలేని మాణిక్యము a matchless gem. పెలసరికి at the end of the month. నెలసరికి up to that day. నీకు నాకు సరి there is an end of everything between us. సరికాని వారు those who are not equals. 'సరికాని వారితో సరసమాడెడువాని.' (Kālahas. §. 66.) he who takes liberties with such as are not his equals. సరికానిపని improper behaviour or conduct. సరికిసరి tit for tat. గోధుములు బియ్యానికి గోధుములు బియ్యానికి సరికిసరి ఇస్తారు they barter wheat for an equal quantity of rice.సరికిసరి చేసినాడు he repaid them according to what they had done. సరి. adj. Equal, like. సమము, ఈడైన. Just, right, proper, fit, correct, suitable, యుక్తమైన, తగిన, Corresponding to. Even, level, not odd, మిట్టపల్లములులేని. Ended, finished, సమాప్తము. అతనికి సరిలేడు he has no equal. రాత్రి అయినా సరే పగలు అయినా సరే be it day or be it night. ఇది సరికాదు this is not right. ఈ ఉత్సవము నేటితో సరి this feast is finished with this day. adv. Equally. సమానముగా, సరిగా. Fully, పూర్ణముగా. 'జలధి తోజలధియు సరిబోరుకరణి.' DRY. 2224. 'సరిబల్కుమని యదల్చు.' T. iii. 143. సరి (interj.) Well! Yes! very well! very good! Aha! Aha! Oh! బాగాయె; అంగీకారార్థము. సరికట్టు sari-kaṭṭu. v. n. To be equal or similar. దృష్టాంమగు. v. a. To attempt, యత్నించు. See సరిపడు below. సరికడచు sari-kaḍaṭsu. v. n. To exceed, excel. ముందుమించు, మీరు, అతిక్రమించు. సరిగా sari-gā. adv. T. iv. 62. సరిచేయు ari-chēyu. v. a. To arrange or put in order, to put straight, to level or make even. To complete, end or finish. To equalize, క్రమపరచు, వంకర లేకుండా చేయు, మిట్టపల్లములు లేకుండా చేయు, ముగించు, సమానము చేయు. To ruin, నాశముచేయు, సరిచూచు sari-ṭsūṭsu. v. a. To compare, review, collate. సంప్రతించు, సరిగానుండజూచు. సరితూగు sari-tūgu. v. a. To counterbalance, to be equal in weight, to be equal. సమానమగు. సరిపడు, సరితాకు or సరికట్టు sari-paḍu. v. n. Equal, like; just, right, proper, fit. Corresponding to. Level, straight; even, not odd. సమమైన, యుక్తమైన, తగిన, నూటియైన, ఈడైన, అవిషయమైన, మిట్టపల్లములు లేని. సరిలేని sari-lēni. adj. Matchless, unequalled. అసమానమైన. సరివచ్చు sari-vatstsu. v. n. To match, be alike, సమానమగు. సరిసమానము sari-samānamu. (a pleonasm.) n.
