(p. 21) akṣaramu aksharamu. [Skt. lit Eternal. imperishable.] n. A letter, a single syllable, a character of the alphabet, hand writing. A single syllable, whether of one letter or more. Thus the word సంస్కృతం Sam-skru-tam is termed a word of three letters. ఏకాక్షరము a monosyllable. సంయుక్తాక్షరము two or more letters united in one syllable, as స్త్రీ wherein four letters are united. త్య్రక్షరి try-ak-shari; the sacred or mystic syllable (ఓం AUM, or O'M a name of the Deity) that contains three letters. అక్షరజ్ఞుడు a man of letters. అక్షరాభ్యాసము beginning to learn the alphabet or the first principles of a language; మంత్రాక్షరము a cypher of syllable used in magic. ఇది ఆయన అక్షరము కాదు this is not his handwriting. నీవద్ద అప్పుగా తీసుకొన్న రూ 300 అక్షరాల మున్నూరు రూపాయీలు i.e., 'Rs. 300 (three hundred Rupees.)' here the same sum is denoted in writing as well as in figures. వాడు నిరక్షరకుక్షి he is an illiterate man. వానికి నోట్లో అక్షరాలు లేచియున్నవి his mouth is inflammed. అక్షరవిన్యాసము, the array of letters, writing.

(p. 28) accāḷi or అచ్చాళు aṭṭsāḷi. (K) One who lives a single life, an unmarried person. ఒంటిమనిషి, ఏకాంగిగా మండేవాడు, సంసారపు పీకులాటలేనివాడు అచ్చాళుగానుండు or అచ్చాళిగానుండు to be alone, to be quiet, free from perturbation. The fourteenth day of the moon's age, on which she rises one digit less than full. సమ్మతి, అనుజ్ఞ. న్యూనేందుకళాపూర్ణిమ, చతుర్ధశీ యుక్తపూర్ణిమ తండ్రి అనుమతిని కొమారుడు రంగయ్య వ్రాలు signed by Rangayya with the consent of his father అనుమతించు v. n. To consent.

(p. 57) anumānamu anu-mānamu. [Skt.] n, Surmise, conjecture, suspicion, doubt. In logic, inference. సందేహము, యుక్తి చేత నిర్ణయించడము. వాని మీద అనుమానము తోచినది, వాని మీద అనుమానమున్నది I suspect him. అనుమానఖండము Induction (logic.) అనుమానించు or అనుమానపడు anu-māninṭsu. T. i. 50 అనువు కాని వేళ in an inconvenient hour. అనువరి n. A man of tact, ఉపాయశాలి, యుక్తిపరుడు. అనువు adj. Proper, right, fit, suitable, convenient. ఉచితమైన, యుక్తమైన, యోగ్యమైన. అనువుగా adv. Conveniently, suitably, fitly, with propriety. అనువు చేయు v. t. To make ready or fit. సిద్ధపరుచు. అనువుపడు v. n. To be suitable or agreeable, or convenient. అనుకూలపడు. అనువెండ or అనువుందగ adv. Duly, well. ఒప్పుగా, 'ఈ కథ వినియోదనను వొందదెల్పు విహగోత్తంసా.' H. i. 233.

(p. 58) anūpamu anūpamu. [Skt.] adj. Wet, watery, inundated. జలయుక్తమైన, జలమయమైన. అనూపము n. A fen or marsh. చిత్తడి నేల. అనూపదేశము a marshy country.

(p. 61) anvitamu anvitamu. [Skt.] adj. Connected, యుక్తమైన, చేరిన, మిళితమైన. ఈ వాక్యము అనన్వితముగానున్నది this is a broken phrase. అన్వితుడు n. He who possesses a thing. సకలసుగుణాన్వితుడు he who is possessed of all virtues.

(p. 77) ayuktamu a-yuktamu. [Skt.] adj. Improper, inconsistent, unfit, bad. తగని.

(p. 101) asamañjasamu a-samanjasamu. [Skt.] adj. Bad, inconsistent. బాగుకాని, అసంగతమైన, అనుఫయుక్తమైన.
