Heat, sunshine, glare, radiance, ఎండయెక్కినది the sun is high. చిరుఎండ the soft heat of the morning or evening; రేయెండ moonshine. వాడు వచ్చినప్పుడు నిండా యెండయెక్కినది it was late in the day when he arrived. ఎండకాచునప్పుడు when it is hot. నీకు ఎండ తగిలినది, or, నీ ముఖమునకు ఎండతగిలినది you look hot or fatigued, ఎండకన్నెరుగనివాడు one whose 'eye knows not the sunbeam,' i.e., who lives in the shade. ఎండకాలము eṇḍa-kālamu. n. The hot weather. ఎండగట్టు eṇḍa-gaṭṭu. v. t. To tie up (as a cloth) in the sun to dry. ఎండిపోవు. ఎండదెబ్బ eṇḍa-gāli. n. A burning wind. ఎండగోట్టు eṇḍa-goṭṭu. v. i. To dry up or wither ఎండిసోవు. ఎండదెబ్బ eṇḍa-debba. n. A stroke of the sun. ఎండదొర or ఎండరేడు eṇḍa-dora. n. The sun. ఎండపొద్దు eṇḍa-poddu. n. Noon. ఎండమావి eṇḍa-māvi. n. The mirage మృగతృష్ణ. ఎండబెట్టు eṇḍa-beṭṭu. v. t. To put out to dry. ఎదురెండ the sun against the face.

(p. 181) ekku ekku. [Tel.] v. a. & n. To rise, increase, swell. To appear (by its effects as wine, water, poison, or medicine.) To affect the mind. To prevail as a report; to come to notice వాని తలకు మదము ఎక్కినది he is beside himself with pride or lust. వానికి మత్తెక్కినది he is intoxicated. వడ్డియెక్కినది interest has accrued. ఎక్కినవడ్డి the interest that accrued. వాని దుష్టగుణములు నీకు ఎక్కినవి you have caught his bad habits, or, followed his example. వార్తకెక్కు to become the theme or topic of discourse. వన్నెకెక్కినాడు he became celebrated, rose to distinction. వాసికెక్కిన celebrated, honoured. ఎన్నికకెక్కినాడు one who has risen to reputation. పది గంటలపొద్దు ఎక్కిన వేళ when it was ten o'clock, lit. when the sun has mounted (to) ten hours. ఆ పనికి ఎవరును ఎక్కలేదు no one came forward, or volunteered for the business. అతని మాట యెక్కదు his word will not do, or avail. తలకు నీళ్లెక్కి ౛లుబుగానున్నది the water has got into the head and I have a cold. To mount on, get upon. మంచమెక్కు to take to one's bed. ఎక్కుకొను ekku-konu. v. a. To mount on ఆరోహించు.

Pride. గర్వము. పురులొడ్డి (peacocks) having spread their tails. పురిపులుగు or పురిపిట్ట a peacock, నెమలి. పురియెక్కిన, పురెక్కిన twisted, refreshed, strengthened. 'నెమ్మినర్తించు బురివిచ్చినెమ్మిగములు.' R. vi. 9. పురుకొను puri-konu. v. n. To be refreshed, to regain strength or spirits. To come to mind, to prick the heart. To cover, surround కవియు, క్రమ్ము. 'క ఉభయబలంబులు పురికొని, యిభతురగస్యందనములు నిలబ్రోవులుగా, రభసాశ్చర్యాత్మకులై, నభశ్చరులు పొగడనీసునం బోరాడెన్.' M. VII. iii. 133.

(p. 771) purikolupu puri-kolupu. v. a. To spur on, move, instigate, incite, stir up, rally. మొనయు, ప్రేరేపించు, ఎచ్చరించు, నూలుకొలుపు, పుల్లలుపెట్టు. పురికొస puri-kosa. n. A large poisonous spider or tarantula. Also, a rough kind of twine. పురిగట్టిన puri-gaṭṭina. part. Strong, vigorous. పురిపెట్టు puri-peṭṭu. v. a. To twine or twist. పురియెక్కించు puri-y-ekkinṭsu. v. a. To incite. పురివిచ్చు puri-vitsṭsu. v. a. To untwist or unravel a thread. v. n. Sharp, hot, తీక్ష్ణము. మిడిమాధ్యాహ్నము midday, noon. మిడిముళ్లు spurs. మిడికించు miḍi-kinṭsu. v. n. To blink (the eyes), మిణకరించు. 'కమలుమిడికించునుగుడ్లగూబరీతి.' Pragmatic, hot headed, haughty. తలకొట్లమారియైన. తలకొవ్విన. 'అడిగినజీతంబియ్యని మిడిమేలపుదొరనుగొలిచి మిడుకుటకంటెన్. వడిగలయెద్దులగట్టుక మడిదున్నుక బ్రతుకవచ్చు మహిలోసుమతీ.' Sumati Satakam. మిడిమేలము miḍi-mēlamu. n. Insolence, haughtiness, మిడసిపాటు. 'మగువలుమగలని యెరుగడు, మృగములకోరసిలడేమి మిడిమేలమితండగపడుననితలచితిమే.' R. ii. 112. మిడియ miḍiya. n. A word of the Veda, వేద వాక్యము. 'క తలచియపుడందొకింతయు దొలుతటితరవాతి మిడియదోచకమరియె వ్వలనరసినశ్రుతిశబ్దము పలకునకున్ రాక పెగడుపరచినగలకన్.' పర. ii. మిడియు miḍiyu. v. n. To flash or fly off as a chip of wood or a drop of water. ఎగురు. ఆ రాతిచెక్క మిడిసిపడినది the chip of the stone leaped out and fell down. మిడివిల్లు miḍi-villu. n. A pellet bow, ఉండవిల్లు. 'తడియుచుకైతవతరుణియెక్కిన మిడివింటిగతినున్న మెలతలుడాసి.' Dab. 170. మిడిసిపడు miḍisi-paḍu. v. n. To bounce, leap; to be insolent, మిట్టిపడు, త్రుళ్లిపడు. మిడిసిపడి చచ్చినాడు he suddenly fell down dead. మిడిసిపాటు miḍisi-pāṭu. n. Bouncing, exultation, pride, త్రుళ్లుట.
