(p. 774) pulu or పుల్లు pulu. [Tel. cf. Tam. పుల్.] n. Grass. కసవు. Also, foulness in gems, రత్నాదులమాలిన్యము. పుల్ గృహము a grass house. A. iv. 167. కనకవులు golden grass. adj. Little, mean. పులుమానిసి a little or low man. పులుమ్రాను pulu-mrānu. n. A tree which belongs to the family of the Palms. తాటిచెట్టు మొదలైన తృణద్రుమము. పులుకాసిపురుగు pulu-kāsi-purugu. n. An insect with green wings, పచ్చరెక్కపురుగు. A low person, అల్పుడు. హరిశ్చ. ii. పులుకాసిపులుగు pulu-kāsi-pulugu. n. A parrot. (p. 775) pullu or పులు pullu. [Tel.] n. Grass: foulness in precious stones. గడ్డి, రత్నాదుల మాలిన్యము. adj. Little, small, అల్పము. పుల్లంటురాయి pull-anṭu-rayi. n. A sapphire, ఇంద్రనీలము. పుల్లిరుసు or పులిరుసు pull-irusu. n. The little wheel over which the bottom rope of a water-lift (కపిల) runs to upset the bucket when it reaches the top. పుల్లుడి pull-uḍi. (పుల్లు+ఉడి.) n. Poor land, land productive only at intervals. ఒకానొక సంవత్సరము సెద్యానకు పనికివచ్చునేల. పుల్లరి pull-arti. (పుల్లు+అరి.) n. Tax, a tax on pasture lands. Also, a tax levied on a fishery, or a head-tax on cattle. పుల్లురుకుపాము pull-uruka-pamu. n. A sort of snake which springs out of grass.

(p. 1025) merika or మెరికె merika. [Tel.] n. Grits, that which remains in the sieve after sifting; the finest and hardest particles which resist the pestle. మెదగకనిలిచిన ధాన్యము. మెరికబియ్యము the rice which in pounding resists the pestle, పొట్ట వీడీవీడనిబియ్యము. మెరికలవంటివాడు a man of grit, a choice favoirite. మెరికలవంటిమాటలు choice phrases. ఈ గ్రంథము రత్నాలమెరికలు this book is a perfect gem, a galaxy of beauties. మెరియడు meriyaḍu. n. A steady man, చలింపనివాడు మెరియత meriyata. n. A steady woman, చలింపనిది. A victress, heroine, she who escapes with impunity. 'క నీవిచ్చోమెరియతవై, కావర మునవలసినట్లుగయ్యాళింపన్, గావెరచిపేదమొరగా, నేవీరినివారిదగిలి యేలవచింతున్.' K. iii. 243.

(p. 1064) ratanamu ratanamu. [from Skt. రత్నము.] n. A gem, రత్నము. రతనపుగని ratanapu-yani. n. The Ocean, సముద్రము, రత్నాకరము. రతనపువిల్లు ratanapu-villu. n. A rainbow, ఇంద్రధనుస్సు.

(p. 1064) ratnamu ratnamu. [Skt.] n. A jewel, precious stone, gem. మణి. A masterpiece of fine thing, the best of its kind of species స్వజాతి శ్రేష్ఠము, నవరత్నములు the nine precious stones, viz., మౌక్తికము a pearl, పద్మరాగము an emerald, వజ్రము a diamond. ప్రవాళము a coral, మరకతము. an emerald నీలము a sapphire, గోమేధికము an agate. పుష్యరాగము a ruby, వైడూర్యము a cat's eye. అశ్వరత్నము a jewel of a horse, i.e., a noble stead. స్త్రీరత్నము an unrivalled woman. గగనరత్నము the sun, as the gem of heaven. అప్సరోరత్నములు the most lovely of nymphs. రత్నకంబళము ratna-kamba-lamu. n. A carpet. తివాసీ. రత్నగర్భ .ratna-garbha n. The earth; as producing gems. భూమి. 'వైశ్యకన్యకల్ గీరనగింజలాడుతరి క్రిందనునిచిన దివ్యరత్నముల్ పౌరులు ద్రొక్కుచున్ జనగపాతుకొనంధరణీ పురంధ్రికిన్వారకరత్నగర్భయను నామము బెట్టిరి సత్కవీశ్వరుల్.' T. ii. 20. రత్నగర్భుడు ratna-garbhuḍu. n. Kubēra, the god of wealth, కుబేరుడు. The god of the sea, సముద్రుడు. రత్నసానువు ratna-sānuvu. n. An epithet of Mount Meru as having ' gems in its slopes.' మేరుపర్వతము, హేమాద్రి. రత్నాకరము ratn-ākaramu. n. The abode of gems, that is, the ocean. సముద్రము. రత్నావళి ratnā-vaḷi. n. A beau, a handsome man. శృంగారవంతుడు, సొగసుకాడు. వన్నెచీర vanne-chīra. n. A coloured cloth, రంగుబట్ట. వన్నెపులుగు or వన్నెలపులుగు vanne-pulugu. n. Lit: The painted bird. i.e., a pheasant, జీవంజీవము.
