(p. 31) aṭṭa aṭṭa. [Tel.] n. The sole of a shoe or slipper; hide; leather. Card, pasteboard. A headless trunk. A part or division. చర్మము, మొండెము, భాగము. ఒంటట్ట చెప్పులు shoes with a single leather for a sole. చెమటట్ట a piece of leather put inside a shoe. అట్టపొట్టగా నుండేవాడు a stout pot-bellied man. అట్టలెత్తిన పాత్రమెట్టులు. A. vi. 103. 'అత్తెరంగునందు నిమియతం డయ్యట్టయుదలయును ధరణీతలగతంబుచేసె.' M. VII. v. 398. 'ఆ రాజులలో పరస్పర వైరంబు బుట్టించిన ఆ దండు రెండట్టలై.' G. vi. 92.

(p. 66) appuḍu appuḍu. [Tel. from ఆ+పొద్దు] adv. Then, at that time (This is also used as a defective noun.) Dative అప్పటికి at that time, అప్పట్లో (locative) at that time. అప్పటినుంచి since that time. అట్లా చెప్పేటప్పటికి when he said so. మరియొకప్పుడు at another time. In compounds it means 'When', as వాడు వచ్చినప్పుడు when he came. ఒకప్పుడు వచ్చెను ఒకప్పుడు రాకపోయెను he sometimes came and sometimes stayed away. అప్పుడే (emphatic form) just then, already. అప్పుడే పుట్టిటనబిడ్డ a child just born. అప్పుడప్పుడు now and then. అప్పటిరాజులు the rulers of those days, the then princes.

(p. 80) ari ari. [Tel.] Affix denoting possession. నేర్పు skill, నేర్పరి skilful, సిగ్గు shame, సిగ్గరి timid. అరి ari. [Tel.] n. A bowstring. Tax, tribute. వింటినారి, ప్రజలవద్ద రాజులు మర్యాదకు పుచ్చుకొనేపాలు. అరివెట్టు to pay revenue. ఆరిగోరులు the share both of the government and of the inhabitants, i.e., the total produce. పుల్లరి tax on grazing lands. 'అరులుమిగుల గొనిరాజులు, నరులకు నెంతయును భయమొనర్తురు.' M. III. v. 302.

(p. 80) ariga or అరిగె ariga. [Tel.] n. A large disk, like a shield, held in processions as a royal ensign. డాలువలె బ్రహ్మాండముగా నుండేటిది, దీన్ని రాజులయెదుట పట్టుకొనెదరు. 'తేరులుకలముల తెరుగునదిరుగగా గరులుమైననాగా దిగిరులబ్రోల, నరిగెబిళ్లలుకమాలకృతి మెరయుగా నడిదంబులను మీలననుకరింప.' G. i. 22.

(p. 105) ahi ahi. [Skt.] n. A snake or serpent. సర్పము, పాము. అహితుండికుడు ahi-tuṇ-ḍikuḍu. n. A snake catcher. పాములవాడు. అహిపతి ahi-pati. n. The lord of snakes, ఆదిశేషువు. అహిభుక్కు ahi-bhukku. [Skt. lit. the serpent-eater.] n. The Eagle. The peacock. గరుత్మంతుడు, నెమలి. అహిభయము ahi-bhayamu. [Skt.] n. Peculiar, odd, queer, Pretty, curious, Cunning, false, fictitious. కందువమాటలు a quibble: a play upon words. కందువ పద్మము a fairy lily, not a real one. కందువ రాజులు mere pretenders: mock warriors.

(p. 259) kalugu or కల్గు kalugu. [Tel.] v. n. To live exist. To be. ఉండు. To happen, occur. To become అగు. To endure ఓపు. To be born పుట్టు. To meet కూడు. ఒక రాజుకలడు there was a certain king. అతనికి పిల్లలుకలిగి children being born to him. సొమ్ముకలవాడు one who has money. నాకు న్యాయము కలిగినది I got justice. అట్లా అనడముకద్దు (or కలదు) it is usual to say so. పనికలిగి వచ్చిరి they came about some business. వ్రాయగలడు he can write. అట్లా మేము చెల్లించగలవారము కాము we are not liable to pay this money. వీరాదిగాగలరాజులు (RYD. 2060) these and other princes. తెలివిగలవాడు a man of sense. యాభైయేండ్లుగలవాడు aged fifty. To be sore. వానికి కండ్లుకలిగినవి he has sore eyes. v. t. To have, to show కలిగియుండు, కనుపరుచు. 'కరుణగలుగుమ్మ కమలనేత్ర.' (భార. అది. viii.)

(p. 311) kaikānuka or కయికానుక kai-kānuka. [Tel.] n. A present given to a king when one visits him. A nuzzur. రాజులులోనగువారిని చూడబోయినపుడు ఇచ్చే కానుక.

(p. 795) pēda pēda. [Tel.] adj. Poor, indigent, బీద. Timid, పిరికి. Slender, lean, thin, as the waist. కూటికి పేదయైతే కులానికి పేదా if a man happens to be poor, is he to be regarded as contemptible by his felow castemen? పేదసాదలు the poor and wretched. నిరుపేదనడుము a slender waist. చెవిపేదలు those that turn a deaf ear to complaints, మొరలాలకించనివారు. 'ఆవశ్యంబు రాజులు చెవిపేదలని పలికి.' P. i. 534. పేద or పేదవాడు Pēda. n. A poor person. A powerless or weak man, ఆశక్తుడు. A man of low station in life, అనుద్ధతుడు. పేదలు the poor. పేదరాలు pēda-r-ālu. n. An indigent woman. పేదరికము pēdarikamu. n. Pauperism, poverty. దారిద్య్రము. పేదరిమి or పేదర్మి pēdarimi n.
