(p. 137) inumaḍi inu-maḍi. [Tel. ఇను+మడుగు] adj. Double, twofold. రెట్టి, ద్విగుణము. ఇనుమడించు inumaḍinṭsu [Tel.] v. a. To double or redouble. రెట్టించు.

(p. 352) gaḍitamu gaḍitamu. [Tel.] n. Thickness. ముదుగు. A plaited or folded garment. adj. Plaited, folded. ౛మిలి, రెట్ట. Thick, తరుచైన, మదుగైన.

(p. 756) piyyi piyyi. [Tel.] n. Human dung, or the dung of any carnivorous animal, as distinguished from పేడ, రెట్ర, &c. చేపపియ్య cuttle fish bone, used in varnish. పియ్యితిను piyyi-tinu. v. n. To eat dirt: i.e., make a fool of oneself. పియ్యి తినేనాగము the dung-eater, a sort of snake.

(p. 785) peṇḍa or పేడ penḍa. [Tel.] n. Cowdung. గోమయము. The dung of any clean animal. గేదెపేడ, గొర్రెపేడ. The word రెట్ట is used for the dung of fish or birds, as చేపరెట్ట or పక్షిరెట్ట; and లద్దె for the dung of horses or elephants, as గుర్రిపులద్దె or ఏనుగులద్దె.

(p. 1084) reṭṭa reṭṭa. [Tel.] n. The upper part of the arm. భుజము. Filth, the dung of birds or fish or fish, పక్షిమలము. A certain tint of carmine used in painting, వర్ణవిశేషము. వానిరెట్టసడలినది his shoulder is dislocated. కోడిరెట్ట fowl's dung. రెట్ట is also the name of an astronomer whose school is called రెట్టమతము. రెట్టనాడి reṭṭa-nāḍi. adj. Double muscled, strong. బలిష్ఠమైన. రెట్ట నాడిగుర్రము a strong horse. రెట్టి reṭṭi. n. and adj. A double or twofold. ద్విగుణము. మూడురెట్లు threefold. రెట్టించు reṭṭinṭsu. v. a. To double, redouble. repeat. To oppose. ఇనుమడించు, ఎదురాడు. 'సీత్కారంబు రెట్టింప.' N. ix. 365. టీ ఇబ్బడింపగా. 'పవనసామర్థ్యంబు రెట్టించెనె.' Ila. iv. 33. మాటలు రెట్టించినవి it came to high words. రెట్టింపు reṭṭimpu. n. and adj. Twice as much. ఇనుమడి, ఇబ్బడి. Opposing, adverse. రెట్టింపుమాటలు arguing against.

The twist of a cord. దారముపిరి. పురిబిగువు, పురిబిగువునపడుచిక్కు. (In prosody) rhyming syllables. కవిత్వమందయతి, పద్యయతి. plural వళ్లు. వడికాడు vaḍi-kāḍu.n. A quick or brave man. వేగముకలవాడు. శౌర్యవంతుడు. వడిగలతనము courage, bravery, వడిగలవానితనము, శౌర్యము. వడికొలుపు vaḍi-kolupu. v. a. To twist. మెలిపెట్టు, 'మొలకమీసలువడిగొల్పుమురువు నేర్చె.' T. ii. 73. To hasten, to cause to be quick. వేగముకలుగునట్లుచేయు. వడిగొను vaḍi-gonu. v. n. To become twisted, మెలిపడు. To be fast, వేగముకలుగు. వడిగల vaḍi-gala. adj. Quick, brisk, violent, clever, brave, వేగముగల, శూరత్వముగల. వాడు మంచివడి గలవాడు he is very quick or clever. adv. Quickly, freshly, త్వరగా, పురిగొని. 'పడుచులేచుచుడు గచువడిగొంచొదవెడుకినుకల గడుబెట్టిదముగ.' M. V. ii. 348. వడిపడు vaḍi-paḍu. v. n. To be troubled, afflicted, oppressed; to toil. వడివెట్టు or వడివేయు vaḍi-peṭṭu. v. a. To twist. మెలిపెట్టు, నులుము. 'తే గీ అలుకచేనుండబుగ్గలునులిచితిట్టి తొడలువడిపెట్టి కోదండమమరగట్టి రెట్టతెగగట్టి.' H. ii. 180. To trouble, annoy, persecute. బాధపెట్టు. వడిసుడి vaḍi-suḍi. n. A whirlpool. ఆవర్తము.

(p. 1159) vālu or వ్రాలు vālu. [Tel.] v. n. To bend or weigh down. To light or perch. To hang loose; to fall down. కొమ్మ మొదలైనవివంగు, చెట్టుమీదిపక్షిదిగు, కిందికిదిగు, దిగువపడు, వంగు, ౛ారు, ఒరగు. To increase, అతిశయించు. v. a. To transgress, exceed, అతిక్రమించు. వాలినకిన్కమైన in the passion which he felt, వచ్చినకోపముచేత. వాలినకృపను through the grace that descended on thee, వచ్చిన అనుగ్రహమువల్ల. అదివాని పాదములమీదవాలెను she fell at his feet. 'అ రవిరులతేనియలచాలు అతనివాలు.' H. ii. 16. ఇరువాలుదున్నుట అనగా అడ్డము దిడ్డముగా రెండుసారులు దున్నుట. వాలు vālu. adj. Long, sloping, slanting, descending, drooping. దీర్ఘమైన, అదోకపాటుగానుండే. వాలుచూపులు drooping glances. Sharp, వాడిగల. Cruel, క్రూరము. వాలమ్ము or వాలుటమ్ము a sharp arrow. వాటకొంగ valu-konga. n. A stork, వక్కుకొంగ, బకము. వాలుగ or వాలుగా vālu-ga. adv. Slantingly, lengthily, అదోకపాటుగా, నిడుపుగా. వాలుగంటి or వాల్గంటి vālu-ganṭi. n. A bright eyed woman; lit: a long-eyed girl. దీర్ఘములైనకన్నులుగల స్త్రీ, ఆయతాక్షి, విశాలాక్షి. వాలుగడుపు or వాల్గడుపు vālu-gaḍupu. n. A projecting or protuberant belly, బొ౛్జ. వాలుగొమ్ము a canal or sluice. వాలుచు or వాల్చు vāluṭsu. v. a. To bend, incline, slant. కిందికివంచు. To cut off, కోసివేయు. రెప్పవాలుచు to droop the eye-lids, i.e., to close the eyes. రాత్రిఅంతా కన్నులు వాల్చలేదు I did not close my eyes all night. ఆ మంచమును వాల్చినాడు he slanted the couch. 'వాలినకిన్కమైవాలు నీవాడి; వాలువజిహ్వలువాలుతుననిన, జందనగంధులు జలమురెట్టింప.' HD. i. 947. టీ వాలిన, వచ్చిన, కిన్కమై, కోపమువల్ల; వాలు, దీర్ఘమైన; ఈ వాడివాలున, ఈ తీక్ష్ణ ఖడ్గముచేతను; జిగ్వలు, నాలుకలను; ఈ తీక్ష్ణ ఖడ్గముచేతను; జిహ్వలు, నాలుకలను; వాలుతుననిన, కోసివేతుననేటప్పటికి. వాలుచుక్క or వాల్చుక్క vālu-ṭsukka. n. The planet Venus or its regent. శుక్రుడు. 'పొలుపొంద తూర్పున బొడిచెవాల్చుక్క.' Sar. D. 558. వాలుచేప vālu-chēpa. n. A kind of fish called Chirocentius nudius. మత్స్యవిశేషము. వాలుడు vāluḍu. adj. Hanging down. వాలుడుకొమ్మలు branches that hang down. n. A kind of tree. ఎర్రవాలుడు the red kind. వాలుడుచెక్క the bark of this tree used in medicine. వాలుడుతైలము the oil extracted from this bark. 'కోరివాలుడుతైలంబు గ్రోలువారు.' P. i. 725. వాలుపు or వాల్పు valupu. n. Bending down, వాల్చుట. వాలుప్రొద్దు vālu-pṛoddu. n. The morning or evening sun, లేతప్రొద్దు, అపరాహ్ణము, వాలుమగడు vālamagaḍu. n. The hero of the sword, i.e., A brave man. శురుడు. 'క తాలిమియుధృతియుప్రజ్ఞా. శీలతయు పరాత్మగుణవిశేషజ్ఞతయున్, కాలోచితకార్యముగల, వాలుమగండేలు జలధవలయితధరణిన్,' P. iii. 32.

(p. 1223) vēyu vēyu. [Tel.] v. a. To throw, cast, or fling. To discharge a missile weapon, or fire arms. To let drop, దిగవిడుచు. To place, put, put on, as a dress. ఉంచు. దానిని చెంపమీద ఒక దెబ్బ వేసినాడు he gave her a slap on the cheek. ఆ గుడ్డను బల్లమీద వేసినాడు he put the cloth on the table. నాకూటిలో రాయివేసినాడు he threw a stone into my food, i.e., he injured my livelihood. మూతవేయు to put a lid on, shut. తలుపు వేసినాడు he shut the door. రాత్రిఅంతా నేను రెప్పవేయలేదు I did not close my eyes all last night. కోలాటము వేస్తున్నారు they are dancing a Kolatam. గంతులువేయు to leap. బండికట్టు or వేయు to make the carriage ready. పల్లమువేయు or వేయు to make the carriage ready. పల్లమువేయు or జీనికట్టు or వేయు to saddle a horse. ప్రశ్నవేయు to ask a question. గుడిసెవేయు to build a hut. దివిటీలువేయు to light torches. లెక్కవేయు to add up an account. ఆ యావు దూడవేసినది the cow calved. మబ్బువేసినది it is now cloudy. మేతవేయు to give fodder. కూతవేయు to give a cry. 'చయ్యనరెట్టబట్టి పొమ్మని వెనుకకుబడద్రోచి వీపువేసెన్ పెలుచన్.' Vish. ii. 14. పడమటిగాలి వేసేటప్పుడు when the land-wind blows. నాకు భయమువేస్తున్నది I am afraid. కంపువేస్తున్నది it is stinking. As an auxiliary added to some past participles, it denotes completeness of action and may be expressed by 'up, off, on, down, through, away.' కోసివేయు to cut off. మూసివేయు to shut up. తోసివేయు to push a way. తీసివేయు to draw out. పీకివేయు to pluck up or out. కొట్టివేయు to strike down or cut off. వ్రాసివేయు to write off. ఇచ్చివేయు to give away. తినివేయు to eat up. It is also used with an infinitive; as పడవేయు to cast down; పారవేయు to throw away. వేసికొను vēsi-konu. v. a. To put, place, eat, consume. నా సొత్తును వాని నోటిలో వేసికొన్నాడు he devoured my property. ఆ మాతను నోటో వేసుకొచ్చాడు he put the pill in his mouth. టోపి వేసుకొన్నాడు he put on his hat. మిడతవేసుకొని పోయిన పంట corn eaten up by the locusts.

(p. 1361) sōraṇagaṇḍi , సోర్నగండి or సోరణము sōraṇa-gaṅḍi. [Tel.] n. A window, a sky light. గవాక్షము. A. iii. UR. ii. 312. సోరణిదివియలు sōraṇa-diviyalu. n. plu.
