Obsequies, funeral rites. దినవారాలు, కర్మాంతరము. అపరధాన్యములు or అపరాలు or అపరదినుసులు other kinds of grain, miscellaneous grains, all sorts of grain in pods, such as beans, &c. కాయధాన్యములు. One verse says. 'ఉత్తరే పూర్వసస్యాని అపరస్యానిరేవతౌ.' అపరనామము n. A second name. రెండో పేరు. అపర భాగము n. The hind part, వెనుకటి భాగము. అపరమంత్రములు n. Funeral prayers. అపరరాత్రి midnight, the latter half of the night. అపరలోకము another world. అపరవారధి the western ocean. వాడు పూర్వాపరములు చేయించగలడు he is qualified as priest to solemnize both the marriage and funeral rites. అపరాహ్నము or అపరాహ్ణము [Skt. అపర+అహ్నము.] n. (p. 165) uppu uppu. [Tel.] n. Salt. పెట్లుప్పు saltpetre. రాతి ఉప్పు rook salt. వెదురు ఉప్పు a sort of gum (tabasheer. Ainslie 1. 420.) found in the hollows of the bamboo. కప్పురంబు పెట్టి ఉప్పు కొనుట. (A. vi. 75.) To give camphor for salt, that is, what is valuable for what is worthless. ఉప్పుకండ uppu-kaṇḍa. n. Dried flesh, salt meat. ఉప్పుకాయ uppu-kāya. n. Salted fruit, pickle. ఉప్పు కాపడమిచ్చు to foment with heated salt. ఉప్పుకల్లు or ఉప్పురాయి a grain of salt. ఉప్పుచేప uppu-chēpa. n. A salted fish. ఉప్పుటేరు uppu-t-ēru. n. A salt stream. ఉప్పుపర్ర uppu-parra. n. Salt marsh. పర్ర ఊప్వ salt which effloresces on marshy places. బూడిదె ఉప్పు. ఉప్పుమడి uppu-maḍi. n. A salt pen, salt-bed. ఉప్పు మిడత uppu-miḍata. n. A kind of large black cricket. ఉప్పు రేవు uppu-rēvu. n. A place where salt is manufactured: ఉప్పురియు upp-uriyu. v. i. To moulder. ఉప్పురిసిపోయిన mouldering, dilapidated. కప్పురిసిన యిల్లు a house that sweats salt or that is going to decay. ఉప్పు సముద్రము uppu-samudramu. n. The ocean or salt sea.

(p. 319) kona kona. [Tel.] n. The end, extremity, termination, point, tip. చివర. కొనగోళ్లు the tips of the nails. కొనచెవి the tip of the ear: చంటికొన the tip of the breast, the nipple or teat. adj. Last. కొనవాడు the last man. కొనప్రాణముతో నున్నాడు he is at his last gasp. కొనరిక్క a certain constellation: రేవతీనక్షత్రము. కొనమొదలుగా kona-modalu-gā. adv. Throughout, from end to end. కొనమొదలుగాపెట్టు lay them end to end.

(p. 319) kopuru , కొప్పరము or కొప్రము kopuru. [Tel.] n. A shoulder, the scapula or shoulder blade. The hump of an ox. మూపు, భుజిశిరస్సు. కొప్పరించు koppar-inṭsu. n. To grin. ఇగిలించు. (p. 341) kṣētramu kshētramu. [Skt.] n. A field. పంటభూమి. A place, a spot స్థలము. The body శరీరము. A wife భార్య. A sacred spot, a place of pilgrimage పుణ్యభూమి. Starvation పస్తు. (this meaning is peculiar to Telugu.) నిన్న కటికిక్షేత్రముగానుండినాడు he was starving all yesterday. క్షేత్రములు చేయు to starve. క్షేత్రగణితము kshētragaṇamu. n. 'క్షేత్రపాలున కుదికినచీరలారు చాకిరేవులగములయ్యెసకల దిశలు.' A. ii. 55. క్షేత్రాజీవుడు a cultivator దున్ను కొని బ్రతుకువాడు.

(p. 445) cākali or చాకల ṭsākali. [Tel.] adj. Appertaining to the washerman's caste చాకలి or చాకలివాడు a washerman. చాకిత or చాకలిది ṭsākita. n. A female of that caste. చాకలవాని పురుగు ṭsākala-vāni-purugu. n. A snail. చాకలసారెగాడు ṭsākala-sāre-gāḍu. n. The Pied Wagtail, Motacilla maderaspa-tensis. (F.B.I.) చాకి ṭsāki. adj. Of or belonging to the washerman's caste. చాకిరేవు the place by the water side where clothes are washed. చాకిబాన ṭsāki-bāna. n. A washerman's kettle. The name of a bird. A certain romping game.

(p. 539) tummeda tummeda. [Tel.] n. The large black carpenter bee. భ్రమరము. To clusters of these the poets often compare braided tresses. టెంకాయచెట్టు తుమ్మెద a large beetle that bores holes in the cocoanut tree. తుమ్మెదరేవుళ్లు a certain game played by boys.

(p. 555) toṅgali tongali. [Tel.] adj. Slanting, drooping, వాలిన. Flowing, స్రవించిన. తొంగలిరెప్పలు quivering eyelids 'నావుడుతొంగలిరెప్పలక్రేవలనును సిగ్గులంకురింపగ.' Zacc. iv. 167. తొంగలించు or తొంగలిగొను tongalinṭsu. v. n. To gleam, glance, sparkle, flash, shine. ప్రకాశించు To expand or open. వికసించు. To excel, అతిశయించు, విజృంభించు. To increase, వర్ధిల్లు. To come forth, as fruit from the bud, as in మామిడికాయలు దిగుచున్నవి. ఒళ్లు దిగిపోయినది he is reduced by sickness. బుడ్డదిగినమనిషి a man with a rupture. దానికి నీళ్లు దిగవు she cannot swallow. మదముదిగిన యేనగు an elephant not in rut. ఆ పనిలో దిగినాడు he went into that business. 'పదుగురాడుమాట పాటియై ధరజెల్లు,' the words of many people will carry weight. ఈపాటికి వచ్చియుండును by this time he will have arrived. వానిపాటి యోగ్యత నీకు ఉండినను చాలును it will be enough if you are equal to him. ఏపాటి రూకలు how much money? అది ఒక పాటిగానున్నది it is tolerably good. పాటిరేవు a ford in a river. పాటినేల rich soil (see పాడు.) వీడు ఏపాటివాడు what kind of a man is he? సన్నపాటికర్ర a slender stick. తగుపాటి competent, fit, suitable. కొంచెపాటి small. కొంచెపాటివారు base men, low people. అల్పులు నీకు బుద్ధిచెప్పే పాటివాడు ఇక్కడ లేడు there is no one here fit to advise you. ఇది యేపాటిపని what sort of business is this? పాటిపాటిగా little by little, కొద్దికొద్దిగా. పాటిగొను pāṭi-gonu. v. a. To consider as equal, సరిచేయు.
