(p. 904) bondu bondu. [Tel.] n. A skein, a bundle of fibres of thread. A thread, దారము. A tape, నాడా. The string for fastening a jacket, the tie of a boddice. Growing corn dried up, from want of moisture. గింజపట్టనివరి. Flowers woven into a garland, పుష్పసరము. నూలిబొందు or సిగుబొందు a piece of cotton or silk thread, with which the tresses are tied. బొందుకంకి a pithless ear. బొందుచొప్ప or బొందుగడ్డి a blasted crop. 'పుష్పములుకోసి నేర్పుమీర బలుతెరంగులవింతవింతలుగ మాలికలునుబొందులు కందుకంబులు రచించి.' KP. iv. 89. బొందులనగా లావాటిదండలు, తంతుసమూహము. adj. Big, plump, fat-fleshed. పుష్టిగానుండే, లావాటి, ఆబిడ్డయొక్క కాళ్లుచేతులు బొందుగానున్ణవి the child's limbs are plump. వానిది బొందు శరీరము he is plump. 'చాలదళంబుగా పృథుల చంపకకీలనబొల్చు బొందుతో మాలెలనంగ.' A. i. 22. టీ బొందుతోమాలెలనంగ, కట్టుమాలె లోయనగాను. బొందుపోవు bondu-pōvu. v. n. To pine or become pithless, as a ear of corn; to wither, as a crop.

(p. 952) maniṣi manishi. [for Skt. మనుష్యుడు.] n. A man or woman, a person. వానికి రూకలకట్టూ లేదు మనిషికట్టూలేదు he has neither money nor men. మనిషిరాక మాకుకావచ్చును a proverbial expression, meaning, all men are subject to disease. మనిషికి ఒక రూపాయి యిచ్చినాడు he gave each man a rupee. మనిషికొక మాటచెప్పినారు each man gave a different opinion. మనిషికొకమాట చెప్పుతాడు he talks differently to different people. ఒక ఆడుమనిషి a woman. ఆమె లావాటిమనిషి she is a stout person. నీవేమిమనిషివి what a strange man you are! మనిషివా, పశువువా? are you a man or a brute? do you call yourself a man? నా మనిషివి పంపుతాను I will send my man. ఆ దేశపుమనుషులు people of that country.

(p. 1103) lāvu lāvu. [Tel.] n. Bigness, stoutness, corpulence. స్థూలత్వము. Power, strength, సామర్థ్యము, శక్తి. బలము. Greatness, అతిశయము, ఆధిక్యము. Alms, బిచ్చము. లావులు large quill feathers, రెక్క మొదటి పెద్ద యీకెలు. 'వెలవెల బారుమోముల లావులుచలింప గదలె దిక్కులకునై గరుడకులము.' N. ii. 72. 'లలనరో యెందునీవికను లావునకుంజననేల.' Vaij. ii. 125. టీ లావునకుం, బిచ్చమునకు. adj. Stout, స్థూలము. Difficult, impossible, అశక్యము. లావువాడు a stout man. లావుమంది a great many people. లావుపెట్టు to fertilise (land) లావరి lāv-ari. (p. 1208) veḍada or వెడంద veḍada [Tel.] adj. Wide, broad, extensive, large, big. వెడల్పైన, విశాలమైణ, స్థూలమైన, లలావాటి. 'వెడదయై కనుపట్టు వీనియురము.' Swa. ii. 39. 'అన్ని వెడద వాతియమ్ము లద్భుతముగ.' M. IV. v. 151. 'వెడందవాతియమ్ముగ్రక్కు' M. VII. iv. 257. వెడద కన్నులు.' Swa. vi. 114. 'వెడదగం గాళమున కూడుగుడిచిలేచి.' P. iv. 485. వెడదమోముమెకము veḍada-mōmu-mekamu. n. The big-mouthed, i.e., a lion, సింహము. వెడదవాతియమ్ము a broad tipped arrow.

(p. 1331) siṃhamu simhamu. [Skt.] n. A lion. The sign Leo. (In composition,) Eminent, chief, మృగేంద్రము, అయిదవరాసి. శ్రేష్ఠము. సింహము or సింహపుపలక a large piece of timber, లావాటిమాను. కవిసింహము a noble poet. సింహస్వప్నము. (lit. the elephant's dream of his mortal foe the lion.) a killing thought, a dreadful apprehension. సింహలలాటము (corrupted into సింహతలాటము) an ornament in the form of a lion's head, the figure carved on the front of the pole of a Hindu litter. సింహద్వారము simha-dvāramu. n. The portal or front gate of a house, తలవాకిలి. సింహనాదము simha-nādamu. n. A loud cry, a war cry or war whoop. Huzzas. క్ష్వేళ, యుద్ధకాలములో భటులు అరిచే అరుపు, బొబబ్బ. సింహసంహననుడు simha-samhananuḍu. n. Lit. one who kills a lion, i.e., a very handsome person, a man of noble presence or figure. సర్వాంగసుమదరుడు. సింహావలోకనము simh-āva-lōkanamu. n. Lit, a lion's look Retrospection. A trick in versification consisting of making each line begin with the last word of the preceeding one. వెనుకకు మళ్లిమళ్లి చూచుచుపోవడము, పద్యములో ముందుచెప్పిన పదమును మళ్లీయెత్తుచు రావడము. 'ఇదిమనోహర కాంతికింపైన బింబంబు, బింబంబు గాదిది బెగడుకెంపు, కెంపుగాదిది తేటియొంపనిన మంకెన, మంకెనగాదిదిమంచిచిగురు.' T. iii. 63. సింహాసనము simk-āsanamu. n. A lion seat, a seat or throne supported by sculptured lions, a throne, నృపాసనము, భద్రాసనము, రాజపీఠము. సింహాసవస్థుడు simh-āsana-sthuḍu. n. One who is enthroned. పట్టాభిషిక్తుడు. సింహి simhi. n. A lioness. ఆడుసింహము. సింహి or సింహిక. n. The mother of Rāhu. రాహువుయొక్క తల్లి.

(p. 1393) hērāḷamu hērālamu. [Tel.] adj. Much, excessive, great, huge. అతిశయమైన, విస్తారమైన, పెద్ద. లావాటి. 'హేరాళమగుచు బుగులు కొనియె ననాఘ్రాత పూర్వకములు పారిజాత మహీజాత పరిమళములు.' Parij. v. 54.
