(p. 42) athavā atthavā. [Skt.] adv. Or, or else. లేకుంటే, అట్లు కాకుంటే.

(p. 714) parāmarika parāmarika. [from Skt. పరామర్శ.] n. Heed, care, attention. నీ పరామరిక లేకుంటే కార్యముకాదు unless you attend to it the work will not succeed. పరామరికలేక inattentive, negligent.

(p. 974) mānu mānu. [Tel.] v. a. and v. n. To forbear, refrain, abstain, or desist from, leave off, విడుచు. To heal, be healed or cured, కుదురు. To be laid aside or left off, to be got rid of. చెప్పకమానెను he stopped without saying it. అక్కడ ఉండకమానెరు they will not fail to be there. చేయకేలమానను how should he fail to do this? చేయక మానెను he desisted from doing so. This verb implies a general negative as రాకమానెను he did not come. చొరకమానెను he did not enter. కొట్టితే కరవకమానునా if you strike it, will it not bite you? చెప్పినాడో మానినాడో whether he spoke or not: lit whether he spoke or whether he forbore. అక్కడ అది లేకుంటే మానెను I don't care if it is not there. రాయివేతునా మానుదునా shall I throw the stone or no? ఉదహిరించినా మానినా whether they mentioned it or no. చింత మానుము abandon your grief. It is even applied impersonally to mean 'Never mind,' పరవాలేదు, as పట్టలుతడిసినా మానె it does not matter if the clothes got wet. ఇయ్యకపోతే మానె if you won't give it, never mind, no matter, it is of no consequence. మానిపించు or మాన్పించు māni-pinṭsu. v. a. To cause to stop; to prevent. To cause to heal. అతని ప్రయాణము మాన్పితిని I made him stop his journey. మానుకొను mānu-konu. v. a. To relinquish, forego, resign, lay aside, desist from, abstain from. పని మానుకొను to give up or resign an employment. మానుచు, మాన్చు, మానుపు or మాన్పు mānuṭsu. v. a. To stop, heal, cure. మానజేయు. మానిపోయిన పుండ్లను మళ్లీ రేపుట to stir up old sores, to revive old quarrels. మామా māmā. [Tel. short for మానుమామానుమా.] v. imp. Oh! please give up (anger, &c.)

(p. 989) mīḍu mīdu. [Tel.] n. The upper surface; top, head. ఉపరిభాగము, ఊర్ధ్వము. Futurity. భవిష్యత్కాలము. What is vowed, or set aside for sacrifice, దేవతకు నియమించిన ముడుపు. That which is next, the next thing, పరము. మీదుకట్టు mīdu-kaṭṭu. v. a. To devote, sanctify, set aside in the name of God. మీద or మీదను mīda. postposition. Above, on, upon, on the top of, at, against. నామీదవచ్చినతప్పు a fault laid on me. ఆ పనిమీదనున్నాడు he is engaged in that business. వారిని ఈపనిమీద పంపెను he sent them upon this business. ఇక మీద in future. ఉపాయముమీదచేసిన effected by stratagem. పనిమీదపని task after task. మధ్యాహ్నము మీద in the afternoon. మాటమీదమాట word upon word. నామీదకోపముచేసి being angry with me. టప్పాలుమీద పంపుము send a letter by post. గడియలమీదనున్నది it is hourly expected. మీదట mīdaṭa. adv. or prep. After. ఇకమీదట in future. అటుమీదట after which, then. వారుపోయనమీదట after they went away. ఇకమీదట నీకు వారిసహవాసమువద్దు do not have any thing to do with them hereafter. మీదటి mīdaṭi. (Irreg. infl. of మిదు. See మీది.) adj. Subsequent. ఆమీదటిపనులు the subsequent acts. మీదటికి mīdaṭiki. adv. In future, next year. మీదటికి వానలేకుంటే if there should be no rain next year. మీది mīdi. (infl. of మీదు) adj. Upper, higher, the next, above, on. మిదికొమ్మ the top branch. నా మిది ప్రేమ (her or his) love towards me మీది మాట the next word. మీదిపనులు what is to be done afterwards. మీదిమన్ను the upper layer of earth. మీదిగుడ్లు staring eyes: (as in the song దొప్పచెవులు, దోసెకడుపు, మిట్టనొసలు, మీదిగుడ్లు.) దాని మీది సొమ్ములు the jewels which were on her. పాలమిదిమీగడ the cream upon milk. మీదికి mīdiki. (Dative of మీదు) Upon, against. ఆదండు ఏఊరిమీదికి పోయినది against which village is the army gone? ఆ తప్పు మామీదికి వచ్చినది that fault was laid upon us. మీదుమిక్కిలి mīdu-mikkili. adj. Very much, కడు మిక్కిలి.

(p. 1141) valla valla. [Tel. another form of వలన.] A postposition used as a case ending in the 5th case of nouns and pronouns. By, by means of, from. వానివల్ల తెలిసినది I learned it from him or of him. ఈ మందువల్ల by means of this medicine. adj. Convenient, feasible, practicable, possible. యుక్తము, అనుకూలము. అది వల్లకాదు it is impossible. అక్కడికి పోవల్లలేదు you cannot go there. ఇరి లేకుంటే నల్లకాదు I cannot do without this. చెల్లిస్తేగాని వల్లకాదు you cannot avoid paying it. వాడు ఉంటేగాని వల్లకాదు I cannot do without him. నీవు వస్తేగాని వల్లకాదు your coming is indispensable, it cannot be done unless you come. చెప్పుకోక వల్లకాదు you cannot avoid explaining this. n. A stratagem, expedient, convenience. ఉపాయము, యుక్తి. వల్లపట్టుతప్పి పడినాడు he lost his hold and fell. ఎడమనల్లవాడు a left handed man, ఎడమచెయి వాటముగలవాడు. వల్లకాని valla-kāni. adj. Impracticable, impossible. అసాధ్యమైన. వల్లమాలిన valla-mālina. adj. Much, excessive; impracticable, అపరిమితమైన. వల్లగానుండు valla-ga-n-unḍu. v. n. To be convenient, practicable, possible, feasible. సాధ్యముగానుండు.
