(p. 837) pralāpamu pra-lāpamu. [Skt.] n. Unmeanning or incoherent speech, prattle, mere ejaculation. విలాపము, పలవరము, పలవరింత, అర్థములేనిమాట, అక్కరలేనిమాట. Lamentation, wailing. ప్రలాపించు pra-lāpinṭsu. v. n. To use broken words or exclamations. విలపించు, పలవరించు. To lament, wail.

(p. 1107) lē lē. [Tel.] The base of the negative forms లేక, లేని, లేదు, &c. లేక lēka. past participle of లేదు. Not being, not being present, without, wanting. అతడు అక్కడ లేకపోవుటవల్ల by his not being there. వానికి రూకలు లేకపోవుటవల్ల by being in want of money. దాన్ని అణిచేవారులేక యిట్లు విడబడి తిరిగినది she played these pranks as there was no one to check her. కూటికిలేక being in want of food. When added to the infinitive, it means Unable. రాలేక unable to come. దానిని చూడలేక unable to look at it, unable to bear the sight of it. లేకుండ or లేకుండా lēk-unḍā. is used in much the same way as లేక; e.g. అతడు లేకుండ నావల్లకాదు I cannot do it without him లేకుండాచేయు lēk-unḍā-chēyu. v. a. To do away, to get rid of, to turn out. నివృత్తిచేయు. వారిని ఆ యింటిలోలేకుండా చేయుము turn them out of the house. అది వాడు ఇవ్వనక్కరలేకుండా చేస్తిని I relieved him from the necessity of giving it. లేకుండు lēk-unḍu. v. n. To be absent, to be wanting. లేడు lēḍu. He is not; he is not present. ఇంటిలోలేడు he is not in the house. చేయలేడు he cannot do it. వీక్షంపగలేడయ్యె. he could not behold it. లేదా lēdā. It it not? or, or else. అది అక్కడ లేదా is it not there? లేదు lēdu. It is not. అది అక్కడ లేదు. it is not there. లేనట్టు lēn-aṭṭu. As if it is not అతడు లేనట్టున్నది it appears he is not there. అతడు లేనట్టు తెలిసి knowing that he was not there. లేని lēni. adj. Devoid of. తెలివిలేనివాడు he who is devoid of sense. వాడు నోరులేనివాడు he is a dumb creature, a mere fool. తప్పులేని faultless. దోవలేని అడవి a pathless forest. వెలలేనిమాణిక్యము a priceless gem. లేనిపోనిపని nonsense, a fool's errand. లేనిపోనిసౌఖ్యములు vain deluding joys. లేనిమాటలు slanders, falsehoods. లేనిపోనిసాకు a false pretence. పోరులేని పోరుపుట్టె నీప్రొద్దు a dispute arose without cause. 'అదియుగాక రాజ్యమును మహాభూతంబు సోకినప్పు డెట్టిసుజనులకును లేనిచీకుదనములేనిమూగతనము, లేని చెవుడు గొంతయైనకలదు.' K. P. v. 248. లేనివారు the absent; the poor. లేమి lēmi. n. Nullity, not being, absence, want, poverty. కలుగమి, ఉండమి, దారిద్య్రము. 'జనకుడు లేమికింగడువిషాదము నొందె.' M. X. ii. 17. ధనములేమి want of wealth. కలిమిలేములు gains and losses, riches and poverty. లేమిడి lēmiḍi. n. Poverty, want. దారిద్య్రము. లేరు lēru. v. 3rd. pers. plu. They are not. M. V. i. 342. వారు లేరు they are not here. not living. లేవు lēvu. v. (neuter.) They are not.

(p. 1145) vā vā. [Tel. Short for వాయి.] n. The mouth, the face. నోరు. 'నగముదుమ్మున బూడి చిగిరింతనామూయబెరిగిన నూతిపాతరబొరియల.' A. vi. 12. టీ నామూయ పెరిగినచిగిరింత, గడ్డిముఖమెల్లా మూయబెరిగిన. The edge of a sword, ఖఢ్గధారి. వాకట్టు vā-kaṭṭu. n. Gagging, వాగ్భంధనము. నోరుతెరవకుండా చేయడము. ఈతాఖట్టు వాకట్టు అయినది this mortgage is fore-closed. v. a. To gag. నోరెత్తకుండాచేయు.' కుక్కలవాకట్టినృపావరో ధగహభాగంబుల్ ప్రవేశించి.' HN. v. 158. వాకాటు vā-kāṭu. n. Wrangling, వాగ్వాదము. వాచచ్చిననాడు a dumb animal, i.e., a mere fool. నాచెరుచు vā-cheruṭsu. v. a. To spoil the taste of the mouth. వాచరచు vā-ṭsaraṭsu. v. a. Lit: to beat the mouth. To beg alms. (Indian beggars or complainants often slap their open mouth with the open hand in wailing to attract attention.) దీనవృత్తిని యాచించు, నోటిమీదమొత్తుకొను. v. n. To cry. మొరపెట్టు. 'నాత్రోవకడ్డంబు నిలిచివా చరువకనిలునిలుండనుచు.' BD. v. 1050. వాచరువక, మొత్తుకోకుండా. వాచవి vā-ṭsavi. n. Taste or flavour to the mouth. నోటి రుచి. 'భూవరకుమారునకు వాచవిగాసిద్ధవరుడు ద్రావించి.' Sār. D. 556. వాతెర vā-tera. (వా+తెర.) n. The lower lip; lit. the screen of the mouth. పెదవి, అధరోష్ఠము వాపాఠము vā-pāṭhamu. n. Recitation, repeating verses by rote. ముఖస్థముగా నుండడము. 'భరతశాస్త్రంబు వాపాఠంబు వీణె పరిపరివిధముల పలికింపజేర్చు.' నాపుచ్చు vā-puṭsṭsu. v. a. To open the mouth. నోరుతెరచు. To say or tell, చెప్పు. వాపోవు vā-pōvu. v. n. To cry out, to chatter or babble. To cry or bewail, రోదనముచేయు, అక్కరలేనిమాటలాడు, ఏడ్చు.

(p. 1147) vāgu vāgu. [Tel.] v. n. To sound, ring, or emit sound.మోగు. To talk or chatter, అక్కరలేనిమాటలాడు, పదరు. n. A hill stream, a torrent, a channel, a hollow or breach such as that formed by a torrent. కొండనుండివచ్చినకాలువ, సెలయేరు. An army. సైన్యము. 'వాగులన్ వరదలెన్నియువచ్చిన నీరునిల్చునే?' Bhāskara. § 45. వాగుడు vāgudu. n. Sounding, noise, మ్రోగుడు, మ్రోత, ధ్వని. వాగులు vāgulu. n. plu. Waves, అలలు,

(p. 1177) viniyōgamu vi-niyōgamu. [Skt. వి+నియోగము.] n. Using, use, utility, advantage, serviceableness, ఉపయోగము. Sharing anything sacred, as gifts distributed among Brahmins at a temple. గుడిలో ప్రసాదము పంచిపెట్టడము. అందువల్ల నేమి వినియోగము what is the good of it? వినియోగము లేనిమాట an unprofitable statement. వినియోగించు or వినియోగపడు vi-niyōg-inṭsu. v. n. To be used or applied. ఉపయోగపడు. వినియోగించు or వినియోగపరచు vi-niyōginṭsu. v. a. To use, apply. ఉపయోగపరుచు. నీయావచ్ఛక్తిని వినియోగపరచవలసినది you must use every effort; you must apply or put forth all your strength. దీనిని దేనికి వినియోగపరచవచ్చును to what purpose can this be applied? వినియుక్తము vi-niyuktamu. adj. Used, ఉపయోగింపబడిన.

(p. 1326) sāramu sāramu. [Skt.] n. Essence, substance, the essential or vital part. The pith, sap, marrow. Juice. Vigour. The effect or purport. Riches, wealth. మూలగ, మెదడు. చేవ, జలము, పత్త, ఫలము. విత్తము, అర్థము, రసము. 'సారాస్వాదన, ప్రాణపంచకము దృష్ణంబాషి సంతర్పణన్.' A. vi. 29. టీ సారాస్వాదన, మెదడునుభుజింపగా, లోహసారము steel. వేదాంతసారము the essence of Theology; (this is the title of a certain Christain book) శూన్యసారము the essence of emptiness. భూసారము the fertility or richness of the earth. ఇందులో సారములేదు in this I see nothing of any worth. సారములేనిమాటలు dry and empty discourse. adj. Excellent, fruitful, rich, శ్రేష్ఠమైన. సారఖండము a rich or fruitful country of soil. 'సారాచారము' అనగా, శ్రేష్ఠమైన. సారవంతము. M. XIII. ii. సారతరము sāra-taramu. adj. More excellent. మిక్కిలిశ్రేష్ఠమైన. సారవంతము sāra-vantamu. adj. Fruitful, fertile, rich. సారాంశము the essence or purport of any matter. సారవత్తరము sāra-vat-taramu. adj. Best, most excellent. మిక్కిలి శ్రేష్ఠమైన. సారాంశము sār-āmṣamu. n. The essential part, the pith, gist or purport. An issue framed by a court. సత్త, నిగ్గు, సారస్యము.
