(p. 753) piḍi piḍi. [Tel. Lit: to hold.] n. A small handle, hilt, haft. కత్తి పరుజులోనగునది, త్సరువు. A handful, a fist, పిడికిలి. The female of any animal, ఆడుమృగము. రెండు పిళ్లరంసము a two handled saw. నులక పిడి a skein or ball of string. గురపిడి or మునుబిడి the female bison. Kālahas. ii. 83. పిడియేనుగు a female elephant. పిడికట్టు piḍi-kaṭṭu. n. The middle part of a bow where it is held, లస్తకము, వింటినడుము, పిడికిలి piḍi-kili. n. A hold or grasp, a fist, ముష్టి. ప్రాణాలుపిడికిట పట్టుకొన్నాడు his life is in his hand, i.e., he is in great distress: he is at the point of death. (Gen. పిడికిటి. Loc. పిడికిట. plu. పిడికిళ్లు.) పిడుగును బోలు పిడికిటవానిని పొడిచెను he hit him with his fist which was like a thunderbolt. పిడికిలించు piḍikilinṭsu. v. a. To hold in the fist. పిడికిట బట్టు. పిడికిలింత piḍikilinta. n. Closing the hands in homage. 'వారణగిరిపై నరదస్వామికి, పిడికిలింతలని పెంపుగనుడువుచు.' H. iv. 286.

(p. 809) podugu podugu. [Tel.] n. The udder of a cow. పొదుగుకోసి పాలుతాగు to cut off the udder to drink milk; a proverb like that of killing the goose that laid golden eggs. పొదుగుచేయు podugu-chēyu. v. n. To have a large udder, as a cow about to calve (ఆవులోనగునది యీనబోవుకాలమందు) పెద్దపొదుగుగలదగు. ఆవు పొదుగు చేస్తున్నది the milk is coming into the udder (previous to calving time.)

(p. 946) maṇi maṇi. [Skt.] n. A gem, a precious stone. పచ్చరాయిలోనగునది. A pearl, ముత్తెములోనగునది. In compounds this denotes Unrivalled excellence, as నాయికామణి a woman who is a gem of her sex. వప్రమణి the noblest of Brahmins. సుందరీమణి the loveliest of women. అంగనామణులు lovely women. దినమణి the gem of day, i.e., the sun. నవమణులు nine precious stones, viz. గోమేధికము Onyx, నీలము Sapphire, పగడము Coral, పుర్యరాగము Topaz, మరకతము Emerald, మాణిక్యము Ruby, Carbuncle; ముత్యము Pearl, వైడూర్యము Cat's eye. lapis lazuli; వజ్రము Diamond. మణులుచెక్కిన సంకెళ్లు jewelled fetters, i.e., disguised difficulties. మణికంఠము maṇi-kanṭhamu. n. The Indian Roller, Corracia indica, చాషము, పాలపిట్ట మణికట్టు, మనికట్టు or మణిబంధము maṇi-kaṭtu. [Tel.] n. The wrist; మణికట్లను తెగగొట్టు to cut off the hands. మణికారుడు maṇi-kāruḍu. n. A jeweller.
