The male of certain birds, animals and plants, పశు పక్షులలోమగది. ఆబోతు an ox, వృషభము. ఎనుబోతు a male buffalo. మేకపోతు a he-goat, a ram. నక్కపోతు a male fox. గొడ్డుపోతు a barren woman. పోతుటీగ a male fly. పోతుటేనుగు a male elephant. పోతుకరుడు the bigger surf, పెద్దఅల. పోతుతాడు the male palm tree. పోతురౌతు, an epithet of Yama, the god of Death, యముడు. పోతుపిల్ల, a male young one. పశుజాతిలో మగపిల్ల. పోతుపిల్లి a tom cat. పోతు sometimes means one who is addicted to, as తాగుబోతు a drunkard. తిండిబోతు a glutton. తూగుపోతు a sluggard వదురుబోతు a chatter box. పోతుపిచ్చిక or పెద్దపిచ్చిక pōtu-pichchika. n. The Ashy-crowned Finch Lark. Pyrrhulauda grisca. (F.B.I.) పోతురాజు or పోతరాజు pōtu-rāḍsu. n. The name of a rustic god, like Pan, worshipped throughout the Telugu, Canarese and Mahratta countries. He represents the male principle associated with the village goddesses Gangamma, Peddamma, &c. A proverb says పాడుఊరికి మంచపుకోడుపోతురాజు in a ruined village the leg of a cot is a god. cf., 'a Triton of the minnows' (Shakespeare.) బమ్మెరపోతరాజు the name of a certain poet. పోతులరాజు pōtula-rāḍzu. n. A name given to a large hound.

(p. 851) prēlu or పేలు prēlu. [Tel.] v. n. To prattle or tattle, to chatter, talk in a silly manner. వదరు. To be roasted and swollen, వేగు, వేగియుబుకు.' ప్రేలరి prēl-ari. n. A talkative person, a chatter-box, వదరుబోతు. వ్రేలలు, వేలలు or వేలాలు prēlalu. n. Roasted rice. వ్రేలుచు or వ్రేల్చు prēlutsu. v. n. To fry or roast, ప్రేలజేయు, పేచు. ప్రేలుడు or ప్రేలడము prēluḍu. n. Talkativeness, ప్రేలుట. ప్రేలరితనము prēlari-tanamu. n. Talkativeness. వదురుబోతుతనము. 'అన్న ప్రేలరితనమున నడివివడుగులాడుమాటలు కీవింతయడలెదేల.' Chenn. iii. 139.

(p. 1127) vadaru or వదురు vadaru. [Tel.] v. n. To spread, అడరు, వ్యాపించు. To prattle, chatter, jabber. ప్రేలు. 'నోరునిలువకవదరిన.' Vema. iii. 305. n. Chattering, prattling. ప్రేలుడు The long gourd, సొరకాయ, ఆనపకాయ. వదరుతీగె the creeping plant of the long gourd, Cucurbita lagenaris. ఆనపతిగె, సొరతీగె. 'ఆ వరదుడైనయీశువరము ననిదియొక్క, వదరుపుట్టెనెట్టివరమొయనుచుదాని బారవైనగానున్న.' M. III. iii. 44. వదరుబోతు, వదురుబోతు or వదర vadarụ-bōtu. n. A chatterbox, an empty talker. ప్రేలువాడు.

(p. 1154) vāyi rāyi. [Tel.] n. The mouth, నోరు. The face, ముఖము. The edge of any cutting instrument, కత్తియంచు. Wind, వాయువు; as కోరవాయి, మండవాయి. వాయివిళంగము the name of a tree. M. III. vi. 261. నీళ్లవాయి a valley or hollow through which a stream sometimes runs, నలుదిక్కులను కురియునీళ్లు వచ్చేదారి. నూతివాయికట్టు a parapet round a well, దవురుగోడ, పశ్వాదులుపడకుండా భావిచుట్టుకట్టినగోడ. Plu. వాతులు. వాత rāta. (Loc. of వాయి the mouth.) In the mouth. మీరు వచ్చేదాక మాకు వాత తడిలేదు there was no moisture in our mouth until you came, i.e., we were in terror until your arrival. వాణ్ని పిరంగివాతపెట్టినారు they blew him up from the mouth of a cannon. వాతరట్టు vāta-raṭṭu. n. A chatter box, వదురుబోతు. వాతవాడి vāta-vāḍī. n. An unpleasant talker. వాతి vāti. (Gen. of వాయి.) వాతికాసు vāti-kāsu. n. Hush-money, a bribe, లంచము. వాతిబియ్యము or వాతికాసుబియ్యము vāṭi-biyyamu. n. A few grains of rice put in the mouth of a dead person when lying on the funeral pile. పీనుగునోటవేసే బియ్యము. వాయోడు vāy-ōḍu. v. n. To be unable to open the mouth, to be unable to talk, to be timid in speaking, to be bashful or reserved in speech. వాయోడక frankly, freely నోరు అణచుకొనకుండా. 'అత్తపదినెల వాయోడకకసరు బోరువారలతోడన్.' S. iii. 321.

(p. 1200) vīteñcu vī-tenṭsu. [Tel. వీచు+తెంచు.] v. n. To come, or blow, as the wind. గాలి మొదలైనవివచ్చు, విసరు. వీచు. 'అద్దిక్కున నొక్క యపూర్వదుర్వార ఘోషంబు వీతేరవాకర్ణించి.' P. i. 185.
