State, condition, situation: trouble, difficulty, atrait. దశ, సంకటము. వాడు నిండా దురవస్థలోనున్నాడు he is in a wretched state. అవస్థాత్రయము, అనగా జాగ్రత్స్వప్నసుషుప్తులు the three states: viz., waking, sleeping and dreaming. అవస్థాచతుష్టయము, అనగా బాల్యావస్థ the period of childhood. యావనావస్థ the period of youth. వార్ధకావస్థ old age. మరణావస్థ the agony of death.

The ultimate import, purport, result, or point of a passage, the tendency as distinguished from the literal sense. ఫలినము phalinamu. n. A fruit tree. విద్యమాన ఫలవద్వృక్షము. G. iii.146. ఫలినీ phalinī. n. A tree called ప్రయంగువు, తరిగొర్రచెట్టు. ఫలోదయము phal-ōdayamu. Success, enjoyment, gain, profit; heaven, paradise, joy, happiness. ఫలోన్మఖము phal-ōnmukhamu. adj. Fruitful, effective, efficacious. అది యిప్పుడు ఫలోన్ముఖముగానున్నది it is now coming to good.

(p. 946) maṇi maṇi. [Skt.] n. A gem, a precious stone. పచ్చరాయిలోనగునది. A pearl, ముత్తెములోనగునది. In compounds this denotes Unrivalled excellence, as నాయికామణి a woman who is a gem of her sex. వప్రమణి the noblest of Brahmins. సుందరీమణి the loveliest of women. అంగనామణులు lovely women. దినమణి the gem of day, i.e., the sun. నవమణులు nine precious stones, viz. గోమేధికము Onyx, నీలము Sapphire, పగడము Coral, పుర్యరాగము Topaz, మరకతము Emerald, మాణిక్యము Ruby, Carbuncle; ముత్యము Pearl, వైడూర్యము Cat's eye. lapis lazuli; వజ్రము Diamond. మణులుచెక్కిన సంకెళ్లు jewelled fetters, i.e., disguised difficulties. మణికంఠము maṇi-kanṭhamu. n. The Indian Roller, Corracia indica, చాషము, పాలపిట్ట మణికట్టు, మనికట్టు or మణిబంధము maṇi-kaṭtu. [Tel.] n. The wrist; మణికట్లను తెగగొట్టు to cut off the hands. మణికారుడు maṇi-kāruḍu. n. A jeweller. (p. 1168) vijayamu vi-jayamu. [Skt.] n. A great conquest, a complete triumph, a great victory. మిక్కిలి గెలుపు. This word is used in the titles of several poems, and can be translated 'Adventures' or 'Tale,' as తారాశశాంకవిజయము the adventures of Tāra and Sasanka, similar to those of Stella and the Genius. విజయ vi-jaya. n. The name of a Telugu year. విజయదశమి vijaya-daṣami. n. The tenth day of the month Asvayuja, being the day after the festival to Sarasvati, when all books, arms and instruments of trade are worshipped. విజయముచేయు or విజయంజేయు vi-jayamu-chēyu. v. n. To come, వచ్చు. To proceed; deign or condescend to come or go. వేంచేయు, విచ్చేయు, వచ్చు, పోవు. ఈవేళ మాయింటికి విజయము చేస్తారా will you do me the honor to come to my house? will you favour me with your company.
