(p. 318) koddi koddi. [Tel. short for కొలది.] n. A little, a trifle, something. adj. Little, small, few. Petty, trifling, slight, mean, base. కొద్ది పిచ్చివాడవుకావు you are no slight fool. కొద్దిగా in a slight degree. కొద్దిగొప్ప less or more. కొద్దిదినాలకు in a few days, in a short time. (Affix.) As, up to, according to, in proportion to, as much as, as far as. మీకుతోచినకొద్ది as much as you think proper. సమయముకొద్ది మనిషి a timeserver. వాని బలము కొద్దిచేసినాడు he did it as well as he could. కొద్దిమంది a few people.

(p. 739) pānasamu pānasamu. [Tel.] n. A kitchen. వంటయిల్లు. Cookery, వంట. పానసపు బాడబులు Brahmin cooks, వంటబ్రాహ్మణులు, పానసపుది a kitchen maid, వంటలక్క. 'అమ్మహీపతి నీవెవ్వరివాడవని యడిగెనేని పాండవాగ్రజునకుం బానసంబు సేయుదు ననంగల వాడననిన విని.' M. IV. i. 78. పాపసిడు pānas-īḍu. n. A cook. పంటవాడు, స్వయంపాకి. M. IV. ii. 12 & i. 72.

(p. 740) pāpamu pāpamu. [Skt.] n. Sin, crime, evil. అతణ్ని గురించి పాపము పుణ్యము రెండు ఎరుగును I know nothing about him either good or bad. interj. Alas! O dear! what a pity! unhappily! పాపము, వారుపడినారు alas! they fell down. ఆపె అక్కకు అన్నానికిలేదు పాపము her sister, alas! has nothing to eat. ఆ చిన్నవాణ్ని కొట్టకు పాపము for shame! don't beat the boy. మహా తెలిసినవాడవు పాపము you are a clever fellow, to be sure! వాడు నమ్మినాడు పాపము he believed it, alas! పాపము ఆ రూకలు అతడు చెల్లించినాడు to do him justice, he paid the money. పాపాత్ముడు, పాపపురుషుడు, పాపి or పాపోష్ఠుడు pāp-ātmuḍu. n. A sinner, wretch, villain. పాపాత్మురాలు a wicked woman, a sinful wretch. పాపి pāpi. interj. A vocative particle addressed to a woman or man. My dear! ఒరేపాపి my good fellow! పాపికా, ఓపాపోష్ఠులారా O wicked woman. 'కోపించి యాతండు గొంతి కిట్లనియెల, పాపికాబ్రమసితే? ప్రాణవల్లభుని దూపొడ గూడునేతుంపర్లునిండ.' BD. iii. 576. పాపోష్ఠి pāpisṭhi. adj. Horrid, scandalous, nefarious (a general term of disgust.) పాపిష్ఠుడు pāpishṭhuḍu. n. A great sinner, a miscreant. మిక్కిలిపాపి. పాపుడు pāpuḍu. n. A sinner. A cruel man, హింసకుడు. A wretch, అధముడు. Bhag. X.

(p. 814) pollu pollu. [Tel.] n. Pitchless grain in an ear. బొత్తిగా గింజలుపట్టని వడ్ల సమూహము. Trash, worthless stuff. తాలు, పనికిరానిది. The consonant sound of a letter, etc., A useless word, a slip of the tongue. A lie, a falsehood. అనృతము. 'పొల్లురాదగని దోస్తివి.' Pal. 399. అనగా, అబద్ధము రాగూడని స్నేహమువాడవు. adj. Useless, వ్యర్థము, Sumati, 29. పొల్లునదంచిన బియ్యము corn beaten out of husk of pined grain. వాని పొల్లు వాడు పోసికొని బ్రతుకుతాడు he keeps his blighted grain to himself, i.e., he keeps all his griefs to himself. బంగారుపొల్లు ఉన్నదిగాని మనిషిపొల్లులేదు gold may prove worthless, but man neveer can be so. మాట పొల్లుపోకుండా ఆడుతాడు he speaks without any slips. నకారపొల్లు the letter N. (్) without the vowel sound attached to it as in the words కలిగెన్, చెలగెన్. పొల్లుపోవు pollu-pōvu. v. n. To become worthless. చెబ్బరైపోవు. 'కాళ్ల గొలుసులవారు గడెమస్నెబంట్లు, జోళ్లుగా నున్ణట్టి సురభినాయకులు, ఘల్లుమన్నతిరిగి మళ్లుమనువారు, పొల్లుపోకయని పోట్లాడువారు.' Pal. 107. To lie, tell stories or lies, అబద్ధమాడు. పొల్లుదనము pollu-danamu. n. Dispiritedness, effeminacy, పౌరుషములేమి. పొల్లుపడు pollu-paḍu. v. n. To become useless, వ్యర్థమగు.

(p. 909) bollu bollu. [Tel for పొల్లు.] v. n. To tell a lie. అబద్ధమాడు. n. A lie, a falsehood, అనృతము. 'బొల్లురాదగనిదోస్తివి.' Pal. 399. అనగా అబద్దమురాకూడని స్నేహముగలవాడవు.

(p. 995) mukkūru mukkūru. [Tel.] v. n. To beccome ignorant, అజ్ఞానమునుపొందు. 'వ ఈ యెక్కువతక్కువలు, విచారింపక వలవనివెరపు కట్టుకొని ముక్కూరి యూరక వగచుచున్నవాడవు.' భార. ఉద్యో. ii.

(p. 1127) vadine or వదినియ vadine. [Tel.] n. An elder brother's wife. అన్నభార్య. The daughter of a mother's brother or of a father's sister, if older than one's self. తనకంటె పెద్దదైన మేనత్త మేనమామల కూతురు. The elder sister of a wife or husband. మొగుడి అక్క లేక పెండ్లానికి అక్క. మీయన్నయు వదినెయు your elder brother and his wife. వాడవదినె a prostitute, which Shakespeare also calls an 'aunt.' వేశ్య. 'వాడవదినెకేల వావివర్తనములు చాడిగానికేల జాడబుద్ధి, మూఢమతులకేలమదముతో జ్ఞానంబు.' Vema. 1689.

(p. 1149) vāḍa vāḍa. [Tel.] n. A street, a range or row of houses. వీధి, ఇండ్లవరుస. Fragrance, scent, పరిమళము. 'వాడవారెరిగినవన్నెదరుగు.' H. i. 138. 'వాడకురికి తిట్టు వలదన్న మొరబెట్టు, ముందుమగనిదిట్టుముసుకుబెట్టు గడుసురాలు మగనిగంపబెట్టమ్మురా.' Vēma. 173. వాడకురికి, వీధెక్కి. వాడకట్టు vāḍa-kaṭṭu. n. Neighbourhood. వాడవదినె vāḍa-vadine. n. A whore, లంజె, వేశ్య. 'వాడవదిసెకేలవావివర్తనములు, చాడిగానికేలజూడబుద్ధి మూఢమతులకేల మదముతోజ్ఞానంబు.' Vēma. 1869.

(p. 1215) veli veli. [Tel.] n. Whiteness, తెలుపు. The outside or exterior, బయట, బాహ్యము. The external surface of the body, దేహముయొక్క బహిఃప్రదేశము. Publicity, బయలుపాటు. Excommunication, or exclusion from caste, బహిష్కారము. మాలో వెలి అనేమాటలేదు excommunication is unknown in our caste. 'వెలికిగోర్కు లెల్లవిడిచిపెట్టి.' Vēma. 791. adj. White, తెల్లని. Outer, outside, external. బైటి, బాహ్యమైన. వెలిగుడారు a tent pitched outside the town. వెలిపొలములు the outlying fields of a village. వెలికొత్తు to drive out. వెలికత్తెరనేల veli-kattera-nēla. a. A land mixed with gravel. కంకరమన్ను కలిసిననేల. వెలికిలు veli-kilu. v. n. To fall on the back,to touch the ground with the back. వీపుక్రిందగు. To lie on the back, వీపు క్రిందుగాపరుండు. వెలకిల velikila. adv. Supine, lying on the back, ఉత్తానముగా. వెలకిలబడు to lie on the back. వెలిగడ veli-gaḍa. n. Dry land. మెట్టనేల. వెలిగారము veli-gāramu. (వెలి+కారము.) n. Borax. బంగారమునకు కాంతితెచ్చే ఒకవిధమైన తెల్లని ఉప్పు. వెలిగిడ్డి veli-giḍḍi. n. The fabulous cow that grants all wishes, కామధేనువు. వెలిగుల్ల veli-gulla. n. A conch shell, శంఖము. 'వెలిగుల్లయు వనమాలయు గలిమియు మానికము మేనగలిగినవేల్పున్' G. iv. 169. వెలిగొండ veli-gonḍa. n. The distant mountain. Same as వెలితిప్ప. వెలిగౌరు veli-gauru. n. The white elephant of Indra, ఐరావితము. వలిచంట్ర The white species of the tree called చండ్ర వెలిచవి veli-ṭsavi. n. Adultery. జారత్వము. వెలితిప్ప veli-tippa. n. The silver mountain, Kailasa. వెండి కొండ, కైలాసము. వెలితుమ్మ the white species of the తుమ్మచెట్టు. వెలిదుక్కి veli-dukki. n. Ploughing land while it is moist with rain. నీళ్లుకట్టకుండావానతడితో దున్నడము. (Opposed to రొంపిదుక్కి.) వెలిపము Same as వలిపము. (q. v.) వెలిపుచ్చు or వెలిపరచు veli-putstsu v. a. To reveal, divulge. బైటబెట్టు, బయలుపరుచు, 'వేదశీర్షమెల్లవెలి బుచ్చగానేల.' Vēma. 214. వెలిపెట్టు See వెలివేయు. వెలిబూడిద veli-būḍida. n. The ashes of cowdung fuel. పిడకనిప్పులబూడిద. వెలిబిత్తరి a certain feat in wrestling. వెలిమాడు exports. లోమాడు imports, goods received. వెలిమావు veli-māvu. n. (Indra's) white horse, (ఇంద్రుని) తెల్లగుర్రము, ఉచ్చైశ్శ్రవము. వెలిమావులు white mares. 'విమలాంబుదముల బూనిన విమానములనదగవెలసి వెలిమావులు.' M. VII. i. 228. 'వేరొక్క వెలిమావువేల్పుదొరకు.' R. i. 46. వెలిమిడి or వెల్మిడి veli-miḍi. (వెలి+మిడుగు.) n. The ashes of cow-dung fuel, ashes, పిడకనిప్పులబూడిద, భస్మము. 'తెలుపులన్నియు మేలుదెలియంగనిసుక వెలిమిడియెముకలు వెసనుప్పుపత్తి.' Madhura Puran. D. page. 78. వెలిమొట్ట veli-moṭṭa. n. A sort of fish, the 'white snout.' వెలిమొట్టలనుదండువల తలార్లకునిచ్చె కొడిసెలపరిహాసకులకు నిచ్చె.' G. i. 111. వెలిమ్రాను veli-mrānu. n. The fabulous tree that grants all wishes, కల్పవృక్షము. వెలియునికి veli-y-uniki. n. Living in a foreign land, పరదేశవాసము. వెలివాడ veli-vāḍa. n. The outer 'street' or shrub of a town in which the pariahs live. బైటనుండేమాలపల్లె, చండాలవాటిక. వెలివాడపని veli-vāāa-pani. n. Cobblers' work. మాదిగపని. 'వెలివాడపని క్రొత్తమలక వాల్గొని నూనెయిడితంగెడాకుగట్టెడు తహతహ.' A. vi. 94. వెలివాడు or వెలివాడవాడు veli-vāḍu. n. An out caste, a pariah. చండాలుడు. మాలవాడు. 'వెలివాండ్రురెపల్లెకు జేరిరయ్యెడన్.' M. xiii. iii. 270. వెలివారు veli-vāru. n. A cordon formed round a hunting place. వేటాడుదోట బయటచుట్టుపారించెడుపోగు. వెలివెరియు Same as వెల్లివిరియు. (q. v.) వెలివిసరు veli-visaru. v. n. (p. 1289) saḍi saḍi. [Tel.] n. Infamy, disgrace. అపకీర్తి. Slander, reproach, censure, blame, దూరు, అపవాదము, నింద, దూషణ. A trace, ౛ాడ. 'కనివాడవొవిని వాడవొ చనునేనామీద నిట్టి సడిమోపంగన్.' P. i. 747. సడిసన్న saḍi-sanna. adj. Celebrated, famous, renowned. ప్రసిద్ధికెక్కిన, పేరుపడ్డ. 'మనవలలుండు లావున బంటుతనమున జనులెరుంగగ సడిసన్నవాడు మంచిమగండు జనులెరుంగగ సడిసన్నవాడు మంచిమగండు దామగ్రంధి యసకుసంగ్రామకేళి గాఢకౌతుకుండు.' M. IV. iii. 146.
