(p. 694) pacca paṭsṭsa. [Tel.] n. Lit: Leaf colour. Green, yellowish green, yellow colour, (a leaf being first green, then fading into yellow.) An emerald, మరకతము. Any figure punctured or tattooed into the skin, because it is coloured green. A green plant or tree. cf. 'పైరుపచ్చ' adj. Green, yellow, sallow. (The word పచ్చ radically means Bright, fair-coloured.) పచ్చ పొడుచుకొను to tattoo the skin. ఆకుపచ్చ or హరిదళపచ్చ yellow. కలంకారిపచ్చలు a sort of cloth, or painted chintz. See on పచ్చి. Various shades of green are called కప్పుపచ్చ a still lighter tint, రాతిపచ్చ emerald green, చిలకపచ్చ bright green, మక్కిపచ్చి dirty dark green. వాని కండ్లు పచ్చపారినవి he has the jaundice. వారు ఇప్పుడు పచ్చగానున్నారు they are now in prosperous circumstances. కాపు పచ్చగా నుంటే రాజు చూడలేడు the king cannot bear to see a thriving farmer. పచ్చనరాలు the blue veins. పచ్చగువ్వ a bright yellow green bird; the green pigeon. పచ్చపైకము a good coin. HD. ii. 153. పచ్చకట్లపాము a green snake. పచ్చకన్నులమెకము paṭsṭsakannula-mekamu. n. Lit: The yellow eyed beast, i.e., a lion, హర్యక్షము. పచ్చకర్పూరము paṭsṭsa-karpūramu. n,. Green coloured camphor: crude camphor. This is the name of a brilliant white drug, used to curve the eye, which real camphor injures. It is not in lumps but is a powder. పచ్చకామెరలు paṭsṭsa-kāmerulu. n. Jaundice. పచ్చజిట్ట paṭsṭsa-jiṭṭa. n. The common Iora (a small green and yellow bird.) Ӕgithina tiphia. (F.B.I.) పచ్చజీనువాయి paṭsṭsajīnu-vāyi. n. The Red-headed Bunting, Emberiza luteola. (F.B.I.) పచ్చన or పచ్చదనము. paṭsṭsana. n. Greenness or yellowness. పచ్చని paṭsṭsani. adj. Green, yellow. పచ్చబంగారు yellow or pure gold. పచ్చగానున్న yellow or golden: prosperous, fortunate. పచ్చబ్రాలు paṭsṭsa-brālu. n. Yellow rice, i.e., rice coated with saffron and used to sprinkle over persons on auspicious occasions. పచ్చరెక్క poṭsṭsa-rekka. n. The Indian Bee-eater, Merops viridis. పెద్దపచ్చరెక్క or కొమ్మపచ్చరెక్క pedda-paṭsṭsa-rekka. n. The blue tailed Bee-eater. Meropus philippensis. (F.B.I.) పచ్చవలువదారి paṭsṭsa-valuva-dāri. n. Lit: One who wears a yellow cloth, i.e., Vishṇu, పీతాంబరుడు. పచ్చవారుపవు౛ోదు or పచ్చవార ్వపు౛ోడు paṭsṭsa-vāruvupuḍzōdu. n. Lit: One who rides on a green animal, i.e., the sun or Manmadha. హరిదశ్వుడు, శుకవాహుడు. పచ్చవిలుతుడు. పచ్చవిల్తుడు or పచ్చవిలుకాడు paṭsṭsa-vilutuḍu. n. Lit: The green bow-man, i.e., Manmadha, whose bow is green, being made of a sugar cane. పచ్చారె చెట్టు paṭsṭs-āre-cheṭṭu. [పచ్చ+ఆరెచెట్టు.] n. A large forest tree with a very fragrant flower, Banhenia spicata.

(p. 740) pāpamu pāpamu. [Skt.] n. Sin, crime, evil. అతణ్ని గురించి పాపము పుణ్యము రెండు ఎరుగును I know nothing about him either good or bad. interj. Alas! O dear! what a pity! unhappily! పాపము, వారుపడినారు alas! they fell down. ఆపె అక్కకు అన్నానికిలేదు పాపము her sister, alas! has nothing to eat. ఆ చిన్నవాణ్ని కొట్టకు పాపము for shame! don't beat the boy. మహా తెలిసినవాడవు పాపము you are a clever fellow, to be sure! వాడు నమ్మినాడు పాపము he believed it, alas! పాపము ఆ రూకలు అతడు చెల్లించినాడు to do him justice, he paid the money. పాపాత్ముడు, పాపపురుషుడు, పాపి or పాపోష్ఠుడు pāp-ātmuḍu. n. A sinner, wretch, villain. పాపాత్మురాలు a wicked woman, a sinful wretch. పాపి pāpi. interj. A vocative particle addressed to a woman or man. My dear! ఒరేపాపి my good fellow! పాపికా, ఓపాపోష్ఠులారా O wicked woman. 'కోపించి యాతండు గొంతి కిట్లనియెల, పాపికాబ్రమసితే? ప్రాణవల్లభుని దూపొడ గూడునేతుంపర్లునిండ.' BD. iii. 576. పాపోష్ఠి pāpisṭhi. adj. Horrid, scandalous, nefarious (a general term of disgust.) పాపిష్ఠుడు pāpishṭhuḍu. n. A great sinner, a miscreant. మిక్కిలిపాపి. పాపుడు pāpuḍu. n. A sinner. A cruel man, హింసకుడు. A wretch, అధముడు. (p. 779) pūṭa pūṭa. [Tel.] n. A time. కాలము. A part of a day. సంధ్య. A day, దినము. Security, surety, bail. ప్రతిభూత్వము. One who stands bail for another. పూటకాపు. పగటిపూట in the day time. రాత్రిపూట at night. తెల్లవారుపూట in the morning. నాలుగుపూటలు మందిచ్చినాడు he administered medicine two mornings and two evenings. పూటకాపు pūṭa-kāpu. n. One who stands security. ప్రతిభువు. ౛ామీనుదారుడు. పూటకూడు food obtained by paying for each meal, boarding. ఏపూటకు ఆపూట సొమ్ము ఇచ్చి తినుట, వెలతీసుకొని వేళవేళకు పెట్టెడు అన్నము. పూటకూళ్లయిల్లు an inn or boarding house. పూటకూళ్లమ్మ a woman who makes her living by preparing food for daily wages. పూటపెట్టు or పూటవెట్టు. v. a. To give bail. పూటబడు or పూటబడు pūṭa-baḍu. v. n. To stand bail. అతడు నాకు పూటబడినాడు he stood security for me, అతడు నాకు ౛ామీనుగానున్నాడు. పూటసాక్షి a hired or false witness. దొంగసాక్షి, బూటకపు సాక్షి. పూటపూటకును ఇదే రచ్చ this is the daily plague, ఎల్లప్పుడు ఇదే పోరు or రంధి. పూటవాటు pūṭa-vāṭu. n. The act of standing security for another.

(p. 989) mīḍu mīdu. [Tel.] n. The upper surface; top, head. ఉపరిభాగము, ఊర్ధ్వము. Futurity. భవిష్యత్కాలము. What is vowed, or set aside for sacrifice, దేవతకు నియమించిన ముడుపు. That which is next, the next thing, పరము. మీదుకట్టు mīdu-kaṭṭu. v. a. To devote, sanctify, set aside in the name of God. మీద or మీదను mīda. postposition. (infl. of మీదు) adj. (p. 1157) vāru vāru. [Tel. plu. of వాడు. he.] pron. They, వాండ్రు. It is also thus used, as equivalent to people folk. నావారు my people. మీవారు your people. ఈ యూరివారు the people of this village. నేను చూచినవారు the people whom I saw. Added to some nouns it has an honorific sense, as దేవరవారు, దొరవారు your honor. Infl. వారి their. వారు v. n. To flow down, or drain off, as water from boiled rice, వడియు, గంజిమొదలైనదికారు. To be lessened or diminished, ఉడుగు. v. a. To pare or cut thin, as the ends of a palm leaf. తాటాకు ఓరచివ్వు. వారుకొను vāru-konu. v. a. To take up by the handful. Metaphorically, to get, gain, possess oneself of. పిడికిళ్లాదిగా ఎత్తుకొను, పొందు; చెందు. నన్ను మోసము చేసి వాడేమి వారుకొన్నాడు has he gained any thing by cheating me? వారుచు or వార్చు vāruṭsu. (causal of వారు) v. a. To touch water with the lips and cast it away. ఆచమించు. To cause to flow, వారజేయు. గంజివార్చు to pour off the water from boiled rice by inclining the vessel, వారు నట్టుచేయు. To expect, ప్రతీక్షించు, ఉద్దేశించు. సంధ్యవార్చు to offer up prayers: (because while uttering the prayer called సంథ్య they let water run through their hungers.)
