(p. 80) ari ari. [Tel.] Affix denoting possession. నేర్పు skill, నేర్పరి skilful, సిగ్గు shame, సిగ్గరి timid. అరి ari. [Tel.] n. A bowstring. Tax, tribute. వింటినారి, ప్రజలవద్ద రాజులు మర్యాదకు పుచ్చుకొనేపాలు. అరివెట్టు to pay revenue. ఆరిగోరులు the share both of the government and of the inhabitants, i.e., the total produce. పుల్లరి tax on grazing lands. 'అరులుమిగుల గొనిరాజులు, నరులకు నెంతయును భయమొనర్తురు.' M. III. v. 302.

(p. 120) āra āra. [Tel.] n. A shoemaker's awl. మాదిగవానిసూది. ఆర adv. (lit. so as to fill) Much; fully. (From ఆరు.) It is often added to a noun; as చెవులార వింటిని I heard it distinctly: కండ్లార చూస్తిని I saw him plainly with my own eyes. కడుపార భోజనము చేసినాను I ate to the full. ఆర āra. [Tel.] A vocative plural suffix as అన్నలార. O brothers!

(p. 180) ekasakemu or ఎకసక్కెము ekasakemu. [Tel.] n. A prank, trick. వంచన. Mockery పరిహాసము. 'చక్కెరవింటివాని యెకసక్కె ములన్నియుచూపు' indulging in all sorts of amorous pranks.

(p. 181) ekku ekku. [Tel.] n. A bowstring. వింటినారి. Also, encouragement, incitement, goading on ప్రేరేపణ. ఎక్కుదించినాడు he unbraced or unbent the bow.

(p. 181) ekkuḍiñcu ekku-ḍinṭsu. [Tel. ఎక్కుడు+ఇంచు] v. t. To increase హెచ్చించు. ఎక్కుడు ekkuḍu. [Tel. from ఎక్కు.] n. Ascent, greatness. ఎక్కుట, అతిశయము. A bow-string వింటినారి. ఎక్కుడు ekkuḍu. adj. High, great, mighty. అధికము. ఎక్కుడుతనము ekkuḍu-tanamu. Superiority. ఆధిక్యము. P. i. 634.

(p. 319) koppu koppu. [Tel.] n. The chignon or tuft in which a Hindu female folds her tresses. కేశబంధము. కొప్పు or కొప్పు వాసము the crest of a roof. The tip or end of a bow వింటికొన. తిరుపతి కొప్పులు bald heads so used because people have their heads shaved when they visit Tirupati. కొప్పుగువ్వ koppu-guvva. n. The Indian hoopoe.

(p. 325) kōṭi kōṭi. [Skt.] n. A crore or ten millions. A host. జీవకోటి the animal kingdom: వృక్షకోటి the vegetable kingdom: దేవకోటి or సురేంద్రకోటి the army of gods: the host of heaven. బంధుకోటి or సుహృత్కోటి or నిజాస్తకోటి one's friends and relations, the circle of one's acquaintance. చరాచరకోటి all nature, both animate and inanimate. కోటికందర్ప లావణ్యము a thousandfold brighter than Cupid himself. బాలార్క కోటిరుచిరము more beautiful than the morning sun. In astrology, the calculation of a man's nativity. The end or tip. ధనుష్కోటి the end or horn of a bow వింటికొప్పు.

(p. 327) kōpu kōpu. [Tel.] n. A side or quarter. పార్శ్వము. A bit or stick, కడ్డీ. బలపుకోపు a slate pencil. A sort, a kind or variety. A windfall, something out of the direct line. The tip or end of a bow వింటికొప్పు. A salutation నమస్కారము. Manner విధము. An occasion సమయము. A cause నిమిత్తము. A mercantile house or firm. Beauty అందము. Harmony in music or dancing నాట్యము తీర్పు. A fish-hook చేపలను గ్రుచ్చునట్టివాగాలము. Intoxicating liquor మద్యము. Fatness కొవ్వు, బలము. ఈ వాన వల్ల నేలకు కోపు ఇచ్చినది this rain has softened the earth. కోపుదారుడు kōpu-dāruḍu. n. One who imports goods for sale సరుకులను బయ టనుండి తెచ్చి అమ్మువాడు. కోపుపారు kōpu-pāru. v. n. To look beautiful, to acquire beauty. అందగించు.

(p. 331) kausu or కవుసు kaunu. [Tel.] n. The waist. నడుము. The middle part of a bow. వింటినడుము. 'చ. పిడికెడుకౌసు గొప్పగని ప్రేమ త్రివిక్రమాంగి జేసితే, బిడికెడుకొను గొప్పుబయిజేర్చు గుణంబును గంటినంచు.' ఆము. i.

(p. 356) ganayamu ganayamu. [Tel.] n. The end or tip of a bow. వింటికొప్పు, పోకముడి.

(p. 377) gubaguba or గుభగుభ gubaguba. [Tel.] n. Hubbub. గుబగుబలు లేనికూటమి meeting without tumult. అక్కడ ఏమి గుబగుబలు what is the uproar? వారేమో గుబగుబలాడుచున్నారు there is some stir among them. adv. Tumultuously: with indistinct accents. పిల్లకాయలు గుబగుబపరుగెత్తిరి the boys ran along noisily. 'గుబగుబమని పల్కు కోకిలపల్కులు, విని యివి నేర్తువా యనుచు నవ్వు.' T. ii. 97. సముద్రము గుబగుబలాడుచున్నది the sea roars aloud. ఊరంతా గుబగుబలాడు తున్నది all the village is up, in a stir, or in a ferment. గుబాటున gubāṭuna. adv. All at once, in a moment.బాటు౛డివానలు sudden showers. గుబాదెబ gubā-deba. adv. Bang! slapdash. 'గుబాదెబ వీధుల వెంటజంటలై' H. v. 191. వాణ్ని గుబాదెబగుద్దినారు they beat him thoroughly. గుబాలు or గుబేలు gubālu. n. A bang! a loud sound. గుబాలను to bang, to make a noise. గుబాలున or గుభాలున all at once. Bang! crashingly. నీళ్లలో బాలునదుమికినాడు he leapt slapdash into the water. గుబాలుమన్న ధ్వనివింటిని I heard an explosion or a bang. గుబాళించు gubā-ḷ-inṭsu. v. n. To be emitted or burst forth, as scent. 'కమ్మతావిగుబాళించు తమ్మికొలను' a pond perfumed with lilies. Vijaya. i. 162.

(p. 388) gonayamu gonayamu. [Tel.] n. A bowstring. వింటినారి. The tip of a bow, where the notch is. వింటినారికొలికి. ధనురగ్రము. ABA. iii. 76.

(p. 424) cīma chīma. [Tel.] n. An ant. కొండచీమ. the forest ant. రెక్కలచీమ a winged ant. పారేచీమను వింటాడు he can hear an ant crawl, i.e., he is all alive. చీమదూరని అడవి a forest impervious even to an ant. చలిచీమ a black ant; పై పారేపక్షి కిందపారే చీమ (proverb) The bird above, the ant below, i.e., I had no chance with him. చీమంత of the size of an ant. చీమపులి chīma-puli. n. The ant lion, an ant-eater.
