'క ఇచ్చటి బంధులు నీవును. వచ్చెరుపడి వినుచునుండ నైదూళ్లును మాకిచ్చినను జాలునంటిని, పొచ్చెముగాదింతపట్టు పూర్ణముసుమ్మీ.' M. V. iii. 11. పొచ్చెపు pochchepu. adj. Deceitful. కపటమైన, వంచనైన.

(p. 810) ponugu ponugu. [Tel.] adj. Short, పొట్టి, Dull looking, not bright, తేజములేని. పొనుగుపడు, పొనుగుపోవు, పొనుపడు or పొన్పడు ponugu-paḍu. v. n. To become dull in color, to grow cool or calm, చల్లారు, నిస్తేజమగు. To come to ruin, నశించు. To be reduced to nothing, శూన్యమగు. 'ఈ విమనాకీర్తిజగంబుల, బొనుగుపడియెనీవు భువన పూజితవృత్తిం, బనుపడితిగానతగనీ, కనల పదవినుండనాకు. నలవడదింకన్.' M. III. v. 152. (p. 845) prāṇamu prāṇamu. [Skt.] n. Air, wind, breath, life, vitality, the living soul. గాలి, హృదయమందలి గాలి, హృదయమందలిగాలి, ఉసురు. In Grammar, a vowel. ప్రాణముతోనున్నవాడు one who is yet living. కొనప్రాణముతోనున్నాడు he is nearly dead. ప్రాణమువిడిచెను he breathed his last, gave up the ghost. పంచప్రాణములు pancha-prāṇamulu. n. The five vital airs, called ప్రాణము, అపానము, సమాణము, ఉదానము, వ్యాసము. అతడు దానిమీద ప్రాణములు విడుస్తున్నాడు or వానికి దానిమీద పంచప్రాణములు he loves her very dearly. ప్రాణముమీదకువచ్చేపని a most perilous affair. వానిప్రాణము మీదికి వచ్చినది he is in danger of his life. ప్రాణముతో పట్టుకొనిరి they caught him alive. నా ప్రాణముపోయినా ఇట్లు చెప్పుదునా I will not say so even if it should cost me my life. వాడు పిడికిట ప్రాణములు పట్టుకొని వచ్చినాడు he arrived half dead. వానికి నేర్పుట ప్రాణసంకటమవును it would cost immense labour to teach him. ఆ విగ్రహమునకు ప్రాణప్రతిష్ఠచేసినారు literally, they gave life to the image, i.e., they performed the ceremony by which the god is supposed to be lodged in the image. ప్రాణత్యాగము suicide, ఆత్మహత్య. ప్రాణాతురము or ప్రాణసంకటము deadly peril. 'ప్రాణాతురమైనచో పరిణయంబులయందును బల్కుబొంకు సత్యాతిశయంబు.' M. III. v. 67. ప్రాణాపాయము mortal danger. ప్రానావనము saving the life. ప్రాణావసానకాలమున in his last moments. ప్రాణాహుతి the five morsels offered to the five vital principles. ప్రాణస్నేహము intimate friendship. ప్రాణదానముచేసినాడు he gave them their lives, he spared their lives. నా ప్రాణము ఉండేమట్టుకు as long as I live. ప్రాణగొడ్డము prāṇa-goḍḍamu. n. The loss of life, death. చావు, ప్రాణహాని, ప్రాణాపాయము. 'వినునృపరాజ్యామిషముంగొనపలువురచేత ప్రాణగొడ్డంబైయున్నను ధీరుడే మరమినది దనకునుదక్కించుకొను బుధస్తుత్యముగాన్.' M. XII. ii. 208. ప్రాణదుడు prāṇa-duḍu. n. The giver of life, the creator. బ్రహ్మ. ప్రాణనాధుడు or ప్రాణేశుడు prāna-nādhuḍu. n. The lord of (her) life, i.e., a husband or lover, మగడు. Yama, యమధర్మరాజు. ప్రాణవాయువు prāṇa-vāyuvu. n. Oxygen gas. ప్రాణాచారము prāṇā-chāramu. See ప్రాయోపవేశము. ప్రాణాయామము prāṇā-yāmamu. n. A ritual mode of breathing, while mentally reciting certain prayers, stopping one nostril and inhaling or exhaling with the other: నాసికారంధ్రము లవద్ధనుండు వాయువును మంత్రపూర్వకముగా నిరోధించుట. A. iii. 88. ప్రాణి prāṇi. n. A being, or living creature. జంతువు.

(p. 929) bhōgamu bhōgamu. [Skt.] n. Enjoyment, possession, అనుభవము. Happiness, సుఖము. Food, భోజనము. A snake's body or crest. పాముశరీరము, లేక, పాముపడగ అష్టభోగములు the eight kinds of enjoyment as Home గృహము, Bed శయ్య, Clothes వస్త్రము. A bed room. పడకగది. భోగబంద bhōga-banda. n. A mortgage in which the article pledged or mortgaged may be converted to use, as land, houses, cattle, &c. the profits of which are to be appropriated by the lender or mortgagee in lieu of interest. భోగమంటపము bhōga-manṭapamu. n. An open hall or porch of a temple, in which festivals are celebrated. కళ్యాణ మంటపము. భోగవతి bhōga-vati. n. The name of the Capital of the Nagas or serpents, పాతాళము. శేషసర్పపట్టణము. The name of the infernal Ganges. పాతాళగంగ. A fashionable lady. భోగముగలది. భోగస్త్రీ bhōgā-stri. n. A kept woman, mistress or concubine, a prostitute. 'విచిత్రవీర్యుని భోగస్త్రీయందు విదురునింబుట్టించె.' Vish. vi. 425. భోగశిపత్రి bhōgāṣi-patri. n. A name of Garuda. 'భోగాశిపత్రితరస్ఫూర్త్యనుబావ.' Swa. v. 133. టీ పన్నగాశనపతత్రి. గరుత్మంతుడు. భోగి bhōgi. n. A happy man. భోగముగలవాడు. One who lives in splendour or luxury. అనుభవశాలియైనపురుషుడు. A serpent. సాము. The name given to the eves of some particular feasts. పండుగతొలినాడు. భోగించు bhōginṭsu. v. a. To enjoy, అనుభవించు. To be happy, సుఖించు, భోగించుట bhōginṭsuṭa. n. Enjoyment. Plu. భోగించుటలు. 'మనమానాడుమహావినోదముల ప్రేమల్ మీరభోగించుటల్ వినుము.' Radha. iii. 25. భోగిని bhōgini. n. A royal concubine. రాజు ఉంచిన బోగముది. An inferior wife of king. పట్టాభిషిక్తురాలుకాని రాజుభార్య. A female serpent. ఆడుపాము. భోగ్యత bhōgyata. n. Deliciousness, sweetness. దీనిభోగ్యత దేనికీలేదు nothing is more delicious than this. భోగ్యము bhōgyamu. n. Use, usufruet, enjoyment, or something given in pledge or on mortgage. భోగ్యపత్రము a mortgage bond, wherein the lender assumes the temporary use of the property mortgaged. adj. Enjoyable, fit to be enjoyed, delicious, agreeable as food. అనుభవింపదగిన. ఆ ప్రసాదము భోగ్యముగానుండలేదు that food was not agreeable. భోజనము bhōjanamu. n. Food, a repast or meal, ఆహారము. Eating, కడుపు. భోజనముచేయు to eat, to dine. భోజనకస్తూరి small oranges pickled. భోజరాజు or భోజుడు bhōja-rāju. n. The name of a king celebrated by Sanskrit poets as a bountiful patron. భోజ్యము bhōjyamu. adj. Edible, fit to eat, eatable. భుజింపదగిన n. Food, ఆహారము.

(p. 960) malagu or మలుగు malagu. [Tel.] v. a. and v. n. To wander, to roam about, to turn, to quit. తిరుగు, మళ్లు, మరలు, నివృత్తిచేయు. To be bent, వంకరగు. 'సారెమలంగిచూచుచున్.' A. iii. 28. (p. 970) māṭa māṭa. [Tel.] n. A word, పదము. A promise, వాగ్దత్తము, ప్రతిజ్ఞావచనము. Slander, నింద. Opinion, rumour, వృత్తాంతము. అతడు నీ మాట చెప్పలేదు he did not speak of you. ఇది వేరే మాట this is another affair, another thing. వానిమాటకాదు this is not about him, I am not talking about him. గడియకు ఒకమాట చెప్పినాడు he changed his mind every hour. మంచిమాట (interj.) Very well. దాన్ని గురించి రెండో మాటలేదు there is no alternative. వారివిద్ద మాటలుపడినాడు he was reproached or reprimanded by them. In some phrases the word మాట need not be translated. Thus, ఆమె తిరిగీ వస్తున్నదనేమాట తెలిసి knowing that she would return. నేను దానిని కొన్నమాట రూఢి it is very true I bought it. ఆమాటే యెరుగను I know nothing of it. ఇందుచేత మాటవచ్చును by this you will get into disgrace. అతడు మాటతప్పలేదు he did not fail in his promise. మాట తప్పినవాడు మాలవాడు a promise breaker is a pariah, i.e., is a mean wretch. నేను పోయినమాట వానికి ఎట్లా తెలిసినది how did he know that I was gone? అతడు పోయేమాట ఉండేమాటా does he propose to go or stay? వాడు ఉండేమాట యింకా తెలియలేదు I do not as yet know that he will remain. మాటకుమాట word for word, literally. నా మాట అడుగుదాటకు transgress not my command. తనమీద మాటరాకుండా ఇట్లా చేసెను he did this to avoid blame. మాటవినుట to obey. ఎంతమాట what nonsense! వానిమాట వాని ఒడిలో వేసినాను I acted as he desired. నీకు మాట నాకు మూట a command is easy to give but hard to perform, or a word from you will make me rich. వెయ్యిమాటలేల why discuss it at length, in a word. ఆ పెండ్లి మాట యీ గ్రంథములో లేదు there is no mention of the marriage in this book నామాటవేరు, నీమాట వేరు I say one thing you say another, my opinion is different from yours, my case is quite different from yours. వానికి నాకు మాటలు లేవు he and I are not on speaking terms. వానితో నీకేమిమాటలు why do you speak with him? ఈమాట వింటే ఆయన యేమనును if he hears of this what will he say? కడపటిమాటయేమి what was the upshot of the business? ఇప్పట్లో వాని మాట సాగదు he has now no influence. కడకు వానిమాటే ముందరికివచ్చినది at last his words proved true. దానిని గురించి ఇంకా యేమాటా తెలియలేదు I do not yet know the result. మాటలకు పట్టుకొంటే విడవడు if he begins talking he will never stop. అదెక్కడిమాట what nonsense! such a thing is impossible. మాటలు మంచివే కాణి మనసు మంచిదికాదు he talks well but has a bad heart. ఇంకా మాటలు రాని బిడ్డ a child that cannot yet speak. వానికి ఆ ఊరిలో మాట వాసికద్దు లేక మాట సాగుతుంది he has influence in the town. ఆయన మాటకు ఎదురులేదు his word is law. మాటలకుమాత్రము పేదరికములేదు as far as words go he is rich enough. ఒక మాట యిచ్చి పదిమాటలు తీసుకొన్నాడు his reproaches were returned ten-fold. మాటకాడు māṭa-kāḍu. n. A good public speaker, సభయందు భయములేక మాటాడువాడు, వక్త. మాటకారి māṭa-kāri. n. A skilful speaker, యుక్తిగా మాటాడువాడు. A talkative person, వాచాలుడు. మాటలమారి māṭala-māri. n. A talkative person, మిక్కిలి మాటాడువాడు. మాటలాడు, మాటాడు or మాట్లాడు māṭa-l-āḍu. v. n. To speak, talk, converse, to reproach. నన్నెందుకు ఊరికె మాటలాడుతావు why reproach me for nothing? S. iii. 41.

(p. 976) māraṭa māraṭa. [Tel.] adj. and adv. Other, another, counter, ప్రతి, ప్రతికూలము. Altered, changed. ప్రతి, ప్రతిరూపమైన. In lieu of. మారటరతి a second Venus, a perfect beauty. మారటమారుడు another Cupid. మారటరూపు an exact likeness. 'మరిమీద దేవేంద్రు మారటగద్దె నెరినెంతకాలంబు నిలు పుదునంటి.' HD. ii. 2816. (p. 996) mukhamu mukhamu. [Skt.] n. The mouth, నోరు. The face, countenance, మొగము. The commencement, ఆరంభము. The front, ముందటిభాగము. The external appearance, the look of the face, ముఖవిలాసము. నిశాముఖము nightfall, evening. సేనాముఖము the front of the army. నఖముఖములు the points of the nails. ముఖమిచ్చు to indulge. అతడు వారితో ముఖమిచ్చి మాట్లాడలేదు he did not speak with them as a friend. 'బల్దూరంబైన శ్మశానవాటి ముఖమాలోకింపగన్.' Bilh. iii. 25. అధోముఖుడుగానుండినాడు he was hanging with his head down. ఆ దివిటీని అధోముఖముగాపట్టినాడు he held the torch with the flaming end downwards. 'అనుఘకథాముఖంబున హితాహిత బోధమొనర్తురింపుగా.' Mand. i. 8. టీ కాథా ముఖంబున by means of a story, కథచేతను అర్ధముఖము the profile or half face. తమరు రామునిముఖముచూచి నన్ను రక్షింపవలసినది I pray that for the sake of Rama you will relieve me. పడమటిముఖముగా towards the west. పడమటిముఖముగా నుండే యిల్లు a house facing the west. ఆడదానిముఖమెరుగనివాడు a youth that as yet knows not the face of a woman, i.e., entirely chaste. అందరును ఏకముఖముగా నుండలేదుగనుక as they were not unanimous or were not all of one mind. 'బాణకృపాణముఖాస్త్ర శస్త్రములు,' M. VII. ii. 275; arrows, swords, and other weapons. ముఖముమాడ్చుకొనినాడు he looked sulky or angry. వానికి ముఖము చచ్చినది he turned pale, he looked blank or ashamed. ముఖదాక్షిణ్యము complaisance. వానిముఖములో ఈగ ఆడలేదు he was all in a pucker. ఆ రూకలను వాని ముఖముమిద పారవేయుము fling the money at his face. అది వానికి ముఖపాఠముగానున్నది he has got it by heart. వాడు ముఖప్రితి మాటలాడును he talks plausibly. ముఖమెరుగనివాడు a stranger. ముఖమెరుగనిదేశము a strange land, a land where one has no acquaintance. ముఖవాసికలవాడు he is a winning man. వానికి ముఖవశ్యముకద్దు he is a very taking man. ముఖము తప్పించుకొనిపోయినాడు he has absconded or disappeared. ముఖస్తుతి flattery. ముఖస్తుతిచేయు to flatter. వాని కాశ్లోకము ముఖస్థముగానున్నది he knows the verse by heart. ముఖద్వారము mukhadvāramu. n.
