(p. 650) niguḍu niguḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To stretch, or be extended, వ్యాపించు, నిక్కు, సాగు. To rise or increase, విజృంభించు. To fly or be discharged, as a dart. To fall upon or attack, కవియు. To hasten, వేగిరపడు. To become straight, చక్కబడు. To be fulfilled, నెరవేరు. To be vented, as a sigh. To burst forth, as rage. ఆర్పులునిగిడె shouts arose. 'ఇంద్రియములు విషయములమీద, నిగుడనీక మనంబులో మగుడ దిగిచి.' M. XII. v. 90. 'నీళ్లలోన నోడ నిగిడి తిన్నగ బ్రాకు బైట మూరెడైన బ్రాకలేదు.' Vēma. 'నీళ్లలోన మొసలి నిగిడియెనుగు బట్టు, బైట కుక్కచేత భంగపడును.' Vēma. నిగుడుదెంచు niguḍudenṭsu. v. n. To jut out. నిక్కు. నిగడ nigaḍa. (Root in A of నిగుడు.) adv. Out, long, along. నిగడగొలుచు to overreach in measurement. నిగడ దన్నుతాడు చూడు he will kick you so that you will stand straight. నిగిడారు (నిగిడి+ఆరు.) Same as నిగుడు. నిగుడించు, నివుడించు, నిగిడించు, నిగుడుచు or నిగుడ్చు nigudinṭsu. v. a. To stretch, extend. To discharge, shoot, cast, emit (light), give (a sigh). To raise up, prop up. నిగుడజేయు. చూడ్కి నిగుడించు to extend the view over the opening landscape. 'అందనిపండుకేమిటికి నర్రు నిగుడ్చెదవు.' HD. i. 2032.

(p. 767) puṇyamu puṇyamu. [Skt.] n. Virtue, holiness, merit, excellence, purity. ధర్మము. A good deed, a good or meritorious work or action, a work of supererogation, that which is more than required as a matter of duty. సుకృతము. adj. Virtuous, sacred, holy, pure, righteous. పవిత్రము. Good, excellent, మనోజ్ఞము. Charitable, generous. పుణ్యశ్లోకుడు a celebrated man. పుణ్యకథలు godly legends. పుణ్యకాలము an auspicious time. పుణ్యస్త్రీ (corrupted into పునిస్త్రీ) a happy woman, one whose husband is living. నన్ను ఉత్త పుణ్యానికి కొట్టినాడు he beat me without cause, meaning the same as నిష్కారణముగా. నీపుణ్యముచేత తొందరవచ్చినది (ironical) for this trouble we may thank you. ఇది అంతా మీ పుణ్యము this is all due to you goodness. నీపుణ్యముండును వాని జోలికిమాత్రము పోకు for goodness' sake do not meddle with him. పుణ్యానికి ఇచ్చినపొలము a field granted in free gift. A well known verse says. శ్లోకార్ధేన ప్రవక్ష్యామి యుదక్తం గ్రంథకోటిభిః, పరోపకారః పుణ్యాయపాపాయ పరపీడనం. పుణ్యజనుడు puṇya-januḍu. n. A man of excellence, a holy man, సుజనుడు. A Rākshasa, an evil spirit, రాక్షసుడు. పుణ్యజనేశ్వరుడు puṇya-janēṣvaruḍu. n. Kubēra. పుణ్యబూమి puṇya-bhūmi. n. The Holy land (of the Hindus), i.e., Hindustan, the land between the Himalayas and the Vindhyas. పుణ్యలోకము puṇya-lōkamu. n. Heaven. పుణ్యవంతుడు puṇya-vantuḍu. n. One who is holy or virtuous. ధార్మికుడు, అదృష్టవంతుడు. ఈ విషయములో అతడు చాలా పుణ్యవంతుడు. in this respect he is very lucky. పుణ్యస్త్రీ or పుణ్యాంగన puṇya-strī. n. A good housewife, good woman, lady. పుణ్యాత్ముడు puny-ātmuḍu. n. A holy, pious or charitable person, పుణ్యస్వరూపుడు. పుణ్యాహము puṇy-āhamu. n. A holy or sacred day, పుణ్యదినము. పుణ్యాహవాచనము puṇy-āha-vāchanamu. n. The consecration or hallowing of a ceremony. A ceremonial purification. పుణ్యుడు puṇyudu. n. A holy or virtuous man. పుణ్యులారా O holy men!

(p. 1194) viṣayamu vishyamu. [Skt.] n. An object, matter, subject, affair, thing. Any peculiarity as colour, form, flavour, odour, sound. Definition, respect, relation. అంశము, సంగతి. ఇంద్రియార్థము, శబ్దాదిపంచ భూతగుణము. 'విషయములబొరలి రోయక విషమంటినగతిని జూచువిధమున ధరలో విషసమమాయా సుఖములవిషయములన్ గూడకుండ్రునేత్తలు.' Vema. 499. ఆ విషయము నాకు తెలియదు I do not know anything about it. ఈ విషయములో నిండాసొమ్ము వ్యయముచేసినాడు he spent much money on this. సద్విషయములలో తనసొమ్ము వ్యయము చేసినాడు he spent his money on worthy objects. శృంగారవిషయమైన కావ్యము a poem on amorous subjects. ఈ విషయమందు in this respect. ఆ విషయమందు in that respect. అతని విషయమందు regarding him. ఆ విషయమై regarding that subject. ఏతద్విషయముగా మాట్లాడినాడు he spoke regarding this. మీ విషయములో regarding you. విషయి vishayi. n. An organ of sense. నేత్రాదియింద్రియము. A man of the world, one who is conversant with or interested in worldly occupations or enjoyments. లోకవ్యవహారవ్యక్తుడు, సంసారమగ్నుడు, సంసారికుడు. విషయించు visha-yinṭsu. v. n. To have to do with carnally. సంభోగముచేయు. విషయీకరించు visha-yī-karinṭsu. v. a. To aim at. ఉద్దేశించు.
