(p. 109) āgamanamu āgamanamu. [Skt.] n. Arrival. వచ్చుట, రాక. ఆగమము āgamamu. n. Arrival, approach; a treatise on వేదాంతము or divinity describing religious rites. A grammatical augment or letter inserted in any part of the radical word or affix as ఇంచుకాగమము 'the causal affix inṭsu' as in the word వ్రాయించు. వర్షాగమము the coming of the rains, the rainy season.

(p. 519) tāntrikamu tāntrikamu. [Skt.] adj. Relating to the Tantras or unorthodox scriptures. Unscriptural, apocryphal, sophistical as opposed to వేదాంతము or అర్షము scriptural. తాంత్రికపు ఉపనయనము a loose performance of the rite of upanayanam. See on తంత్రము. తాంత్రికుడు tāntrikudu. n. One versed in the Tantras. A sophist, a freethinker or materialist.

(p. 990) mīmāṃsa mīmāmsa. [Skt.] n. A discussion or disputation held to find out the truth regarding anything. ప్రమాణైరర్థవిచారణ, ప్రమాణములచేత నిజము గ్రహించడము. Polemical divinity. Theological criticism. The name of one of the six great Indian philosophical systems, పూర్వ మీమాంస is a system of ritualism. ఉత్తరమీమాంస is a system practically the same as the వేదాంతము, జ్ఞానకాండ. పుత్రీకరణమీమాంస is a 'treatise' (or essay) on adopting a daughter. మీమాంసచేయు to dispute, argue. మీ యిద్దరికి ఇందును గురించి చాలా మీమాంసజరిగినది we had a great discussion about this matter. మీమాంసకుడు mīmāmsakuḍu. n. One who knows the Mīmānsa system of philosophy, మీమాంస శాస్త్రము తెలిసినవాడు.

(p. 1172) vitamu vitamu. [from Skt. విధము.] n. Manner, way, mode, kind, sort. విధము.' వితముదెలిసిమీరువేదాంతమెర్గుడీ.' Vēma. ii. 283. వితమరి vitam-ari. n. A skilful person, కార్యదక్షుడు. A husbandman, a peasant, కాపువాడు.

(p. 1221) vēdamu vēdamu. [Skt. √ vid. to know.] n. Knowledge, art, science, విద్య, జ్ఞానము. Divine knowledge or science, the sacred or inspired writings. The Veda or sacred books of the Hindus. బ్రహ్మముఖమందు పుట్టినచదువు, శ్రుతి, శాస్త్రము. వాడు చెప్పినది వేదము all he said was taken for gospel. వేదమూర్తులైన his reverence, his holiness, a title given to learned theologians. ధనుర్వేదము the art of the bow, i.e., archery. వేదశాస్త్రము vēda-ṣāṣtramu. n. The Vedanta or philosophical portion of the Hindu Scriptures. వేదాంతము. వేదాంగములు vēd-āngamulu. n. plu. The sciences dependant on or auxiliary to the Vēdas. వ్యాకరణాదులైన షట్ఛాస్త్రములు. They are శిక్ష, the science of pronounciation and articulation, కల్పము the detail of religious ceremonies, వ్యాకరణము grammar, ఛందస్సు prosody, జ్యోతిషము astronomy, నిరుక్తి the explanation of the difficult or obscure words and phrases that occur in the Vedas. వేదాంతము vēd-āntamu. n. The theological part of the Vedas, i.e., the Upanishads, ఉపనిషత్తులు. A name given to the Advaita system of philosophy. వేదాంతి vēd-ānṭi. n. A follower of the Vedanta philosophy, వేదాంతశాస్త్రమును చదివినవాడు, వేదాంతము తెలిసినవాడు. A bachelor, బ్రహ్మచారి.
