(p. 813) polamu polamu. [Tel.] n. A field, corn land. చేను, పైరుపెట్టునేల. A rice field, వరిపైరుపెట్టునేల. Uncultivated land on which cattle graze, పసులుమేయు భూమి. A forest, అడవి. A place, land, ground, ప్రదేశము. ఊరిపొలము the land attached to a village. వెలిపొలము the outlying fields belonging to a village. A village, ఊరు. A trace, ౛ాడ. Manner, విధము. పొలపు కూరలు field herbs, or ordinary herbs, as చెంచలి, చిట్లింత, పేరింత, పొన్నగంటి, మొదలైనవి. (These weeds infest fields sown with జొన్నలు, &c.) 'అప్పొలమువరాహపోతములు భూవర తొండములేని యేనుగుల్.' Swa. iv. 18. టీ అప్పొలము వరహపోతములు, అక్కడి అడవిపందిగున్నలు. 'గీ ఈ పొలములగుమహాధిక వ్రతములు దేహబాధకములు.' M. (p. 878) bāmu bāmu. [Tel.] n. Birth, production. జన్మము. Grief, దుఃఖము. Embarassment, entanglement. చిక్కు, తొందర, భంగము. తొలుబాము a former birth. 'రఘూద్వహనే సపరాధినైననీ, పాదములు జనింపతొలుబాముల నోములపెక్కునోమ గం, గాదిమహానదుల్.' R. vii. 118. తొలుబాములనోములు, అనగా పూర్వజన్మములందు చేసిన వ్రతములు. బాములిడు to harass. (p. 1238) vratamu vratamu. [Skt.] n. A religious vow, a self imposed task, a religious observance or obligation. ధర్మసాధనోపవాసాది పుణ్యకర్మము. వ్రతము చేయు or వ్రతమును అనుష్ఠించు to observe a vow. ఏకపత్నీవ్రతము conjugal fidelity. శాకవ్రతము abstaining from certain food on special occasions. ఏకాదశీవ్రతము the observance of a religious fast on the eleventh day of either lunar fortnight. వ్రతకల్పము vrata-kalpamu. n. A treatise on vows. మోములు మొదలైన వ్రతములవిధి. వ్రతి or వ్రతస్థుడు vrati. n. One who makes or performs vows, a votary, వ్రతములు ఆచరించువాడు. One who offers a sacrifice, యజ్ఞముచేయువాడు.
