(p. 82) aruṇamu aruṇamu. [Skt.] adj. Red. ఎర్రని. అరుణత or అరుణిమ. n. Pink, dark red. ఎరుపు. ఇంచుకయెరుపు, కపిల వర్ణము, సంధ్యా రాగము. అరుణుడు aruṇuḍu. n. Sun. The charioteer of the sun. సూర్యుడు, సూర్యసారథి. అరుణోదయము aruṇōdayamu. n. The dawn of the day. వేకువజాము.

(p. 103) asura or అసురుడు asura. [Skt. lit. 'Assyrian'.] n. A demon, giant. రాక్షసుడు. The Asuras were such as Rāvaṇa and Bana, who were adorers of Siva. అసురకృత్యము a horrible deed. అసురధ్రువము asura-dhruvamu n. The south pole. దక్షిణధ్రమము. అసురసంధ్య asura-sandhya n. The dusk, the evening. సాయంకాలము. (In the Vedas and in the cuneiform inscriptions, the word అసుర is used in the sense of (1) a nobleman, (2) a powerful being, (3) a god. In later Skt. literature, it is always used in an evil sense.)

(p. 570) tribhaṅgi tri-bhangi. adj. 'Three ways' twisted. The name of a certain graceful attitude in which some statues stand: such as the వేణుగోపాల or Piping Apollo; or that given to the ద్వారపాలకులు or door keepers carved on each side of a temple gate. The word frequently occurs in books on sculpture (Silpi) and in some poems, but is no where precisely defined. త్రిభంగిన్, three fold: in three ways. మూడువిధములవునట్టుగాను Swa. iii. 76. త్రిభాగము tri-bhāgamu. adj. Divided into three parts or shares. త్రిభువనము or త్రిలోకము tri-bhuvanamu. n. The three worlds: heaven, earth, and hell, i.e., the universe. త్రిమూర్తి tri-mūrti. n. The Hindu Triad, consisting of Bramha, Vishnu, and Siva. త్రియామ tri-yāma. n. Night. M. VII. v. 317. త్రిరాత్రము tri-rātramu. n. Three nights, మూడురాత్రులు. త్రిలింగము tri-lingamu. adj. 'Three gendered.' -a phrase for Sanskrit nouns of the common gender. 'Three formed.' 'త్రిమూర్తుల త్రిలింగవ్యక్తులన్.' B. vii. 333. Also a fictitous or fanciful name (యౌగికపదము) used for the Telugu language. It is peculiar to Appa Cavi, and a few other modern writers, but is not mentioned in any ancient or classical poet: nor in any Sanskrit Dictionary, in lists of the 'fifty six countries.' See W. Vish. Pur. p. 193. In some modern lists Troilinga is named, but without any authority. త్రివర్గము a collection of three (things) as Duty (ధర్మము,) Wealth (అర్థము,) and Desire (కామము) or the Gunas called సత్వరజస్తమములు, or the states called Increase (వృద్ధి), Decrease (క్షయము), and Stationariness (స్థానము.) త్రివళి tri-vali. n. A threefold corrugation on the stomach considered a beauty in women. 'లితకృశోదరంబు తరశత్రివళీయుత రోమరాజియున్.' M. I. iv. 49. త్రివిక్రముడు tri-vikramuḍu. n. He who subjugated the three worlds in three strides, i.e., Vishnu. త్రివిష్టవము tri-vishtapamu. n. Heaven. స్వర్గము. త్రివేణి tri-vēṇi. n. Lit: The Triple braided, an epithet of the Ganges which according to mythology, springs in three streams from the head of Siva. త్రివేణుక or త్రివేణువు tri-vēṇuka. n. The bands of a carriage pole. నొగకట్లు. T. v. 16. M. VII. i. 302. త్రిశంకువు tri-ṣankuvu. n. Name of the father of the hero Harischandra. త్రిశంకుస్వర్గము the Aerial regions, the place of happiness created for త్రిశంకు who could not be admitted into heaven on account of his low origin. త్రిశూలము tri-ṣālamu. n. The three pronged weapon of Vishnu. త్రిషవణము tri-sharvaṇamu. n. The three ablutions, to be performed at morn, noon and night. M. Youth, adolescence, యౌవనము. నీరుకావి or నీర్కావి nīru-kāvi. n. A reddish tint. the soft tint of fine cloth after its newness has gone off. కొంచెమెరుపు. నీరు కావులు nīru-kārulu. n. A sort of grain. One who stands bail for another. పూటకాపు. పగటిపూట in the day time. రాత్రిపూట at night. తెల్లవారుపూట in the morning. నాలుగుపూటలు మందిచ్చినాడు he administered medicine two mornings and two evenings. పూటకాపు pūṭa-kāpu. n. One who stands security. ప్రతిభువు. ౛ామీనుదారుడు. పూటకూడు food obtained by paying for each meal, boarding. ఏపూటకు ఆపూట సొమ్ము ఇచ్చి తినుట, వెలతీసుకొని వేళవేళకు పెట్టెడు అన్నము. పూటకూళ్లయిల్లు an inn or boarding house. పూటకూళ్లమ్మ a woman who makes her living by preparing food for daily wages. పూటపెట్టు or పూటవెట్టు. v. a. To give bail. పూటబడు or పూటబడు pūṭa-baḍu. v. n. To stand bail. అతడు నాకు పూటబడినాడు he stood security for me, అతడు నాకు ౛ామీనుగానున్నాడు. పూటసాక్షి a hired or false witness. దొంగసాక్షి, బూటకపు సాక్షి. పూటపూటకును ఇదే రచ్చ this is the daily plague, ఎల్లప్పుడు ఇదే పోరు or రంధి. పూటవాటు pūṭa-vāṭu. n. The act of standing security for another.

(p. 961) malu malu. [Tel. a form of మరు from మరుస.] adj. The second. మలుకారు malu-kāru. n. The second crop produced within the year, the light crop. రెండో మారుపెట్టినపంట. Also, winter, శీతకాలము. మలుచూలు first child. మలుపక్కము the second fortnight, కృష్ణపక్షము. మలుసం౛ malu-sandza. n. The evening time, eventide. సాయంసంధ్య. మలుచుట్టు malu-tsuṭṭu. n. It is also thus used, as equivalent to people folk. నావారు my people. మీవారు your people. ఈ యూరివారు the people of this village. నేను చూచినవారు the people whom I saw. Added to some nouns it has an honorific sense, as దేవరవారు, దొరవారు your honor. Infl. వారి their. వారు v. n. To flow down, or drain off, as water from boiled rice, వడియు, గంజిమొదలైనదికారు. To be lessened or diminished, ఉడుగు. v. a. To pare or cut thin, as the ends of a palm leaf. తాటాకు ఓరచివ్వు. వారుకొను vāru-konu. v. a. To take up by the handful. Metaphorically, to get, gain, possess oneself of. పిడికిళ్లాదిగా ఎత్తుకొను, పొందు; చెందు. నన్ను మోసము చేసి వాడేమి వారుకొన్నాడు has he gained any thing by cheating me? వారుచు or వార్చు vāruṭsu. (causal of వారు) v. a. To touch water with the lips and cast it away. ఆచమించు. To cause to flow, వారజేయు. గంజివార్చు to pour off the water from boiled rice by inclining the vessel, వారు నట్టుచేయు. To expect, ప్రతీక్షించు, ఉద్దేశించు. సంధ్యవార్చు to offer up prayers: (because while uttering the prayer called సంథ్య they let water run through their hungers.) 'హేమకుంభ జలములనొగివార్చి జలకంబుదీర్చి.' DRU. 774. 'సంధ్యవార్చువేళ.' G. vi. 17. వారుపు or వార్పు vārupu. n. The act of straining water or letting it flow, ఆచమనము. Water poured off from boiling rice, గంజి.

Vesper; appertaining to the evening, or vesper hour. సాయంకాలపు. సందెచీకటి the evening twilight. సందెదీపమన్నా పెట్టదు she has not so much as a light in the evening. సందెవేళ or సందెకడ at even-tide, in the evening.
