(p. 123) ārjiñcu ārjinṭsu. [Skt.] v. a. To acquire or accumulate, to gain, make money. గడించు, సంపాదించు. ఆర్జన or ఆర్జనము ārjana. n. Acquisition, gain, accumulation. గడన, ద్రవ్యార్జన the acquisition of wealth. ఆర్జకుడు ārjakuḍu. n. He who acquires or procures. గడించువాడు. ఆర్జితము ārjitamu. adj. Acquired, gained. కష్టార్జితమైన earned by toil.

(p. 351) gaḍana or గణన gaḍana. [Tel. from గడించు.] n. Earnings సంపాదనము. Esteem, regard. ఎన్నిక. Praise స్తోత్రము. అతడెవరిని గడనచేయడు he cares for nobody. అతనిగడన యేమాత్రముంటుంది how much is his income or profit? గడనపడతి a prostitute.

(p. 699) paḍayu or పడచు paḍayu. [Tel.] v. a. To obtain, gain. acquire, enjoy, possess. పొందు. To get, సంపాదించు. To beget బిడ్డను) కను 'పుత్రుల్ పడసి.' M. 1. ii. 150. 'ధర్మంబులమీకు బడయంగరానిదేమి యునులేదు.' Vish. ii. 192. See పడవు.

(p. 708) pani pani. [Tel.] n. Work, a task. కర్మము. Business, employment, వ్యాపారము. Workmenship, శిల్పము. ఈ కట్టడమునందు మంచిపని చేసియున్నారు there is good workmanship in this building. An affair, act, matter. Service, utility, purpose, object, intention, design. ప్రయోజనము. An order, duty, నియోగము. పనిమీద ఉన్నాడు he is busy. మంచిపని very well, well, good. మంచిపనిచేసినావు you did well or right. అతని పనిచూస్తున్నాను I am engaged in his service: I am acting for him. అతనిపని తీర్చినారు they settled his business, or they killed him. ఇక్కడ నీకేమిపని what business have you here? This word is sometimes omitted in translating; as in నీపనిపట్టిస్తాను I will punish you. ఇంతపనికి నన్నేల వెంటబెట్టుకొనివచ్చినావు why have you brought me for such a trifle or pretence? పనికిమాలి (or) పనిచెడి కూర్చున్నాడు he is sitting idle. వారు వ్యాధిచేత పనిచెడిరి they became infirm through illness. వానితో విరోధము పనికిరాదు he will not stand quarrelling. దాన్ని సంపాదించడము ఎంతపని it is no great matter to get it. నాపని చెరిపినారు they spoiled my work. పనిచెరువుకథలు idle stories. పనికి వచ్చే useful. పనికివచ్చే పిల్లకాయ a promising boy. పనికిరాని or పనికిమాలి useless. అక్కడికి నీవు ఏపనిమీద పోయినావు useless. అక్కడికి నీవు ఏపనిమీద పోయినావు about what business did you go there? నీపనిని నీవు చూచుకొనుము mind your own business. అక్కడికి పోవలసినపనిలేదు there is no need of going there. ఇప్పట్లో వానిపని యిట్లు ఉన్నది he is now in this state. అట్లు చెప్ప పని లేదు there is no need of saying so. పనిగొను pani-gonu. v. a. To undertake a work, to engage in a business. పూనుకొను. To employ, నియోగించు. 'పనిగొనవుతెలియగ బరికించి చూచిన.' Vēma. పనితనము pani-ta-namu. n. Workmanship, elegance. పనితనముగల ఒక మంచము a handsome bed. పనితొడవులు pani-toḍarulu. n. Worked or embossed jewels. పనిపడు or పనివడు pani-paḍu. v. n. To busy oneself with. to engage in, పూనుకొను. To concern oneself with, అక్కరపడు. పనివడి or పనిపడి pani-paḍi. adv. Intentionally. కావలెనని, ప్రయత్నపూర్వకముగా. 'పరులను పనిపడి దూషించెనేని పాపము వచ్చున్.' V. P. iv. 249. పనివాటులు jobs, work. పనిముట్టు or పనిమటము pani-muṭṭu. n. An instrument, tool, impelement. కొరముట్టు, ఉపకరణము. 'పనిమటములుగొంచు పయనమైరండు.' Pal. 314. పనివంచు, పని పంచు or పనిగొను pani-vanṭsu. v. a. To command. నియోగించు. పనివాడు pani-vāḍu. n. A servant: a good workman. పనివిను pani-vinu. v. n. To obtain permission, to take leave. To proceed, to go or come. 'దేవర కీర్తి వెక్కసంబుగ జెప్పవిని చూడగోరి, పనివిని నేను మాభాగ్యంబుకతన.' H.D.i. 847.

[Skt.] (In composition,) with, together with సకుటుంబముగా together with one's family. సగుణము having (or endowed with) properties or qualities. సజాతీయము of the same tribe, of the same species. సటీక accompanied with a commentary. సదియుడు one who is kind or good. స పత్రము having wings, రెక్కలుగల. సమర్మకముగా in full detail, circumstantially, with all the particulars, minutely, దాచకుండా. సమూలము together with the root, having a root, entire, వేరుతోకూడా, యావత్తు. వారు సమూలముగా నాశమైనారు they are ruined, root and branch. సమేలంపు derisory, satirical. Pref. 87. సవిస్తారముగా at full length, extensively, with all the particulars, completely, to the full, వివరముగా. సవినయముగా respectfully. సవినయుడై modestly. సహిరణ్యోదకపూర్వకముగా entirely; (lit. with money and water) - a phrase used in making gifts. సహృదయుడు a good hearted man. సహేతుకము reasonable, well grounded. కారణముతోగూడిన. సహేతుకముగా with the reason or the grounds, కారణసహితముగా. సాకూతము significant, అభిప్రాయసహితమైన. సాకూతస్మితము a wanton glance. A. iv. 41. సానుకూలము favour or kindness, success, ఉపకారము. ఆ పని వానికి సానుకూలమైన తరువాత when he succeeded in that affair. అది సానుకూలముకాక పోయినది it did not succeed. సానుకూలము favourable, kind, ఉపకారమైన. సానుకూలమైన మాట favourable word. సానుకూలముగా favourably, kindly, ఉపకారముగా. సాపత్న్యము the condition of a co-wife, the state of being or having a rival wife, సపత్నీభావము, సవతితనము. 'నీకనుపమసాపత్న్య సంపాదనంబు.' A. ii. 24. 'సాపత్న్యమునను గాకసైరింపగలదెయేకడపపత్నీ.' N. iii. 122. సాపత్న్యుడు an enemy, శత్రువు; the son of a co-wife. సుపత్నీపుత్రుడు. సాపరాధి a culprit, offender, sinner, he who is guilty, నేరస్థుడు. సావకాశము leisure, spare time, an interval, తీరిక, వ్యవధానము. సావధానముగా carefully, diligently, attentively, with due heed, జాగ్రతతో.

(p. 1272) saṅgrahamu san-grahamu. [Skt.] n. Seizing, grasping, obtaining, receiving, earning, acquisition, స్వీకారము, స్వీకరించడము, సంపాదించడము. Collecting, amassing, కూడబెట్టడము. పోగుచేయడము. A compilation, abridgment, compendium, సంక్షీప్తగ్రంథము. One verse says కర్తవ్యం ధర్మసంగ్రహం. adj. Short, brief. సంక్షేపమైన. సంగ్రహించు san-grahinṭsu. v. a. To seize, grasp, snatch, obtain, acquire, earn, get, సంపాదించు. To abridge, compile, summarize, సంక్షేపించు, సంగ్రహించుకొని వెళ్లు to walk away with anything. లంకించుకొనిపోవు.

(p. 1273) sañcitamu sanchitamu. [Skt.] adj. Gathered, amassed, accumulated, collected. సంపాదించబడిన, ఆర్జింపబడిన, కూడబెట్టబడిన. 'పూర్వజన్మసంచితములైన దోషములు.' (B. iii. 1001.) the sins contracted in a former birth. సంచిక sanchika. n. A section or part of a book. A few palm leaves or sheets of paper taken out of a volume. ఒక గ్రంథములోనుండి యెత్తికట్టిన కొన్ని పత్రములు. A tract, చేర్చికట్టిన కొన్ని తాటాకులు, లేక కాగితములు. A volume of Magazine or Journal.

(p. 1275) santariñcu san-tarinṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To equalise, సరిపరుచు. To earn, get, acquire, సంపాదించు, గడించు. To cause to acquire, కలిగించు. To write, వ్రాయు, రచించు. To protect, support, rear, భరించు, సంరక్షించు. 'చక్కదనమెల్లముల్లెగాసంతరించి.' H. i. 254. ఆమె నన్ను సాకి సంతరించినది she brought me up and took care of me.

(p. 1279) sampādanamu sam-pādanamu. [Skt.] n. Acquisition, earning, getting, acquiring. అర్జనము, గడించుట, సంపాదించుట. సంపాదించు sampā-dinṭsu. (or vulgarly సంపాదించు) v. a. To procure, acquire, get, earn. గడించు, ఆర్జించు. సంపాదకుడు sampā-dakuḍu. n. One who earns, or acquires, సంపాదించువాడు. సంపాదితము sampā-ditamu. adj. That which is earned or acquired. సంపాద్యము sampādyamu. n. That which is fit to be earned, గడింపదగిన. Also, (colloquially) getting, acquiring, earning. సంపాసారి sampā-sāri. n. A merchant, వైశ్యుడు. 'ద్వి కోటికిబడగెత్తి కోరువస్తువులు, పాటించియొసగు సంపాసారులార.' హరిశ్చ. ii.

(p. 1282) sambhṛtamu sam-bhṛitamu. [Skt.] adj. Well supported. చక్కగా భరింపబడిన Gained, got, సంపాదింపబడిన. Possessed of. Filled, full, నిండింపబడిన. 'సహస్ర బాహుండు ఆత్మీయదోస్తంభ సంభృతయగు నీవిశ్వంభర.' A. iv. 337. సంభృతి sam-bhṛiti. n. The act of supporting well. చక్కగా భరించుట.

(p. 1375) svayamu svayamu. [Skt.] adj. One's own, స్వకీయమైన. స్వయముగా svayamu-gā. adv. Of one's own self or accord, spontaneously, in person. తానే, తనకుతానే, స్వేచ్ఛగా. ఆయన స్వయముగా వచ్చిరి he came in person. స్వయముగా ఆడే యంత్రము an automaton or self-moving machine. స్వయంకృతము svayam-kṛitamu. adj. Self-done, self-formed. తనకుతానే చేసుకొన్న. స్వయంకృతానర్థము harm brought upon oneself. స్వయంకృతాపరాధము a sin committed voluntarily. స్వయంకృషి svayam-kṛishi. n. Personal effort, own labour, self-culture. స్వప్రయత్నము, తానే పడెడిపాటు. స్వయంకృషిచేత సంపాదింపబడిన సొమ్ము property which is acquired by personal labour. అతని స్వయంకృషి కింద నుండు భూమి lands the cultivation of which he kept in his own hands. స్వయంపాకము svayam-pākamu. n. Rice, &c. given to a guest for him to cook and eat. ఒకనికొక పూటకయ్యేటట్టు ఇచ్చే పప్పుబియ్యము మొదలైనవి. స్వయంపాకమిచ్చు to give rice, &c., to another to be cooked by himself and eaten. ఒక స్వయంపాకము ఇప్పించు to give rice, &c., to a man for one meal. Cooking, particularly if performed with one's own hand: cooking in general, తానేవండుకొనడము, వంట. నేటి స్వయంపాక మెవరిది who has cooked to-day? who has given (you) this day's food? అంతామనసులో స్వయంపాకము చేస్తున్నాడు he keeps his thoughts to himself. స్వయంపాకి svayam-pāki. n. One who cooks for himself. తనకుతానే వంట చేసికొనువాడు. స్వయంభువు svayam-bhuvu. adj. Self existent, self formed, self produced. తనకుతానే పుట్టిన, వుట్టి నది పుట్టినట్టుగా ఉండే. స్వయంభూరవ a rough diamond. స్వయంభూలింగము a natural image, a store uncarved by man. n. The Self-existent One. The Creator, దేవుడు. స్వయంవరము svayam-varamu. n. Choice of a husband by oneself; the public choice of a husband by a princess. తానే మగనిని కోరుకొనడము, స్వయంవరోత్సవము a day appointed for the selection of a husband by a princess out of an assembly of suitors. స్వయంవరము చాటించు to proclaim a Swayamvara. స్వయంవ్యక్తము svayam-vyaktamu. adj. Self formed. స్వయంభువైన. స్వయంవ్యక్తమూర్తి a self formed image.
