(p. 128) āśramamu āṣramamu. [Skt.] n. Abode, cell, hermitage, retreat (equivalent to a Living, rectory or see). State, stage, period or time of life from a religious point of view. There are four such stages, viz, 1. బ్రహ్మచర్యము bachelorhood or studentship. 2. గార్హస్థ్యము house-holdership or being head of a family. 3. వానప్రస్థము being an anchorite. 4. సన్యాసము being a recluse. ఆశ్రమధర్మము the duties peculiar to each stage of life. ఆశ్రమస్వీకారము āṣrama-svīkāramu. n. Embracing the ascetic condition: bidding farewell to the world.

(p. 376) gudi gudi. [Tel.] n. A bunch or cluster. గుత్తి. A staff. A string of dried fish, leaves, &c. సరము. మచ్చుల గుది a bunch or set of anything as samples. గాజులగుదికి రోకలి బూనినట్లు a bunch of glass bracelets do not require a rice-pounder to break them. గుదికాలు gudi-kālu. n. The heel. మడిమె (plu. గుదికాళ్లు). గుదికాళ్లనరము తెగగొట్టుట to hamstring. గుదికర్ర gudi-karra. n. A clog suspended from the neck of a beast to prevent it from straying. గుదికొను gudi-konu. v. a. To excel. అతిశయించు, చెలరేగు. To become close or thick దట్టమగు. To fall down with a thud. మాటవలె కూలబడు. 'గుదికొనివెన్నాడు కుసుమపుంజముతోడ.' Ila. i. 10. 'హృదయముపదిలంబైతే, గుదికొను సన్యాసమునకు కొమ్ములుగలవా.' Vema. iii. 197.

(p. 1296) sanyasiñcu sangasinṭsu. v. a. To renounce the passions or the world. కామ్యకర్మములను విడుచు. To take the vows of an ascetic, to become a monk. To bid farewell to the world, ఆశ్రమస్వీకారముచేయు, కాషాయములు ధరించు. సన్యాసము sanyāsamu. n. The ascetic state or condition, monachism, asceticism, Abandonment, relinquishment. ఆశ్రమస్వీకారము, చాలించుకొనడము, మానుకొనడము. అస్త్రసన్యాసము laying aside weapons, renouncing the use of arms. Vaija. ii. 134. సన్యాసి sanyāsi. n. A monk, ascetic, hermit. సన్యసించినవాడు.
