(p. 21) akṣatalu akshatalu. [Skt.] vulgarly అక్షింతలు n.plu. (lit. unbroken grains.) Grains of raw rice, made yellow with saffron. The red mark worn by some Hindus on the forehead formed of saffron and slaked lime. పసుపురాచిన బియ్యము, పేలాలు. నొసటను పెట్టుకోవడమునకై పసుపు సున్నము కలిపిన బొట్టు.

(p. 149) ukku ukku. [Tel.] n. Steel. Strength, courage, pride, vigour, potency. అయస్సారము, బలము, శౌర్యము. Steadiness. స్థైర్యము. తెలగ ఉక్కు. A very tough sort of steel. R. v. 197. ఉక్కు తీగె ukku-tīge. n. Steel wire. ఉక్కుతునక or ఉక్కుముక్క ukku-tunaka. n. A bit of steel, a brave, sharp or active man. ఉక్కు ముఖి ukku-mukhi. n. The crimson crested barbet, or coppersmith bird, Xantholaema haemaxtocephala. (F.B.I.) ఉక్కుసున్నము ukku-sunnamu. n. Ashes of calcined iron, scoriæ calx. ఉక్కడగించు or ఉక్కడచు ukkaḍaginṭsu. v. a. To crush one's pride, to humble: to dishearten. ఉక్కడగు ukkaḍagu. (ఉక్కు+అడగు) v. To sink or faint. To be disheartened. ఉక్కరి ukk-ari. (ఉక్కు+అరి) A man, a hero. శూరుడు, ధీరుడు. ఉక్కరు ukk-āru. (ఉక్కు+అరు) v. n. To ebb (as strength), to be exhausted, to faint. To lose one's vigour. ఉక్కుచెడు. To die. చచ్చు. ఉక్కరి having lost vigor. సామర్థ్యము లేకపోయి. ఉక్కుమడగు ukku-maḍagu. v. i. To lose vigor. To die. ఉక్కమడచు to kill.

(p. 274) kāramu kāramu. [Tel.] n. Pungency, hotness of taste: sauce. Salt earth used in bleaching cloth చవుడు. Tinder: being cloth dipped in saltpetre. A caudle for infants. Caustic, lunar caustic. కారము చచ్చినపొగాకు tobacco devoid of flavour. కారము చచ్చినసున్నము lime devoid of heat. కారముగలసున్నము sharp lime. adj. Pungent, hot to the taste. A particle added to a letter in naming it. Thus కకారము the letter K. An affix denoting, making or doing, thus: ఝణఝణత్కారము resounding, making a ringing sound.

(p. 289) kuṇḍalamu kunḍalamu. [Skt.] n. An earring. చెవిపోగు, కుండలి kunḍali. n. One who has earrings. పోగులు గలవాడు. A snake or serpent పాము. A mystic phrase for the spinal marrow. A circular dance. కుండలాకారనృత్యము. (భార. విరా. i.) కుండలిస్థానము or కుండలిని or కుండలిశక్తి the pineal gland. సుఘమ్న (Vasu. Pref. 71.) Heyne says, a name of the తెల్ల ఉప్పిడి చెట్టు. కుండలినాడి. కుండలించుkunḍal-inṭsu. v. t. To put or mark a cipher round anything సున్నచుట్టు. (చంద్రా. i.) కుండలీ కరణము kunḍali-karaṇamu. n. To cancel by drawing a circle round an erroneous line. Giving or making a cipher సున్నచుట్టుట.

(p. 382) gulla gulla. [Tel.] n. A shell: a husk: a cowry shell. కప్పచిప్ప. A white pustule బొబ్బ. Anything hollow బోలు. Cotton in the pod. The hull of ship. (Vizag.) గుల్లకాసు a farthing: (lit. a shell) or a penny. గుల్లసున్నము shell lime. చింతగుల్ల tamarinds in the shell or husk. గుల్లాగుట్ర trash, rubbish, gewgaws. adj. Hollow, empty. బోలు. గుల్లకర్ర a tube. ఇల్లు గుల్లచేసినాడు or తుడిచిపెట్టినాడు he emptied or plundered the house. గుల్లపుటిక a small basket. గుల్లపొగాకు tobacco that is immature and worthless, గుల్లపడు to be disgraced అవమానపడు. గుల్లపరుచు to empty, to scorn, to disgrace. HD. ii. 168. గుల్లకాడు an empty handed man ఏమిన్ని లేనివాడు.

(p. 449) cuṭṭu ṭsuṭṭu. [Tel.] v. a. To go about, to go round. To roll, wrap up, to wind up, to encircle or clasp in an embrace. To hem in, surround, to overtake (as sin does). To draw a circle. To make small ciphers, thus: సున్నచుట్టు, క్రారావడిచుట్టు to write o or ; పాగాచుట్టు to tie a turban. చుట్టుకొను or చుట్టుపారు to surround, hem in, roll up. To turn, to go round. దోవచుట్టుకొని వేళ్లుచున్నది here the road makes a sweep. చుట్టు n. A turn, a round, a circuit, a circumference. A turn or bout: a time. A toe ring, worn by women కాలియుంగరము, తలచుట్టు a turban. గోరుచుట్టు a whitlow. ఎన్నిచుట్లు చెప్పేది how often am I to tell you? చుట్టు adj. & adv. Around, round about, out of the direct way. చుట్టలుగు, చుట్టువాలు or చుట్టుకైదువు ṭsuṭṭ-alugu. (చుట్టు+అలుగు.) n. The Discus of Vishnu చక్రమనే ఆయుధము. R. iii. 42. చుట్టిల్లు a round hut without posts or pillars: చుట్టివచ్చు to go round anything; ప్రదక్షిణముచేయు. Smooth. చెక్కసున్నము smooth plaster, (So called because polished with a piece of wood.) చెక్కకొణుదురు or చెక్కపిణుజు chekka-koṇuduru. n. A wood louse, a tick. చెక్కచెట్టు chekka-cheṭṭu. n. A kind of tree from the wood of which a red dye is obtained. చెక్కపేలు chekka-pēlu. n. Cattle lice or ticks. చెక్కరంగు chekka-rangu. n. Wood colour; brown or yellowish.

(p. 525) tālcu or తాలుచు tālṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To take. To hold. To receive, to bear, to wear (as a dress, ornament, or weapon.) ధరించు. To take or assume (a shape, &c.) To hold (as a liquid in the mouth.) To slake (lime). To twist (thread by the spindle.) కారమునుపేను. See తాలుపుబిళ్ల. To fan or winnow (grain in a basket.) గర్భముతాల్చు to conceive (a child.) తాల్చనిసున్నము unslaked lime.

(p. 582) daruzu or దరు౛ు daruḍzu. [H.] n. A cornice, a frieze, a joining, a seam in carpentry or masonry గోడకొననుగాని స్తంభపు కొననుగాని చేసియుండే చిత్రపుపని. దురు౛ుసున్నము plaster made of lime.

(p. 642) nāzūku nāḍzūku. [H.] adj. Delicate, fine, tender. సున్నితమైన, నాణెమైన.

(p. 650) niguru or నివురు niguru. [Tel.] n. Embers. The ashes covering live coal. కట్టెనిప్పుమీది భస్మము. నివురుగప్పిన నిప్పు a fire hidden under ashes. సున్నపునిగురు lime for making plaster.

(p. 668) nīru , నిగురు or నివురు nīru. [Tel.] n. Ashes, ashes lying over live coal. భస్మము, బూడిద. 'రమణీయుడై యుప్పురంబులమాటి నిమిషంబులో శూలినీరు గావించె.' DB. 135 line 3. నీరుగాచేయు to burn to ashes. సున్నపు నీరు finely powdered lime, భస్మము. సత్యంబునీరుగావించి he made light of his oath. నీరుకారు nīru-kāru. n. Tongs for coals, పటకారు.

(p. 700) paḍiga, paḍigamu or పడికము paḍiga. [Tel.] n. A vessel, పాత్రము. A spittoon. తమ్మపడిగ or తమ్మపడిగము a spittoon used in chewing betel. 'పడిగంబుపెట్టించి పాదముల్ గడిగి.' BD. iii. 236. 'త్రివిధోదకములొక్కొక్క పడిగంబులోగూర్చి' Charitra. i. 3089 'సున్నపుకాయమెచ్చులతమ్మపడిగ.' Sāranga. iii. 141.
