(p. 38) aḍḍamu or అడ్డమైన aḍḍamu. [Tel.] adj. Cross. నన్ను అడ్డమైన మాటలు ఆడినాడు he reviled me. అడ్డమైనకూళ్లు any food that comes to the hand. నాకు అడ్డమైనపని పెట్టుతున్నాడు he employs me in anything that comes to hand. వాడు అడ్డదోవలు తొక్కుచున్నాడు he goes the wrong way to work. అడ్డకట్ట aḍḍa-kaṭṭa. [Tel.] n. A dam or bank, an embankment. సేతువు, చేలకు నీళ్లు నిలిచేటందుకు కట్టిన గట్టు. అడ్డకత్తి aḍḍakatti. A broad sword. పట్టిసము. అడ్డకమ్మి aḍḍa-kammi. A cross piece, the cross selvage in cloth. అడ్డకర్ర aḍḍa-karra. A cross-piece of timber: an obstacle: a bar. విఘూతము. నా పనికి అడ్డకర్రలు వేయుచున్నాడు he throws difficulties in my way. See అడ్డము. అడ్డగోడ addagōḍa a cross-wall. అడ్డచాపు aḍḍa-tṣāpu. A cross beam. అడ్డవాసము. అడ్డతల aḍḍa-tala. A narrow projecting head: having a narrow fore head. నిడుపు తల. అడ్డదూలము aḍḍa-dūlamu. A cross beam. అడ్డదోవ aḍḍa-dōva. A crossway. అడ్డపలక aḍḍa-palaka. A cross plank. అడ్డపట్టె. aḍḍa-paṭṭe. A thick board drawn by two oxen used for smoothing a ploughed field after the grain is sown. మడిసమముచేసే మాను. అడ్డుపడు aḍḍa-paḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To interpose, to help; to obstruct, impede. విఘూతమగు, వారించు. నా పనికి అడ్డుపడ్డాడు he threw obstacles in my way. భార్యను కొట్టబోతే కొడుకు అడ్డుపడినాడు as he was going to strike his wife his son interposed. నేనడ్డపడకపోతే వాండ్లు వత్తురు had I not interposed they would have died. అడ్డపాటు aḍḍa-pāṭu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, obstruction. అడ్డి, విఘ్నము. అడ్డబాస aḍḍa-bāsa. n. A nose jewel. బులాకి. అడ్డబొట్టు aḍḍa-boṭṭu. A cross mark worn by the Hindus on their fore-head. అడ్డమాను aḍḍa-mānu. A cross bar. వాడు అడ్డవాట్లు వేస్తున్నాడు he throws impediments in the way.

(p. 354) gatamu gatamu. [Skt.] adj. Lost, gone, past, over, late. పోయిన, గతదినము the last day. గతఫలము loss of advantage. గతజీవితులయి who had lost their lives. గతకాలము the past time. గతకులము a family which is extinct. గతజలసేతుబంధనము banks for a stream that has run dry, a proverb for pains taken too late (shutting the stable door after the horse is stolen.) గతాహంకారులై he who has lost his wits. గతాహంకారులై they being stripped of their pride. గతము n. Passing away. పోక. గతపడు. gata-paḍu. v. n. To pass away. కడచు. To die చచ్చు గతపడ్డ dead. గతవడగ్రస్తవద్యము or ముక్తవదగ్రస్తవద్యము gata-pada-grasta-padyamu. n. A poetical conceit, Capped lines wherein the last word of each line is repeated at the beginning of the next.

(p. 759) pisāḷamu pisāḷamu. [Tel.] n. Brilliance, వికాసము, ప్రకాశము. A jest, పరిహాసము. Spreading, వ్యాపనము. A trick, దొంగయెత్తు. పిసాళి pisāḷi. adj. Brilliant, తళతళమనే, ప్రకాశముగల. Spreading, వ్యాపనముగల. Artful, దొంగయెత్తుగల. 'సకియ క్రొందళుకు బిసాళి చూపులకోవు, ముగుదనిద్దవు ముద్దుమోముగోము.' Rasica. iii. 133. An artful or cunning person, కుత్సితపురుషుడు, స్త్రీయును. 'మొరసుమోటు పిసాళినామూఢుడు.' ABA. iii. 11. పిసాళించు pisāḷ-inṭsu. v. n. To be brilliant, to flash, to be displayed. తళతళలాడు, వెలుగు, విజృంభించు, మించు. To be fragrant, పరిమళించు. To spread, వ్యాపించు. To jest, పరిహాసములాడు. To pretend, దొంగయెత్తువేయు. 'సీ సద్యోవినిర్భిన్న సారంగనాభికా హృతమై పిసాళించుమృగమదంబు.' Swa. ii. 59. 'ద్వి కొడుకుకు విలపించుకొనుచు నీవున్న, నెడపకెవ్వరు సేతురీపనులెల్ల, చాలులేలెమ్ము పిసాళింపకనుచు.' HD. ii. 1906. టీ పిసాళింపకు, మాయచేయకు. v. a. To ridicule, పరిహసించు.

(p. 819) pōyu pōyu. [Tel.] v. n. To arise, to be born or produced, పుట్టు, చెమటపోయు to perspire, చెమటపట్టు. చీముపోయు to suppurate as a boil, చీముపట్టు. వానికి యింకా అమ్మవారు పోయలేదు he has never had the small-pox. v. a. To pour, as water. To cast in metal or found. To fit on, as a halter as ఉరిపోయు. To place an arrow in a bow (బాణమును) సంధించు or కూర్చు. అమ్మవారు నిన్న సేతులుపోసినది the small pox came to a head yesterday. కట్టపోసినారు they built a bank. నారుపోయు to sow seed, which is afterwards to be transplanted. ఆకుపోయు to transplant rice. గోడపెట్టి ముదురుపోసినాడు he built a wall and placed a cope upon it. తలబ్రాలు పోసినది she poured the blessed grain upon their heads (in marriage.) ఉచ్చపోయు to make water, to pass urine. వడపోయు or వడకట్టు to strain rice, &c. ఉరిపోయు to cast a noose. వృథాగా నా ఉసురుపోసుకొన్నాడు he has injured me without any cause. పురుడుపోసేనిమిత్తము దానిని పుట్టింటికి తీసుకొని వచ్చినారు they brought her home to lie in. వాడు దానిని నోట్లో పోసుకొన్నాడు he poured it into his mouth. ఆ చిన్నది వానిని నీళ్లు పోస్తున్నది the girl is bathing him. ఆమె చెట్లకు నీళ్లుపోస్తున్నది she is watering the trees. బిచ్చమెత్తి పొట్టపోసు కొంటున్నాడు he fills his belly by begging. ఆసుపోసినది she placed the thread in readiness for weaving. పోయించు pōyinṭsu. v. a. To cause to cast or pour; to erect. గట్టుపోయించు to raise a bank. విగ్రహములు పోయించిరి they had some statues cast.

(p. 983) mikkili mikkili. [Tel.] n. Much, abundance, greatness. అధికము. విస్తారము. 'మిక్కిలియైన కీర్తి.' భార. అర. vi. adj. Great, much, vast, అధికము. Excellent, fine, best, శ్రేష్ఠము. మిక్కిలికన్ను an extra eye, అధికమైనకన్ను. 'క మిక్కిలిచేతులును వాని మిక్కిలికన్నున్.' భార. సభా. ii. 'సీ అఖిలచతుష్పదములకు ధేనువు మిక్కిలి మానవులకు బ్రాహ్మణుండు వరిష్ఠుండు, పక్షులందు శ్యేనమధికంబు.' భార. అశ్వ. ii. మిక్కిలికంటి వేల్పు Siva. మిక్కిలి దిక్కు the sky. ఆకశము. 'రెక్కలువిదల్చి లావులు ముక్కుకొనం దువ్వి మోదమున కంధరనమ్మిక్కిలి దిక్కుగనుంగొని కొక్కొర్కోయనుచు కోళ్లు కూయగదొడగెన్.' S. i. 173. మిక్కిలి ఉప్పు too much salt. adv. Very, greatly, much, vastly, extremely, excessively, too much, more than. మిక్కిలి అవాస్తవమైన utterly false. మిక్కిలి రహస్యముగా very secretly. గోడలు మిక్కిలి పడిపోయినవి the walls are ruined. మిక్కిలివాడు mikkili-vāḍu. n. a great person, అధికుడు. 'పాండవుల్ మిక్కిలివారు.' భార. ద్రోణ. v. మిక్కిలు mikkilu. v. n. To exceed, excel, మీరు. అతిశయించు. 'క తలదలతో దాటించిన దలమీరున్ గాలుగాలదాటించిన మి క్కిలుగాలుగేలుసేతుల గులికినదనచేయిమీదగున్ వ్రేటుగొనన్' ఉ. హరి. vi. Also, to come from left to right, అప్రదక్షిణముగావచ్చు.
