(p. 13) andagimpu andagimpu. [Tel.] n. Adorning, ornamenting, beauty. సొగసు.

(p. 76) ayi (past p|| of అగు to become.) Having become, turned into. మాకు అయి నిలిచినాడు he stood like a post., i.e., he has transfixed with surprise &c. దొంగ అయి తిరుగుతున్నాడు he has turned thief. పోకిరి అయిపోయినాడు he has become a wicked fellow. అయిన (past rel. p|| of అగు to become.) Accomplished, becoming, agreeable, suitable. అయినపని a work that is accomplished, a becoming art. అయిన పెండ్లాము a good wife. అయినమందు a suitable medicine. అయినమనిషి a useful or proper man. అయినవాండ్లు friends, relations. See కాని. అయిన is also used to change nouns into adjectives as సొగసైన పిల్ల, ఆశ్చర్యమైన కార్యము a wonderful deed. For other uses, see under ఐన.

(p. 120) ārazamu ārazamu. [Tel.] adj. Elegant, pretty, bland, fine. ఇంపైన. n. Prettiness, grace, elegance. ఇంపు, సొగసు. ఆరజంబుగా ārajambu-gā. adv. Elegantly, gracefully.

(p. 203) aina aina. [Tel. for అయిన. relative p of అగు] p. p. 1. Being, existing. One who or which is or has become. యజమానుడైన రామయ్య Ramaya who was (his) master. Becoming, suitable, fit; అయిన గుణములు proper principles. అయిన దినము a fit day. అయిన వడ్డి the interest that accumulated. వాకయిన మనిషి my friend. As a conjunction it is thus used ఐన or అయినా or అయినను but though it were so, yet, వాడయినా వీడయినా be it that man or this, either one or the other. It is added to interrogatives as ఎక్కడ. &c., and it gives a strong emphasis as ఎక్కడనైనా wheresoever. ఎవ్వడయినా whosoever. ఎప్పుడయినా whenever. రెండుకోసులయినా at least two miles. ఎవ్వడైననేమి never mind who it was. It turns nouns into adjectives as సొగసైన pretty, having elegance. Else-where it is translated who is (and is added to adjective nouns, thus) కవి అయిన భీమన the poet Bhīmana. విద్వాంసుడైన కవి a poet who is a man of learning. Thus also in the plural ధనికులైన వర్తకులు merchants who are rich. ఐనను or ఐనప్పటికిన్ని although. but, అందుకు అయిన క్రమము the price of that. నాకైనను even to me మేనల్లుడైన అంతఃకరణవల్ల through the affection arising from his being a nephew. ఐనట్టయితే See ఐతే. మీది అయినట్టయితే should it be yours. ఐనప్పటికిన్ని conj. When it is so, even then, nevertheless, still, yet.

(p. 269) kāḍu or గాడు kāḍu. [Tel. for వాడు.] (an affix.) He, that man. సొగసుకాడు a pretty fellow. వేషగాడు a masker. Added to names, it denotes meanness or low station in life, thus: అబ్బిగాడు, సుబ్బిగాడు, as in English, a fellow named so and so. It is also part of the names of some animals as ఇబ్బందికాడు a leopard. బావురుగాడు a he cat. పసులుపోలిగాడు the bird called a drongo or kingcrow.

(p. 299) kuluku kuluku. [Tel.] v. n. To move gracefully. To put on pretty airs, or attitudinize. To play tricks. To bloom. To be melodious. శృంగారముగా కుదులు. పారావతంబకులికెడి పలుకులు the melodious notes of the dove. కులుకుపువ్వులు beautiful flowers. ఏమికులుకుతుంది how pretty she is! కరుణారసము కులుకుకన్నులు eyes beaming with kindness, or bright with affection. కులికిన pert, saucy. కులుకు v. a. To move, or shake. To rub over. ఫుయు. To pour or sprinkle పోయు, వేయు. n. Grace, elegance, charm, loveliness. Harmony in music, శృంగారచేష్ట, శృంగారపుకుదిలిక, ఒయ్యారము, విలాసము, కులుకులాడి a belle, a pretty woman ఒయ్యారకత్తె. కులుకు adj. Fine, pretty, graceful, Harmonious, melodious. సొగసైన.

Comely. handsome, pleasing, nice. పసందగు to become handsome. పసందుచేయు to make handsome, pretty or nice; to prefer or like. ఆయన దీనిని పసందుచేసినాడు he liked this. పసందుగా pasandu-gā. adv. Nicely, agreeably, fashionably.

(p. 800) poṅkamu pongkamu. [Tel.] n. Proportion, fitness, suitableness, neatness, grace, beauty, trimness, పొందిక, సొగసు. మాటల పొంకము elegance of speech. పొంకపడు pongka-padu. v. n. To be fit, to be well arranged, పొందికపడు. పొంకించు or పొంకపరుచు pongkinṭsu. To make fit or beautiful. పొంకముగా pōngkamu-gā. adv. (p. 816) pō pō. (The infinitive of పోవు) అతడు పోజూచి seeing that he was gone. పో pō. (Imperative of పోవు.) v. n. Go, పొమ్ము. In many places this is a mere expletive, as Go to. (in English). It denotes certainty or disregard, నిశ్చయమును లేక ఆనాదరమును తెలుపును. 'తెచ్చెదంబో వసుదేవమాను.' ఉ. హరి. v. పోక pōka. n. Going. పోవడము. Conduct, behaviour, నడవడి. పోకలు n. plu. Evil ways, wickedness. పోకరింతనములు Foolish wishes, or longings, ముద్దుకోరికలు. 'పల్పోకశృంగారములు.' (T. iii. 81.) very naughty pranks. పోకరిసొగసులు నీవుపోయినదే పోకా are you to be indulged in every thing? వారేమి అదేపోక పోయిరి I am surprised that they did not come back. పోక pōka. for పోవక(neg. p. of పోవు.) Without going. Also for పోకు, i.e., పోవద్దు don't go. (the final A being intensive.) పోకడ pō-kaḍa. n. Going, departure, going off. గమనము, గతి Behaviour, conduct, నడత, ప్రవర్తనము. Riddance. Ruin, నాశము. నెలదినాలుగా రాకడపోకడలేదు there has been no inter course between us for a month (literally going and coming.) పోకడపెట్టు pōkaḍa-peṭṭu. v. a. To drive away, to remove, పోగొట్టు. To sell, అమ్ము. విక్రయించు. దాన్ని ఎట్లైనను పోకడపెట్టు get rid of it in any way. పోకలాడి pōkal-āḍi. (పోకలు+ఆడి) n. A coquette, వగలాడి. 'క చూపట్ట గోమయంబున, జేపట్టొనరించి జడల జెక్కినలింగం, బాపోకలాడి కైకొని వేపికడన్నిలిపిభక్తివివశయు బోలెన్.' S. ii. 49. పోకలాడు pōkal-āḍu. v. n. To be coquettish, to flirt. పోకాడు pōkāḍu. (పోక+ఆడు.) v. n. To go, పోవు. To be done away with, to be destroyed, నశించు. పోకార్చు pōkārṭsu. v. a. To lose, పోగొట్టు, పోగొట్టుకొను. To destroy, ruin. 'రఘుకుమారుడరివర్గము పోకార్చి.' R. iii. 137. పోకాలు pōkālu. v. n. To go, as anger, sorrow, &c. పోవు. పోకరి pōkiri. n. A wicked man, a villain rogue, lewd fellow, blackguard, దుర్మార్గుడు adj. Naughty, wicked, mischievous, unprincipled. పోకరిమాట an obsence word. పోకిళ్లు pōkiḷḷu. n. plu. Idle wishes, fopperies, whims, freaks, whimsies. పోకిళ్లమారి a fop, an epicure.

(p. 833) prannana or ప్రన్నదనము prannand. [Tel.] n. Beauty. అందము. 'అధ్వరంబుకంటె నధికంబుతపము, తపమనంగమేని బ్రన్నదనము, నివురసేతగాద హింసయు సత్యవాక్యంబుదమముదయయుగాన.' M. XII. ii. 361. మేనిప్రన్నదనము శివురసేతగాదు, అనగా దేహముయొక్క అందమును నశింపచేయడముకాదు. adv. Beautifully, సొగసుగా. 'అపూర్వపు బంతము వింటి వేయనన్, బ్రన్నననవ్వియాకొలది బంతములెవ్వరు జేయరుర్విలో.' G. xi. 60. ప్రన్నని or ప్రన్న prannani. adj. Beautiful, handsome, సొగసైన. 'భాసురచంద్రబింబమున బ్రన్ననివెన్నెల కందునుంబలెన్.' Ellana. iii. 190. ప్రన్నని వెన్నెల అనగా సొగసైనవెన్నెల.
