(p. 88) alavaḍu ala-vaḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To be accustomed, be practised in. To be mastered, అభ్యాసమగు, పరిచయమగు, సాధ్యమగు. 'బ్రహ్మలోక పర్యతంబున్ గల యవివరించి చూచి తినలవడదిది నీవెతెలుపు హంపబడౌజ.' Affection, love, friendship, friendly or fond regard, acquaintance. ప్రణయకలహము lover's quarrels, discord between man and wife. స్నేహము, ప్రేమము, మంచిమాటలాడడము, వినయము. ప్రణయించు praṇayinṭsu. v. a. To kindle, to make a fire burn. ప్రజ్వలింపజేయు. 'అలరగసోమయాజులరుణాస్తమయంబుల నుల్లసిల్లనగ్నుల ప్రణయింపనూదగను. గంపునచొప్పుడు ధూమాజాలముల్ కలయగ బర్వెనోయన.' Bmj. ii.23. ప్రణయిని praṇayini. n. (p. 1053) yajanamu yajanamu. [Skt. from యజ్ to sacrifice.] n. An offering or sacrifice. యజ్ఞము. Vish. v. 363. యజించు yajinṭsu. v. n. To perform or offer a sacrifice. యజ్ఞముచేయు. v. a. To worship, అర్చించు. యజమానుడు or యజమాని yaja-mānuḍu. n. One who offers a sacrifice, a sacrificer, యజ్ఞకర్త. A lord, a master, ప్రభువు. An owner or proprietor, సొంతగాడు. A husband, గృహస్థుడు. An employer of priests at a sacrifice; the person who institutes its performance and pays the expense, ఋత్విగాదినియంతృకయజ్ఞకర్త గ్రామయజమానులు the headmen of a village. యజమానురాలు yaja-mānu-r-ālu. n. A wife; a lady, good woman, or mistress of a family. యజమానత్వము or యాజమాన్యము yaja-mānatvamu. n. Mastership, lordship, dominion, ఆధిపత్యము. యజుర్వేదము or యజుస్సు yajur-vēdamu. n. The name of one of the four Vedas. యజ్ఞము yagnyamu. n. The rite of offering a sacrifice; a sacrifice or offering. The sacrifice in which a goat is smothered and the inside fat is dressed and eaten by Brahmins. (The person who celebrates this sacrifice assumes the honorary title of సోమయాజులు.) యజ్ఞసూత్రము or యజ్ఞోసవీతము yagnya-sūtramu. n. The sacred thread, worn by the three principal classes of the Hindus. ౛ందెము. యజ్వ or యజ్వుడు yajva. n. A sacrificer in due form, agreeably to the Vedas. విధ్యుక్తముగా యజ్ఞముచేయువాడు.

(p. 1356) soḍḍu soḍḍu. [from Skt. శౌణ్ఠ్యమ్.] n. A slap on the head of a loser in a game, applied with both the winner's hands. (Metaphorically,) a defect, fault, imputation, ఆటలో నోడినవాని తలమీదవేయు దెబ్బ, లోపము, న్యునత, కొరత, సొడ్డువేయు to give such a slap with the open hand, to dupe or to make a fool of. 'సోమయాజినిబట్టి సొడ్లవ్రేసెనురంభ.' Vema. 903. 'నిఖిలదేవతలకు నెమకెవేమనసొడ్డు.' ib. 2139. అతడు చేసిన పనిలో నొక సొడ్డుగలదా is there any defect in the work he has done? సొడ్లమర or చొట్లమర soḍla-mara. n. The fish called the Angel shark, Squatina. మత్స్యవిశేషము.

The heavenly Ganges, ఆకాశగంగ. సోమపీథి, సోమపీతి or సోమవుడు sōma-pīthi. n. One who drinks the juice of the Asclepias. యజ్ఞములో సోమరసముత్రాగువాడు. సోమయాజి sōma-yāji. n. A sacrificer, యజ్ఞము చేసినవాడు.

A little bestowed upon the wife of a Somayaji (సోమయాజి), యజ్వపత్ని, సోమయాజులభార్య Seeసోమలత. 'చేసినకూరిమి సోమిదమ్మ సౌఖ్యావహయై భజింప.' Swa. i. 7.
