State, condition, situation: trouble, difficulty, atrait. దశ, సంకటము. వాడు నిండా దురవస్థలోనున్నాడు he is in a wretched state. అవస్థాత్రయము, అనగా జాగ్రత్స్వప్నసుషుప్తులు the three states: viz., waking, sleeping and dreaming. అవస్థాచతుష్టయము, అనగా బాల్యావస్థ the period of childhood. యావనావస్థ the period of youth. వార్ధకావస్థ old age. మరణావస్థ the agony of death.

Dab. 240. వర్ధించు vardhinṭsu. v. a. To cause to thrive, to nourish. వర్ధిల్లజేయు, పెంచు. వర్ధిష్ణువు vardhishṇuvu. adj. Prosperous, flourishing. వృద్ధిపొందుచున్న. 'స్వస్వప్రవర్ధిష్ణుధరణీరుహ.' (p. 1168) vijayamu vi-jayamu. [Skt.] n. A great conquest, a complete triumph, a great victory. మిక్కిలి గెలుపు. This word is used in the titles of several poems, and can be translated 'Adventures' or 'Tale,' as తారాశశాంకవిజయము the adventures of Tāra and Sasanka, similar to those of Stella and the Genius. విజయ vi-jaya. n. The name of a Telugu year. విజయదశమి vijaya-daṣami. n. The tenth day of the month Asvayuja, being the day after the festival to Sarasvati, when all books, arms and instruments of trade are worshipped. విజయముచేయు or విజయంజేయు vi-jayamu-chēyu. v. n. To come, వచ్చు. To proceed; deign or condescend to come or go. వేంచేయు, విచ్చేయు, వచ్చు, పోవు. ఈవేళ మాయింటికి విజయము చేస్తారా will you do me the honor to come to my house? will you favour me with your company. 'దేవదేవుండువిజయంబు చేసిన యీస్వప్నంబు.' A. pref. 21. 'విద్విషత్సంహారంబునకు విజయంబు చేయుమనుటయు.' lb. iv. 111. విజయస్తంభము vijaya-stambhimu. n. A pillar of victory. జయించి నాటినస్తంభము. 'పొట్టునురివిజయస్తంభోపలోట్టంకిత.' A. iv. 345. విజయి vi-jayi. adj. Victorious, triumphant. జయమును పొందిన, జయముగల. n. A conqueror. జయించినవాడు. విజయాభవ vijayī-bhava. interj. Hail to so and so, here's to the health of so and so. Hallelujah. సర్వోత్కృష్టుడవుగా నుండును. విజయుడు vi-jayudu. n. A name of Arjuna. అర్జునుడు. విజయవిలాసము a poem in his honour. Jaya and Vijaya are the names of the two porters at the gate of the palace of Vishnu, విష్నువుయొక్క ద్వారపాలకులు.

A lion seat, a seat or throne supported by sculptured lions, a throne, నృపాసనము, భద్రాసనము, రాజపీఠము. సింహాసవస్థుడు simh-āsana-sthuḍu. n. One who is enthroned. పట్టాభిషిక్తుడు. సింహి simhi. n. A lioness. ఆడుసింహము. సింహి or సింహిక. n. The mother of Rāhu. రాహువుయొక్క తల్లి.

(p. 1374) svapnamu svapnamu. [Skt.] n. A dream, vision, dreaming, కల. Sleep, నిద్ర. జాగ్రత్స్వప్నసుషుప్తులు waking, sleep and deep sleep. స్వప్నమగు to dream. రాత్రి నాకొక స్వప్నమైనది I had a dream last night. స్వప్నదోషము pollutio nocturna. స్వప్నావస్థ the condition of being asleep.

(p. 1375) svayamu svayamu. [Skt.] adj. One's own, స్వకీయమైన. స్వయముగా svayamu-gā. adv. Of one's own self or accord, spontaneously, in person. తానే, తనకుతానే, స్వేచ్ఛగా. ఆయన స్వయముగా వచ్చిరి he came in person. స్వయముగా ఆడే యంత్రము an automaton or self-moving machine. స్వయంకృతము svayam-kṛitamu. adj. Self-done, self-formed. తనకుతానే చేసుకొన్న. స్వయంకృతానర్థము harm brought upon oneself. స్వయంకృతాపరాధము a sin committed voluntarily. స్వయంకృషి svayam-kṛishi. n. Cooking, particularly if performed with one's own hand: cooking in general, తానేవండుకొనడము, వంట. నేటి స్వయంపాక మెవరిది who has cooked to-day? who has given (you) this day's food? అంతామనసులో స్వయంపాకము చేస్తున్నాడు he keeps his thoughts to himself. స్వయంపాకి svayam-pāki. n. One who cooks for himself. తనకుతానే వంట చేసికొనువాడు. స్వయంభువు svayam-bhuvu. adj. Self existent, self formed, self produced. తనకుతానే పుట్టిన, వుట్టి నది పుట్టినట్టుగా ఉండే. స్వయంభూరవ a rough diamond. స్వయంభూలింగము a natural image, a store uncarved by man. n. The Self-existent One. The Creator, దేవుడు. స్వయంవరము svayam-varamu. n.
