(p. 372) guṇḍu gunḍu. [Tel.] n. A round stone. A cannon ball or bullet. ఫిరంగిగుండు. A lump. A weight (or stone) for scales. A hill పర్వతము. గుండుగుర్రము a stallion or stone horse. వెండిగుండు name of a kind of dog. భైరవుడు, 'కత్తెరసంపంగి, వెండిగుండు' Manu. iv. 42. A polishing stone used by masons in plastering. కసిలెగుండు the iron hoop that forms the lip of a leathern bucket. adj. Round, globular, spherical. గుండుకొట్టు gunḍu-koṭṭu. n. To smoke the drug called bhang. gunḍu-kōvi. n. A small cannon, a swivel. పెట్లదిమ్మ. See గుండుగిలు gunḍu-gilu. v. n. To move in a circle. చుట్టుపడు. గుండుగుత్త gunḍu-gutta. n. An all-round settlement, i.e., a lease which covers all rights and privileges. సమస్త స్వాతంత్య్రముతో ఇచ్చే గుత్త, బిల్మక్తా. గుండుకొను or గుండుగూడుకొను gunḍu-konu. v. n. To unite, to make one common effort. To surround చుట్టుకొను. 'అప్పుడందరును హాహాకారంబులన్ గుండుగూడుకొని సవరింపంగ.' G. ix. 65. గుండుములుగాడు gunḍu-mulupu-gāḍu. The Nightjar or the goatsucker, గుండువేయు gunḍu-vēyu. v. n. To fire a gun: to die. గుండు వేసి కాల్చు to fire a ball at. గుండుసూది gunḍu-sūdi. n. A pin. గుండ్రాయి gunḍ-rāyi. n. A round stone or stone pestle. గుండ్లదండ or గుండ్లపేరు gunḍla-danḍa. n. A necklace of beads.

(p. 741) pāyakaṭṭu paya-kaṭṭu. [H.] n. A tract of land newly reclaimed from a jungle. A group of small villages that are connected with another important village. పాయకారీ paya-kārī. n. A temporary or non-resident cultivator, a cultivator without hereditary interest in the soil. A sub-renter or under tenant, a tenant at will. A man who cultivates land lying in another village. పరస్థలపురయితు, భాగ ప్రోకారము భూస్వాతంత్య్రములేని రయితు.

(p. 1040) mora mora. [Tel.] n. A cry, scream lamentation, complaint, plaint. A declaration, statement. అత్తనాదము. Also, another form of మోర. (q. v.) మొరపెట్టు mora-peṭṭu. v. n. To scream, cry, yell, lament, wail, cry aloud, complain. అర్తధ్వనిచేయు, అరుచు, పడిన అన్యాయమునుగూర్చి చెప్పు. మొరపెట్టుకొను to howl, make a complaint, complain, తనకు గలిగిన అన్యాయమును గూర్చి చెప్పుకొను. స్త్రీలకు స్వాతంత్య్రములేదని శాస్త్రములు మొరపెట్టుచుండగా while the Sastras declare that women have no independence.

(p. 1167) viccacalaviḍi viṭsṭsala-viḍi. [Tel. విచ్చలు+విడి.] n. Independence, freedom, స్వాతంత్య్రము. adj. Independent, free, స్వతంత్రము. విచ్చలవిడి or విచ్చలవిడిగా viṭsṭsala-viḍi. adv. At pleasure, at will, freely, independently. యథేచ్ఛముగా, స్వతంత్రముగా. 'ఇన్నాళ్లరీతిగా దింతనుండేమియువిచ్చల విడిగామెలగరాదు.' NH. v. 17. విచ్చ విచ్చలు viṭsṭsa-viṭsṭsalu. (anuk.) n. Dispersion on all sides; scattering about. యథాయథలు. adv. Pell-mell, dispersedly. యథాయథలుగా.

(p. 1202) vīsamu vīsamu. [Tel.] n. The fraction called one sixteenth, the sixteenth part of anything. A grain of gold equal in weight to one grain of rice. వడ్లగింజయెత్తుబంగారము. వీసబడి or వీసుబడి vīsa-baḍi. (వీసము+బడి.) n. Cess or tax, levied on a town and then divided among several persons each of whom pays his share, a certain tax on the profits of a trade. గ్రామమునందు భాగప్రకారముకలిగిన భూస్వాతంత్య్రము. A ryotwari settlement. A measure of land equal nearly to two acres. వీసర or వీసరము vīsara. (వీసర+అర.) n. Want, defect, deficiency, diminution. కొరత, వెలితి. వీసరపడు or వీసరపోవు vīsara-paḍu. v. n. To be lacking, or deficient, వెలితిపడు. To fail, be fruitless. వ్యర్థమగు, కించిద్భంగమగు. 'కవికానకచేసినపుణ్యపాపముల్ విసరపోవు.' Dasarathi Ṣatakam.

(p. 1377) svātantyramu svā-tantryamu. [Skt. from స్వతంత్రము.] n. Independence, freedom, liberty. స్వతంత్రభావము, స్వతంత్రత, ఆత్మవశత్వము, స్వేచ్ఛాధీనత, విచ్చలవిడిగా నుండడము, నస్త్రీ స్వాతంత్య్రమర్హతి no woman is sui juris; no woman can act independently.

(p. 1377) svāti svāti. [Skt.] n. Arcturus, the fifteenth lunar asterism. చిత్తకు అవలలినక్షత్రము, పదిహేనో నక్షత్రము. స్వాతికర్తి the fifteenth counstellation in which the sun happens to be for thirteen days in the month of October or November. స్వాతి చిప్పలు the oysters that gaps expecting drops of rain in Swāti. తమ రాక కొరకు స్వాతిచిప్పలవలె నోరు తెరచుకొని యున్నాము we look out with thirsty expectation for your arrival. స్వాతికొంగలు a kind of cranes or storks which emigrate in this month. స్వాతివాన genial showers supposed to impregnate oysters with pearls. 'స్వాతిబకంబులవీకను.' H. iii. 52. 'స్వాతి కృష్టిగురి యజనించి.' H. ii. 171.

(p. 1378) svāmi svāmi. [Skt. from స్వమ్.] n. A lord, master, sovereign, owner, proprietor, husband, spiritual guide or preceptor. 'My lord, Sir.' A Brahmin is usually thus addressed by a junior or by a Sudra. ప్రభువు, కర్త, పతి, గురువు, దేవుడు, దేవత. స్వామిపరాకు behold! be attentive. భాగస్వామి a share holder, పాలివాడు. స్వామిత svāmi-ta. n. Mastership, lordship, ownership. ప్రభుత్వము, యాజమాన్యము. స్వామిత్వము svāmitvamu. n. Mastership, lordship, ownership, right, title. ప్రభూత్వము, కర్తృత్వము, అధికారము, బాధ్యత. అతని స్వామిత్వము పోయినది he has lost his ownership. స్వామిద్రోహము svāmi-drōhamu. n.
