(p. 128) āśramamu āṣramamu. [Skt.] n. Abode, cell, hermitage, retreat (equivalent to a Living, rectory or see). State, stage, period or time of life from a religious point of view. There are four such stages, viz, 1. బ్రహ్మచర్యము bachelorhood or studentship. 2. గార్హస్థ్యము house-holdership or being head of a family. 3. వానప్రస్థము being an anchorite. 4. సన్యాసము being a recluse. ఆశ్రమధర్మము the duties peculiar to each stage of life. ఆశ్రమస్వీకారము āṣrama-svīkāramu. n. Embracing the ascetic condition: bidding farewell to the world.

(p. 540) turīyamu turīyamu. [Skt.] adj. Fourth, చతుర్థము. ఆయన తురీయాశ్రమ స్వీకారము చేసినారు he entered upon the fourth estate, i.e., the hermit life.

(p. 579) datamu dattamu. [Skt. cf. Lat. datus.] adj. Given, presented. ఇయ్యబడిన. Adopted, reared. స్వయందత్తుడు a son self-given, one who being without natural parents or being deserted by them, offers himself for adoption. దత్తత, దత్తత్వము, దత్తు or దత్తువు dattata. n. Adoption. స్వీకారము. దత్తకుడు dattakuḍu. n. An adopted son. దత్తపుత్రుడు. దత్తి datti. n. A gift. ఈవ, దానము. 'దత్తినెతక్క.' A. ii. 38. దత్తుడు a man who is given as a hostage,. కుదువ ఉంచబడినవాడు. దత్తుతీసుకొను to adopt a son.

(p. 1272) saṅgrahamu san-grahamu. [Skt.] n. Seizing, grasping, obtaining, receiving, earning, acquisition, స్వీకారము, స్వీకరించడము, సంపాదించడము. Collecting, amassing, కూడబెట్టడము. పోగుచేయడము. A compilation, abridgment, compendium, సంక్షీప్తగ్రంథము. One verse says కర్తవ్యం ధర్మసంగ్రహం. adj. Short, brief. సంక్షేపమైన. సంగ్రహించు san-grahinṭsu. v. a. To seize, grasp, snatch, obtain, acquire, earn, get, సంపాదించు. To abridge, compile, summarize, సంక్షేపించు, సంగ్రహించుకొని వెళ్లు to walk away with anything. లంకించుకొనిపోవు.

(p. 1296) sanyasiñcu sangasinṭsu. v. a. To renounce the passions or the world. కామ్యకర్మములను విడుచు. To take the vows of an ascetic, to become a monk. To bid farewell to the world, ఆశ్రమస్వీకారముచేయు, కాషాయములు ధరించు. సన్యాసము sanyāsamu. n. The ascetic state or condition, monachism, asceticism, Abandonment, relinquishment. ఆశ్రమస్వీకారము, చాలించుకొనడము, మానుకొనడము. అస్త్రసన్యాసము laying aside weapons, renouncing the use of arms. Vaija. ii. 134. సన్యాసి sanyāsi. n. A monk, ascetic, hermit. సన్యసించినవాడు.

(p. 1319) sāku sāku. [Tel.] n. A pretence, pretext excuse, palliation. నెపము, వ్యాజము. 'లోకేశునికిట్టి పాకుకలదె.' Balarama i. 196. v. a. To bring up, foster, rear, educate, train up. పెంచు, పోషించు, కాపాడు, విద్యాబుద్ధులు నేర్పు. సాకుకొను sāku-konu. v. a. To adopt. స్వీకారముచేసికొను. పెంచుకొను. సాకుడు sākuḍu. n. Rearing, training adj. Reared, trained, adopted, tame. సాకుడుకొడుకు an adopted son. సాకుడు చిలుక a pet or tame parrot.

(p. 1352) sēkariñcu sēkarinṭsu. [from Skt. స్వీకరించు.] v. a. To prepare, collect. సిద్ధముచేయు. కూర్చు. సంగ్రహించు. To recover. తెప్పిరిల్లు. సేకరము sēkaramu. n. Collecting, preparing anything. సంగ్రహించుట.

(p. 1379) svīkariñcu svī-karintṣu. [Skt.] v. a. To adopt, embrace, acknowledge, receive. అంగీకరించు, గ్రహించు, పుచ్చుకొను. స్వీకారము svī-kāramu. n. Adopting, appropriating. Acknowledgment, assent, comment. Entering or embracing a new condition of life, ఆశ్రమము, as becoming a married man after being a bachelor. అంగీకరించడము, అంగీకారము, సమ్మతించడము, గ్రహించడము, దత్తత. 'ప్రణిపాతపూజనస్వీకారసంభ్రమోత్సేకమునను.' P. i. 716. అది పుత్రస్వీకారము చేసికొన్న తరువాత after she has adopted a son. ఆయన ప్రసాదస్వీకారము చేసికొన్నాడు he embraced a monkish life. స్వీకృతము svī-kṛitamu. adj. Admitted, acknowledged, confessed, promised, accepted, adopted. అంగీకరింపబడ్డ, ప్రతిగృహీతమైన, పెంచుకోబడ్డ. స్వీకృతపుత్రుడు an adopted son. స్వీకృతి svī-kṛiti. n. Adoption, acknowledgement, అంగీకరించడము, సమ్మతించడము, గ్రహించడము.

(p. 1379) svīyamu svīyamu. [Skt.] adj. Own, one's own, relating or belonging to one's self. ఆత్మీయమైన. ఆత్మసంబంధమైన, తన. స్వీయ svīya. n. A virtous woman, a wife who is entirely devoted to her husband. పతియందు మాత్రము అనురాగముగలనాయిక, పతివ్రత, సాధ్వి.
