(p. 27) accanagaṇḍlu, accanagāyalu or అచ్చనగుండ్లు aṭṭsana-gunḍlu. [Tel. singular అచ్చనకల్లు;] n. Chuck-stones. Pebbles which are tossed up, and caught on the back of the hand, in a game played by girls. 'ముదురువెన్నెల గాయ ముత్యాలదిన్నెపై పైడియచ్చనగండ్లు పారవైచి.' Yayati. iii. 149. అచ్చనలాడు or అచ్చనగాయలాడు to toss up balls and catch them on the back of the hand. నలాడండననియె నమ్మునితోడన్.' Jai. Bhar. i. 62.

(p. 59) anni anni. [Tel.] (Plu. adj. Pron.) So many, all. సమస్తము. అన్నినాళ్లు so many days. అన్ని anni. [Tel.] n. All (Loc. అన్నిట or అన్నిటిలో in all, in all things. Dative అన్నిటికి to all, on the whole.) వాడు అన్నిటా సమర్థుడు he is clever in every thing. అన్నిటికి నేను ఉన్నాను I will be answerable for all. అన్నిటికి తమ్మునే నమ్మి యున్నాను you are my all in all. అన్నిటికి అన్ని చెప్పుచున్నాడు he gives an excuse for every thing.

(p. 75) ammanabōṇṭlu ammana-bōnṭlu. [Tel.] n. Plu Cunning jades. దొంగతొత్తులు. 'బంకెతల్ రంకెతల్ పచ్చిరక్కెసలు, రొమ్మునకుంపట్లు రోత ప్రామిళ్లు, బ్రమ్మెతకత్తెలు నమ్మనబోంట్లు.' Charitra P. 460 line 7.

(p. 82) arupukonu arupu-konu. [Tel.] v. a. To digest; to enjoy the possession of జీర్ణముచేసికొను, దక్కించుకొను. వారిసొమ్మును అన్యాయముగా అపహరించినాడు గాని దానిని వాడు అరుపుకోలేడు he has got the wealth wrongfully and will not be able to enjoy it.

(p. 85) arpaṇamu arpaṇamu. [Skt.] n. An offering, dedication, delivering up. Placing. ప్రదానము, ఉంచడము. అంకురార్పణము the offering of buds to a god. అర్పించు arpinṭsu. v. a. To offer, dedicate. ఇచ్చు. తనసొమ్మునంతా పరులకు అర్పించు కూర్చున్నాడు he gave up all his goods and became a beggar. అర్పితము arpitamu. [Skt.] adj. Offered, dedicated. ఇవ్వబడ్డ. కంఠార్పితభూషణము an ornament placed on the neck. ఆ గ్రామము సముద్రార్పితము అయినది the village became the prey of the sea. తన తండ్రికి అర్పితముగా కొంత భూమిని దానము చేసినాడు he gave some land as a gift in memory of his father.

(p. 240) kanipeṭṭu kani-peṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To wait, expect. ఎదురుచూచు. To watch, guard, tend. To find out, discover. మిమ్మును కనిపెట్టుకొని ఉండేవారు your dependants.

(p. 248) kammunīḷlu kammu-nīḷḷu. [Tel.] n. Water with which cloths after bleaching are tinged bluish.

(p. 337) krōdamu krōḍamu. [Skt.] n. The middle of the trunk. మధ్యభాగము. The lap ఒడి, తొడ. The breast రొమ్ము. A pig పంది. 'నాభి పంకరుహక్రోడమిళింద బృందమెదురెక్కన్.' Amuk. i. 6. క్రోడపత్రము krōḍa-patramu. n. A supplement, codicil, postscript, leaf inserted. క్రోడాడు krōḍ-āḍu. v. t. To butt with horns. కొమ్ములతో పొడుచు. To dig up the earth with the snout ముట్టెతో నేలకెల్లగించు. To sprinkle dust on దుమ్మునెత్తి పైకి చల్లు, కోరాడు. క్రోడీకరణము krōḍi-karaṇamu. n. The act of putting things together into one. ఒకటిగా చేర్చు. Abridgment సంగ్రహము. Sifting; careful investigation; comparing, balancing facts. గోరించుట. క్రోడీకరించు krōḍī-karinṭsu. v. a. To abridge or shorten. To sift, prove, criticise. To take a general view of a subject.

(p. 581) dammu dammu. [Tel.] n. Mud, mire, slush. అడుసు, బురద, పంకము. Moisture, wetness. Breath. Wet ploughing. దమ్మునాగలి a plough used to work wet land. మడినీటుకట్టి దున్నేది. దమ్ముపలక. దమ్ముకొను dammu-konu. v. n. To become miry, or wet. అడుసగు, తడియు. దమ్ముకొన్న dammu-konna. adj. Moist. Empty, worthless. దమ్ముచేయు dammu-chēyu. v. n. To plough a field while wet. దమ్ముచేసినపొలము a field ploughed while wet, ఊడ్చుటకు సిద్ధము చేసినపొలము. దమ్ముపట్టు to hold the breath.

(p. 604) dūbaradiṇḍi dū-bara-dinḍi. [Tel. దూయు+పర+తిండి.] n. A prodigal, a spendthrift. సొమ్మును వృధాగా కర్చుచేసి తినువాడు.

(p. 837) pralladamu pralladamu. [Tel.] n. Harshness of speech, పారుష్యము. Pride, arrogance; bragging, a vain or wicked word, nonsense. కొవ్వు, గర్వము, పనికిమాలిన కూత, దుర్భాషణము. A wicked act, దుష్కృత్యము. 'ఈక్షమావల్లభుండెంతయుం ద్రుళ్లు నంబ్రల్లదంబాడినన్.' Parij. iii. 71. 'తే వెలదిజూదంబుపానంబు వేట. పలుకు, ప్రల్లందంబునుదండంబు పరుసదనము, సొమ్మునిష్ప్రయోజనముగవమ్ముసేత, యనెడుసప్తవ్యసనములంజనదుతగుల.' M. V. ii. 42.

(p. 951) manikitamu mani-kitamu. [Tel.] n. Grief, affliction, sorrow. వ్యాకులము, దుఃఖము, విచారము. 'క తనయాగము విఘ్నముచే, సినకీడునవజ్రియింత చేసెను మీగో, ధనములుమిమ్మును గా చచెద, మనికితములు మానుడనుచు మదిగృపమెరయన్.' Vish. vii. 260. మనికితపడు manikita-paḍu. v. n. To be sorry, to grieve, దుఃఖపడు. మనికితపాటు manikita-pāṭu. n. The act of being sorrowful, దుఃఖపడుట.

(p. 956) maradalu or మరందలు maradalu. [Tel.] n. A wife's younger sister; also a younger brother's wife, పెండ్లాముచెల్లెలు, తమ్ముని భార్య. 'నీమరందలీకొమ్మ.' T. i. v. 49.

(p. 996) mukhamu mukhamu. [Skt.] n. The mouth, నోరు. The face, countenance, మొగము. The commencement, ఆరంభము. The front, ముందటిభాగము. The external appearance, the look of the face, ముఖవిలాసము. నిశాముఖము nightfall, evening. సేనాముఖము the front of the army. నఖముఖములు the points of the nails. ముఖమిచ్చు to indulge. అతడు వారితో ముఖమిచ్చి మాట్లాడలేదు he did not speak with them as a friend. 'బల్దూరంబైన శ్మశానవాటి ముఖమాలోకింపగన్.' Bilh. iii. 25. అధోముఖుడుగానుండినాడు he was hanging with his head down. ఆ దివిటీని అధోముఖముగాపట్టినాడు he held the torch with the flaming end downwards. 'అనుఘకథాముఖంబున హితాహిత బోధమొనర్తురింపుగా.' Mand. i. 8. టీ కాథా ముఖంబున by means of a story, కథచేతను అర్ధముఖము the profile or half face. తమరు రామునిముఖముచూచి నన్ను రక్షింపవలసినది I pray that for the sake of Rama you will relieve me. పడమటిముఖముగా towards the west. పడమటిముఖముగా నుండే యిల్లు a house facing the west. ఆడదానిముఖమెరుగనివాడు a youth that as yet knows not the face of a woman, i.e., entirely chaste. అందరును ఏకముఖముగా నుండలేదుగనుక as they were not unanimous or were not all of one mind. 'బాణకృపాణముఖాస్త్ర శస్త్రములు,' M. VII. ii. 275; arrows, swords, and other weapons. ముఖముమాడ్చుకొనినాడు he looked sulky or angry. వానికి ముఖము చచ్చినది he turned pale, he looked blank or ashamed. ముఖదాక్షిణ్యము complaisance. వానిముఖములో ఈగ ఆడలేదు he was all in a pucker. ఆ రూకలను వాని ముఖముమిద పారవేయుము fling the money at his face. అది వానికి ముఖపాఠముగానున్నది he has got it by heart. వాడు ముఖప్రితి మాటలాడును he talks plausibly. ముఖమెరుగనివాడు a stranger. ముఖమెరుగనిదేశము a strange land, a land where one has no acquaintance. ముఖవాసికలవాడు he is a winning man. వానికి ముఖవశ్యముకద్దు he is a very taking man. ముఖము తప్పించుకొనిపోయినాడు he has absconded or disappeared. ముఖస్తుతి flattery. ముఖస్తుతిచేయు to flatter. వాని కాశ్లోకము ముఖస్థముగానున్నది he knows the verse by heart. ముఖద్వారము mukhadvāramu. n. The mouth. నోరు. నదీముఖద్వారము the mouth of a river. ముఖపట్ట or మొగపట్టా mukha-paṭṭa. n. The headstall of a horse, గుర్రము యొక్క ముఖమునకువేసే తోలుపట్టా. ముఖమంటపము mukha-manṭapamu. n. The porch or pillared entrance of a Hindu temple. మందరిమండపము. ముఖవచనము mukha-vachanamu. n. Verbal communication, word of mouth. నోటిమాట. ముఖవస్త్రము mukha-vastramu. n. A veil. A pall, ప్రేతవస్త్రము. ముఖశాల or మొగసాల mukha-sāla. n. A hall at the entrance of a house, an antechamber, తల వాకిటిచావడి. ముఖాంతరముగా mukh-āntaramu-gā. adv. By means of, through, ద్వారా. నా తమ్ముని ముఖాంతరముగా పంపించినాను I sent it by my brother. ముఖాముఖి mukhā-mukhi. adv. Face to face. ఎదురెదురుగా. 'వినుముఖాముఖిబల్కెద.' T. iii. 84. ముఖుడు mukhudu. n. A word used in compounds, thus అధోముఖుడై hanging with his face down. సుముఖుడుగా మాట్లాడినాడు he spoke graciously. దుర్ముఖుడైయుండినాడు he was cross. పరాఙ్ముఖుడైయుండెను he turned his face away.

(p. 1021) meṭṭa or మిట్ట meṭṭa. [Tel.] n. Rising ground, high lying land, uplands. A hill, a rock. ఉన్నతభూమి, మెరక, పర్వతము, దిబ్బ. The foot, పాదము. Dry land as opposed to మడి or మాగాణి land artificially irrigated. సారంగమెట్ట the hill at Rajahmundry on which sārangadhara was slain. 'ఇట్టలంబుగమీద బుట్టలు పెరిగిమెట్టల క్రియనున్న యిట్టిసన్మునులు.' BD. iii. 2141. మెట్టజీలుగు meṭṭa-jīlugu. n. A species of జీలుగు. (q. v.) మెట్టతామర meṭṭa-tāmara. n. The plant called Cassia alata, or Senna alata. Rox. ii. 349. మెట్టపంట a dry crop, a crop raised on land which is solely dependent on rain. మెట్టమడుగు a lake among hills, or on rising ground, దొన, కొండమడుగు. మెట్టమార్గము the upper road, మెరకమార్గము. A land route (in opposition to సముద్రమార్గము 'by water.') మెట్టనాలుపిట్ట or మెట్టవాల్పిట్ట meṭṭa-vālu-piṭṭa. n. A fowl, కోడి.
