(p. 37) aḍucu aḍuṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To close, to shut. మూసివేయు. అందులో నాలుగు వాకిళ్లు అడిచియున్నవి four of the gates are closed, ఆ గుడ్లను ఈ పెట్టెలో అడుచు (here అడుచు is for అణచు) cram the clothes into the box. Also, v. a. To beat, strike, thrash. To destroy కొట్టు, వళింపచేయు. 'ఎమ్ములిరియుగ శిలతో నడిచిన.' P. i. 729. అడుచుకొను aḍuṭsukonu. v. To contract, choke, be stopped. ఆ కాలవలో ఇసుక అడుచుకొన్నది the channel is choked with sand. వాని రొమ్మడుచుకొన్నది he has a contraction of the chest. గొంతు అడుచుకొన్నది, మాట్లాడకూడలేదు his throat is hoarse, he cannot speak.

(p. 158) uddi uddi. [Tel.] n. A match, an equal, a rival. Rivalry, equality. A bank or dam with a channel on it, into which water is pumped to be conveyed to higher lands. The name of a certain tree. Bignonia spathacea. Rox. iii. 103. జత, సమానము. ఉద్దిచూపు to rival. ఉద్దులు equals సమానులు. ఉద్దులుద్దులుగా పోరాడి fighting hand to hand. ఉద్ది uddi. adj. Paired, couple, side by side. ఉద్దించు uddinṭsu. v. a. To pair, match, couple. జతపరచు, పోలు, ఉద్దికాడు uddikāḍu. n. A match, an equal. A friend ౛తకాడు, చెలికాడు.

(p. 169) uruzu uruzu. [Tel.] n. A sluice or water channel.

(p. 278) kāluva or కాలవ kāluva. [Tel. cf. Tam. కాలువాయి or వాయికాల్.] n. A canal, a channel; a stream. కాలము పోయి ఉన్నాడు or కాలవతట్టుకు పోయినాడు he is gone to the necessary, or to relieve himself.

(p. 304) kūrukonu or కూరుకొనిపోవు kūru-konu. [Tel.] v. n. To enter. చొచ్చు. To sink, to be choked. To stuff. క్రుక్కు. ఇసుకలో నా కాలు కూరుకొనిపోయినది my foot sank in the sand. కాలువ యిసుకచేత కూరుకొనిపోయినది the channel is choked with sand.

(p. 393) gōra gōra. [Tel.] n. A shopkeeper. S. i. 98. A drill plough. గోరలుతోలు to plough with a drill plough in preparation for making a channel from a river.

(p. 408) ciṅka or చింకు chinka. [Tel.] n. A small water channel in a field. చిన్నకాలువ. Empty or pithless grain not quite ripe when reaped, and which therefore sticks to the pods and requires to be twice thrashed. చింకబెల్లించి or పెద్దకిరీటిగాడు chinka-bellinchi. n. The Indian Grey shrike, Lanius lahtora. చింకబాతు chinka-bātu. n. The Grey Pelican,Pelicanus philippensis (F.B.I.) చింకలిక్క chinkalikka. n. A red faced monkey.

(p. 518) talli talli. [Tel. తాయి+లు. The final ల్లి is the sign of the honorific plural and is doubled on account of the preceding long vowel having been shortened. √ త = she who brings (into existence) or who brings food, &c., cf. తండ్రి.] n. A mother. కన్నతల్లి one's own mother, as opposed to సవతితల్లి a stepmother. In affectionate address తల్లీ 'my dear,' is used even to a daughter. adj. Maternal, parent. తల్లిపశువు the parent cow. తల్లియింటనున్నది she lives in her mother's home. Principal, great, chief, main. తల్లినర or తల్లియొర the parapet wall round a well. తల్లికాలవ the principal channel which supplies others. తల్లిగోడ the principal wall in a house. మీరే మాకు తల్లిదండ్రులు you are my father and mother, you are all in all to me. See under తలి. తల్లికొండ్ర talli-konḍra. The first furrow in ploughing మొదటి కొండ్ర. తల్లితల్లి talli-talli. n. A mother's mother, i.e., Lakshmi. తల్లినికనినతల్లి.
