(p. 249) karakara kara-kara. [Tel.] n. Sharpness. ఒరయుట. తీక్ష్ణము. A harsh, grating sound. షూర్యుడు కరకర ఉదయించినప్పుడు just as the sun was rising. కరకరమని వ్రాసినాడు he wrote so that the scratching of his pen could be heard. కరకరనమిలినాడు I could hear him chewing. నాకు కరకరమని ఆకలియైనది I felt very hungry.

(p. 406) carvaṇamu charvaṇamu. [Skt.] n. Chewing. నమలుట. చర్వితము charvitamu. adj. Chewed. చర్వితచర్వణము ruminating, chewing the cud: frequent recurrence to one topic. చర్వితచర్వణోదాహరణము an old example or story.

(p. 509) tamma tamma. [Tel.] n. A quid. The chewings of the betel leaf which are of a red colour. నమలబడిన తాంబూలము. తమ్మతసుకు or తమ్మతొట్టి tamma-tasuka. n. A spittoon, తమ్మపడిగము. తమ్మకర tamma-kara. n. The red spittle caused by తమలపాకు.

(p. 574) daṇṭu danṭu. [Tel.] n. A stalk of such plants as cholam. Pith. బెండ్లదంట్లు hay, sapless stalks. దంటునమలు to chew cholam stalks. దంట్లకిన్నెర a certain game among boys. అరిటిదంటు the pith of a plantain tree. దంటుకూర danṭu-kūra. n. A kind of gree vegetable the stalks of which are eaten.
