(p. 129) āsēdhamu āsēdhamu. [Skt.] n. Check, restraint. అడ్డగింత. Arrest: legal restraint; limitation of four kinds, viz.: కాలాసేధము limitation of time, స్ధానాసేధము confinement to a place, ప్రవాసాసేధము prohibition against removal or departure, కర్మాసేధము restriction from employment.

(p. 659) nirbandhamu nir-bandhamu. [Skt.] n. Force, violence. బలవంతము, బలాత్కారము, కదలమెదలగూడనికట్టు. నన్ను చేవ్రాలు చేయుమని నిర్భంధముచేసినారు they forced me to sign it. నిర్బంధపుకైదు close confinement. నిర్బంధించు, నిర్బంధముచేయు or నిర్బంధపెట్టు nir-bandhinṭsu. v. a. To force, press, to lay violent hands upon. To constrain or oppress: to persist in, or insist on.

(p. 771) puruḍu puruḍu. [Tel.] n. Parturition, child birth. Ceremonial uncleanness for ten days after the birth of a child, జాతాశాచము. పురుడుపుచ్చు to put away a woman's uncleanness, వురిటిల్లు or వురుటిల్లు the house wherein a birth has happened, ప్రసవగృహము. నెలవురుడు the lesser degree of uncleanness, extending from the 10th to the 30th day. పురిటి పురుగు a reptile, imagined to injure new born children. ఆమె పురుడుపోసినాను I got her through her confinement, I attended on her in her childbed. 'పురిటిజింకలు అనగా వేసి' S. i 176. పదిదినములైనా కాని జింకపిల్లలు. పురిటాలు, పురుటాలు or పురుటియాలు puriṭ-ālu. n. A woman in childbed. బాలెంతరాలు.

(p. 851) proddu or పొద్దు proddu. [Tel.] n. The sun, సూర్యుడు. Time, కాలము. A day, దినము. Half a day, పూట. The dawn, వేకువ౛ాము. The morning, ఉషఃకాలము. ప్రొద్దువాలిన తర్వాత after the sun began to decline, in the afternoon. పెద్దయుంబ్రొద్దు a long time. ప్రొద్దిటిపూట the morning time. ప్రొద్దుటెండ the morning sunlight. ప్రొద్దులు proddulu. n. plu. The days hear the time of the confinement of a woman, ప్రసవదినములు. ప్రొద్దులనెల the month during which a confinement takes place, ప్రసూతిమాసము. ప్రొద్దుకల్లు or ప్రొద్దురాయి proddu-kallu. n. Lit: the sun-stone, i.e., a focussing lens, సూర్యకాంతశిల. ప్రొద్దుగొడుకు, ప్రొద్దుపట్టి or ప్రొద్దుచూలి proddu-goḍuku. n. The son of the sun; an epithet applied to Yama, Sani, karṇa or Sugriva, యముడు, శని, కర్ణుడు, సుగ్రీవుడు. ప్రొద్దుతిరుగుడు proddu-tiruguḍu. n. The sun-flower, సూర్యమవర్తిని. ప్రొద్దుపుచ్చు proddu-puṭsṭsu. v. a. To pass the time, కాలక్షేపముచేయు. ప్రొద్దురిక్క proddu-rikka. n. A constellation called ఉత్తరఫల్లునీనక్షత్రము. ప్రొద్దురిక్క నెల proddu-rikka-nela. n. A name of the Telugu month called ఫాల్గుణమాసము.

(p. 859) bandi bandi. [from Skt. బంధము.] n. Imprisonment, confinement. చెర, కయిదుచేయడము, నిర్బంధము. That which is imprisoned, చెరబడ్డది. 'బావింపమనుమాడ బందిచిక్కితిమి.' (BD. ii. 800.) behold we have fallen into his hands. బంధికాడు bandi-kāḍu. n. A marauder, a high-way-man. బందిపోటుదొంగ. 'బందికాడైన పొరువులు బ్రతుకగనునె.' Swa. iii. 157. బందిగము bandi-gamu. n.
