(p. 109) āgu āgu. [Tel.] v. n. To stop, to stay, asbtain, refrain. To bear (as a cord does a weight.) To be confined, set aside, or reserved. ఆయింటను ఆగబడి యున్నదేవకి (B. X. 75.) Devaki who was kept in restraint. తల్లిదండ్రులులెని బాలురు ఆగ నీవు దిక్కు thou art the refuge of the helpless. పశువులకు ఆరినబీడు land set aside or reserved for pasture. ఇది లేనిది నాకు ఆగదు I cannot get on without this. నా నోటిలో ఆ మాట ఆగదు I cannot keep that word a secret. ఆగు, ఆగించు, ఆచు, ఆపు the causal of ఆగు: āgu. [Tel.] v. t. To stop, check, hinder. To keep, tend. To look to, superintend, guard, protect, preserve. To fold or gather as a flock. నోరాచి మాట్లాడిరి they spoke cautiously. చెయ్యి ఆపక (T. v. 22.) without intermission. నిద్ర ఆచుట to refrain from sleep, keep away drowsiness. రాత్రిళ్లు ఇక్కడ మందులు ఆచుకొని యుండేవారు they used to keep cattle here at nights.

(p. 261) kaḷa or కల kaḷa. [Skt.] n. A degree, or sub-division. భాగము. That which proceeds by degrees, as effect, virtue, potency, influence, inclination. A ray or light. Look or appearance. A phase of the moon, of which the Hindus reckon sixteen. The degree in which one night's moon-light differs from that of the next. ముప్పది కాష్ఠలకాలము. చంద్రునిలో పదునారవ భాగము. In Telugu Grammar, a word that does not end with an N sound. A note, as being a subdivision of music. The nerves or ticklish parts of the body. దీపముయొక్క కళ the brightness of lamp. అతని ముఖ కళ his air, the effect of his features. పిచ్చికళ a look of madness. క్రూరకళ an angry look. నిద్రకళ drowsiness. కళాస్థానములు the nerves. 'కళలు చెమ్మగిలన్.' (T. ii. 82.) her heart melted: it touched her to the quick. ఈ గాడ్పుకళలనన్నిటిని పీల్చుచున్నది this burning wind exhausts the spirits దేహకళావ్యత్యయము a morbid affection: an injured constituion. దానికళ బహు బాగా ఉన్నది She has a very pretty air. పెద్దదయ్యేటప్పటికి కళవచ్చినది She is growing very pretty. కళ [Tel.] n. A swoon. మూర్ఛ. A twig చెమ్మ.

(p. 954) mabbu mabbu. [Tel.] n. A cloud, మేఘము. Obscurity, darkness, dimness, laziness, dullness, heaviness, మాంద్యము, చీకటి. కనుమబ్బు dimness of sight. వాని చెవులకు మబ్బువచ్చెను his ears are dull of hearing. నిద్రమబ్బు drowsiness or heaviness. ఆ సంగతికి మబ్బు తాళము వేసినాడు he eluded or evaded the question. మబ్బుమందారముగానుండే దినాలు cloudy days. మబ్బురంగు a dark tint in colour, మేఘవర్ణము. మబ్బు కొను mabbu-konu. v. n. To become cloudy. To be intoxicated, మత్తిల్లు. మబ్బుత్రోవ mabbu-trōva. n. The sky, ఆకాశము. మబ్బుపెట్టు mabbu-peṭṭu. v. a. To delude, to evade, conceal. మబ్బుమేపరి mabbu-mēp-ari. n. The wind, వాయువు. మబ్బురవుతు mabbu-ravutu. n. An epithet of Indra. ఇంద్రుడు.

(p. 1032) maikamu or మయికము maikamu. [Tel.] n. Intoxication; insensibility, drowsiness. మత్తత, మత్తు.

(p. 1078) rikka rikka. [Tel.] n. A star. నక్షత్రము. A constellation, a lunar mansion. A peculiar noise made in driving cattle. పశువులను తోలునపుడు చేయు ధ్వని. A pustule, weal, blister. బొబ్బ. రిక్కించు rikkinṭsu. v. a. To prick up the ears, &c. నిక్కించు, నిక్కపొడుచు. 'బిగుపట్టెళ్లమరించి వేటకుభటుల్ వేర్వేర నంకించిముందుగబిల్వన్ మరియున్ బయల్ పసిగొనన్ దాటున్ దిశల్ నిక్కినీలిగికాల్ద్రవ్రు వెలుంగిడున్ చెవిగవల్ రిక్కించిమై బ్రాకుపొల్పుగడల్గొల్పుచు బోవుదిస్స మొలవేల్పున్ దత్తడున్ మొత్తమిన్.' R. ii. 19. రిక్కవెట్టు or రిక్కవిడు rikka-veṭṭu. v. n. To stretch the body through drowsiness. ఒళ్లువిరుచుకొను. 'కుక్కలబిల్చు చురిక్క వెర్టుచును, నెక్కొననొరగాలనిల్చుచుంజనుచు.' BD. iii. 2244. రిక్కు rikku. n. The noise made by waving a cane of whip, etc.
