(p. 5) aṅgamu angamu. [Skt.] n. The body, a limb, member, part, division or branch. అంగవంచకము = ఉపాయము, సహాయము, దేశకాలవిభజనము, ఆపదకు ప్రతిక్రియ, కార్యసిద్ధి. అద్భుతాంగులు beings having wondrous forms. అష్టాంగములు = the eight forms or stages of meditation, i. e, యమము, నియమము, ప్రాణాయామము, ప్రత్యాహారము, ధ్యానము, ధారణ, మననము, సమాధి. చతురంగములు the four divisions of an army, i. e., రథములు, ఏనుగులు, గుర్రములు, బంటులు. పంచాంగము the Indian calendar giving particulars of each day, as తిథి, వారము, నక్షత్రము, యోగము, కరణము. రాజ్యాంగములు the various departments of Government. షడంగములు or వేదాంగములు the six sciences dependent on the Vedas. i. e., శిక్ష, కల్పము, వ్యాకరణము, నిరుక్తము, జ్యోతిషము, ఛందస్సు. సప్తాంగములు = the seven constituents of a Government. స్వామి, అమాత్యుడు, సుహృత్తు, కోశము, రాష్ట్రము, దుర్గము, బలము. సాష్టాంగ ప్రణామము prostrate homage, touching the ground with eight members of the body, i. e., eyes or chest and forehead, hands, knees and feet.

(p. 11) antardhyānamu antardhyānamu. [Skt.] n. Inward meditation.

(p. 27) agrahāramu agra-hāramu. [Skt.] n. A street or village inhabited by brahmins. A village of which the old and hereditary cultivators are brahmins. A village granted to brahmins by government for charitable or religious purposes; either rent free, or at a favourable assessment. The conditions on which these villages are held are specified thus, సర్వాగ్రహారము a village free from all tax. శ్రోత్రియాగ్రహారము a village granted at a certain fixed assessment. జోడి అగ్రహారము, or బిల్మకా అగ్రగారము or, కట్టుబడి అగ్రహారము a village granted at a rent which fluctuates with the produce. అగ్రహారికుడు a brahmin belonging to such a village. అగ్రహారమనుభవించేవాడు he who enjoys a village free from tax.

(p. 45) adhamarṇuḍu adhamarṇuḍu. [Skt.] n. A debtor. అప్పుపడ్డవాడు. ఉత్తమర్ణుడు a creditor. అప్పిచ్చువాడు (from ఋణము a debt.)

(p. 65) appu appu. [Tel.] n. Loan, debt. ఋణము. అప్పు పుచ్చుకొను to borrow. అప్పుయిచ్చు to lend. అప్పువడు to fall in debt. అప్పుసప్పులు debts: here the word సప్పులు is an anuk.అప్పులకాపు a man in debt; a debtor. అప్పు పుచ్చుకొన్నవాడు. అప్పులవాడు n. A creditor, lender. ఉత్తమర్ణుడు, అప్పు యిచ్చినవాడు.

(p. 68) abhikramamu abhi-kramamu. [Skt.] n. Expedition. శత్రువులపై దండెత్తి పోవుట.

(p. 122) ārūḍhamu ārūḍhamu. [Skt.] adj. Ascended, mounted. పంచారూఢపత్రము a bond signed by five persons, viz., the creditor, debtor, writer, and two witnesses.

(p. 154) uttamamu ut-tamamu. [Skt.] adj. Excellent. best, virtuous, chief, principal, first. ఉత్తమపురుషము (in gram. lit. ఉత్తమ = last), the first person. ఉత్తమర్ణుడు ut-tamarnuṇu. [Skt. ఉత్తమ+ఋణము] n. A creditor. అప్పిచ్చినవాడు. ఉత్తమాంగము ut-tam-āngamu. [Skt. అంగము] n. The principal member, i.e., the head. ఉత్తముడు ut-tamuḍu. A most excellent man. ఉత్తమోత్తమము ut-tamōt-tamamu [Skt. ఉత్తమ+ఉత్తమ] adj. Superlative, best, excellent.

(p. 164) upādhi upādhi. [Skt.] n. Meditation ధర్మచింత. One who support his family కుటుంబ పోషకుడు. Cause or means. వ్యాజము. An attribute or characteristic. విశేషణము. జీవనోపాధి means of subsistence.

(p. 1398) ettudeñcu ettu-denṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To lead an expedition against, to fall upon, as an army, దండెత్తివచ్చు.

(p. 239) kadīmu kadīmu. [H.] n. An old servant, an old inhabitant. పారకాపు. కదీములు the old and hereditary cultivators of a village మిరాశికాపులు.

An honourable wife. కులకాయకము kula-kāyakamu. n. The trade of one's caste: one's family business. కులజుడు kulajuḍu n. One of good caste or honourable descent. కులధర్మము kulaṭa. n. An adulteress జరస్త్రీ. కులధర్మము kula-dharmamu. n. A practice or observance peculiar to a tribe or family; duty peculiar to a caste or race. A caste rule. కులపర్వతము. kula-paravatamu. n. One of the principal mountains, which are మహేంద్రము, మలయము, సహ్యము, శుక్తిమంతము, గంధమాదనము, వింధ్యము, పారియాత్రము. ప్రధానపర్వతము. కులపాలిక kula-pālika. n. A girl given away in marriage by her parents తల్లిదండ్రులచేనిచ్చి పెండ్లిచేయబడినస్త్రీ. కులవతి or కులస్థురాలు kula-vati. n. A woman of one's own caste. ఆమె నా కులవతికాదు she is not of my caste. కులవిద్య kula-vidya. n. The science or knowledge peculiar to one's caste. కులసతి, కులస్త్రీ kula-sati. n. An honourable wife. కులస్థుడు kulaṣthuḍu. n. A man of the same caste. పదిమంది కులస్థులు neighbours, people of one's caste. కులస్థురాలు a woman of one's own caste. కులహీనుడు kula-hīnuḍu. n. An outcaste. కులాచారము kulā-chāramu. n. The proper duty or profession of a caste or family.

(p. 364) gāyatri gāyatri. [Skt.] n. A kind of tree. చండ్రచెట్టు. The name of a certain short prayer addressed to the sun by the Brahmins. M. XIII. iii. 115. It is as folllows: - ఓంబూర్భునస్సువఃతత్సవితుర్వరేణ్యం భగ్గోదేవస్యధీమహీ ధీయోయోనః ప్రచోదయాత్ 'Om! Earth! Heaven! Let us meditate on the supreme splendour of the divine sun! May he illuminate our minds!'
