(p. 71) abhivandanamu abhi-vandanamu. [Skt.] n. Sanitation, prostration. నమస్కారము,దండము, మ్రొక్కు. అభివాదనము abhivādanamu. [Skt.] n. Salutation, prostration, reverence. ప్రణామము, నమస్కారము గోత్ర నామములు చెప్పి పాదములు తాకునట్లు , అభివాదకుడు one who salutes by falling at one's feet.

(p. 173) ūcu ūṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To wither. వెంట్రుకలు ఊచిపోవుచున్నవి his hair is falling off. ఊచు causative of ఊగు. (q. v.)

(p. 213) oragu or ఒరుగు oragu. [Tel.] v. n. To lean, bend, bow down, slant, be inclined, recline or lie down, to be weighed down, as scales. వంగు, వాలు. ఒరగి crouching, hiding. పడవ ఒరిగెను the boat leant on one side. ఒరిగి పడినాడు he tumbled down. మిన్నొరిగినట్లు crashingly, suddenly, as though the skies were falling, ఆ లెక్కను నామీద నొరగదోసినాడు he got that debt charged against me. ఒరగు n. Crookedness వంపు. ఒరగు, ఒరగుదిండు, ఒరగుడుదిండు, or ఒరగుబిళ్ల a cushion or large pillow to lean against. adj. Crooked వంపైన. ఒరగుపోవు or ఒరగబడు Same as ఒరగు. q.v.

(p. 266) kākamu kākamu. [Skt.] n. A crow. కాకతాళీయము kāka-tāḷīyamu. n. Chance, casualty, accident. 'Like the crow and the palm fruit'--a phrase denoting coincidence (అవితర్కితసంభవము): as a palm fruit falling just when a crow has alighted: కాకతాళీయమైన sudden, opportune, unexpected. కాకతాళీయపత్ or కాకతాళీయ న్యాయముగా suddenly, casually, accidentally.

(p. 289) kundi or కుందియన or కుందెన kundi. [Tel.] n. A rim, the ledge round a mortar, to prevent the falling of the rice, &c., when beaten in it. రోలిగుంట చుట్టునుండే రాతి కుదురు.

(p. 294) kuduru kuduru. [Tel.] v. n. To settle. స్థిరమగు. To recover (from illness) స్వస్థమగు. To be set, arranged, fixed, settled. To be got, obtained, found, come to hand. To fit or suit. అనుకూలమగు. To be introduced into an employ, to enter on it. To become firm, resolute. To succeed, prosper, flourish. కుదిరిన వ్రాత a settled handwriting అంతా బాగా కుదిరినది all is now right or settled. గణములు కుదరలేదు the metre is defective. ఆ పని వానికి కుదిరినది he obtained that employment. నాకు ఇల్లు కుదరలేదు. I cannot obtain lodgings. కుదురుపాటు kuduru-pāṭu. n. Settlement, arrangement, cure, remedy. కుదురుచు or కుదుర్చు or కుడిరించు kuduruṭsu. (causal of కుదురు.) v. n. To restore, to settle or arrange, to curl, to heal, to pacify, to calm, to fix or place. కుదురు kuduru. n. (G. కుదిటి Loc. కుదుట. Plu. కుదుళ్లు.) n. Settlement. Symmetry, gracefulness, beauty. Trimness, orderliness. అమరిక. Health, perfection. A family వంశము. One branch of a family. A garden bed. పాదు. A support or prop ప్రాపు. a ledge, or rim, preventing grain falling out of a mortar. A settle or ring of cord to prevent a pot from rolling over. చనుకుదురు a cancer in the breast. వాడు ఒక కుదిటివాడు he belongs to one branch of the family. ఒక్క కుదురైయున్నారు they live as one family. కుదురుకొను or కుదురుపడు kuduru-konu. v. n. To settle, to be settled. కదలకనిలుచు, నెలకొను, స్థిరపడు.

(p. 340) kṣīṇamu kshīṇamu. [Skt.] adj. Wasted, emaciated, decayed, exhausted, slender, thin. క్షయించిన, హీనమైన, కృశించిన, నశించిన, మదక్షీణోనాగః an elephant which is emaciated in its rut. క్షీణైపుణ్యేమర్త్యలోకంవిశంతి when their stock of merit [enjoyed by good men] is exhausted, they drop [in the shape of falling stars] again into mortal life. క్షీణపుణ్యులు those whose merit is exhausted. అక్షీణ undiminished. Vasu. i. 7. క్షీణము n. Decline, decay, decrease. క్షయము, తగ్గు. ఆయుఃక్షీణము the decline of one's age. ధనక్షీణము decrease of wealth. క్షీణత or క్షీణత్వము kshīṇata. n. Slenderness, thinness, emaciation, decay. కార్శ్యము, నాశము. క్షీణించు kshīṇinṭsu. v. n. To be wasted, emaciated, decayed. కృశించు, సన్నగిల్లు, నశించు, క్షీణమగు.

(p. 412) ciṭapoṭa chiṭa-poṭa. [Tel.] n. Irritation, anger. కోపము. A rattling sound as of falling leaves, fruit, &c. adj. Small, delicate చిటపొటమాటలు trilling accents. చిటపొటలాడే excited, in agitation.

(p. 420) cilaka or చిలుక chilaka. n. [Tel.] n. A parrot. ముద్దులచిలక my darling! my pet! చిలకపలుకులు Sweet accents. తెల్లచిలక a cockatoo. పంచరంగుచిలక the maccaw. మైనాచిలక the maina. పుట్టలచిలక or అడివిచిలక the Sirkeer Cuckoo. Jerdon. No. 230. రామచిలక. The Rose-ringed Paroquet, Palaeornis torquatus (so called because taught to reiterate the name of Rāma.) అకుచిలక the Western Blossom-headed Paroquet, Palacornis cyanōecphalus. The name is given to some insects, as a moth, thus, ఆకుచిలక, వడ్లచిలక a moth. గడ్డిచిలక, సీతాకోకచిలక a butterfly. A padlock. The bolt or hasp of a door, because these originally had parrot's heads on them. చిలుకల కొలికి a bright-eyed girl or woman. చక్కని స్త్రీ. చిలకకూర or చిలకతోటకూర chilaka-kūra. n. A kind of pot-herb, Amarantus fasciatus. (Watts.) చిలక, చిలకట or చిలుకడ chilaka. n. A saddle buckle: a ring at the end of the rope used as a girth of the bullock saddle through which the other end is passed to fasten the saddle. కొలికిముడి. చిలకడతాడు chilakada-tāḍu. n. A girth. ఎద్దుమీదికందళము, గంతబిగించేతాడు. చిలకకొయ్య or చిలుకకొయ్య chilaka-koyya. n. A wooden pin fixed in the wall, on which articles are suspended. చిలగడ chilagaḍa. (చిలుక+గడ.) n. The cord that fastens a dagger, to prevent its falling out of the sheath. చిలకతాళము chilaka-tāḷamu. n. A padlock. చిలకతాళి or చిలుకతాళి chilaka-tāḷi. n. A gold buckle in the form of a pair of parrots. చిలుకదుదుడి chilaka-duduḍi. n. The name of a certain tree. చిలకపచ్చ chilaka-paṭsṭsa. n. Bright green, parrot green. చిలకమొక్క or చిలకముక్కు chilaka-mokka. n. (lit. Parrot's bill.) A plant called crotolaria. శుకాననము, శుకనాస. Heyne, 130. The purple red and white scentless flower called Balsam. చిలకరౌతు chilaka-rautu. n. Lit: He whose steed is the parrot: an epithet of మన్మథ the god of love. చిలుక కోణము chiluka-kōṃamu. n. A 'T bandage,' or clout.

(p. 571) truḷlu truḷlu. [Tel.] v. n. To rise and fall suddenly. ఎగిరిపడు. To be arrogant or proud. గర్వించు. n. Pride, arrogance, ఎగిరిపాటు, గర్వము. త్రుళ్లగించు truḷḷa-ginṭsu. v. n. To fly. ఎగురు. త్రుళ్లగింత or త్రుళ్లుమింత. truḷḷa-ginta. n. Flying, ఎగురుట. త్రుళ్లగింతలుపెట్టు to fly, ఎగురు, త్రుళ్లింత. truḷḷinta. n. Rising and falling suddenlly, ఎగిరిపాటు. Pride గర్వము. త్రుళ్లియాడు. Same as త్రుళ్లు v. త్రుళ్లుపో తు truḷḷu-pōtu. n. An impudent or insolent man.

(p. 692) pagaḍamu or పపడము pagaḍamu. [from Skt. ప్రవాళము.] n. Coral. పగడంపుతీగెలు a name of a kind of rice. పగడ pagaḍa. n. An ace; one at dice. ND. iii. 573. నేను పడడమునకు పగడ తప్పినది I was within an ace of falling. I all but fell. పగడసాల pagaḍa-sāla. n. A gaming table. సాగటాల పలక. Diceplay, a particular game played with dice on a coloured cloth, సొగటాల ఆట. 'పందెములు కోరి వైచుచు పగడసాల, తారతోనాడు హరిణాంకుజేరిమ్రొక్కి.' T. iv. 79.

(p. 699) paḍamara paḍamara. [Tel Dravidian root పడుమ్ falling+ఇటాయిరు sun.] n. Lit: The side in which the sun sets. The West. తూర్పుపడమరలు East and West. తూర్పు పడమరలు paḍamaṭi. adj. Western. పడమటిగాలి the West wind. పడమటిల్లు the Western apartment, i.e., the cook-room or the dining room. పడమటికొండ paḍamaṭi-konḍa. n. Lit: The Western hill (behind which the sun is supposed to set.) అస్తాద్రి. పడమటిదొర the lord of the West, i.e., Varuna.

(p. 727) pallamu pallamu. [Tel.] n. A saddle, A ditch. A hole in the ground (however small.) A dale, low ground. పల్లంబుమిర్రు, మెరక పల్లము hill and dale, rising and falling ground, ups and downs. పల్లపునాడు low ground capable of being ploughed. పల్లపుపంట a wet crop, being the crop that is sown on low land.

(p. 803) poṭuku or పొటుక్కు potuku. [Tel. anuk] adv. Suddenly, said of sunset or sunrise, or of leaves falling from a tree. 'ప్రొద్దు పొటుక్కునంబొడువ భూధరకూటము లెక్కిడిగ్గుచున్.' Kālahasti. iv. 63.

(p. 885) birubirru biru-birru. [Tel. anuk. of stones falling.] adv. Quickly. 'బిరుబిర్రునరాలు పడెన్.' A. v. 97 .
